ABOUT THE YELLOWSTONE SERIES
International bestselling author, Bobby Akart, one of America’s favorite storytellers, delivers up-all-night thrillers to readers in 245 countries and territories worldwide. His critically-acclaimed Yellowstone series has been described a masterpiece of disaster thriller fiction.
Volcanoes are the Earth’s way of letting off steam. While most people look at volcanic eruptions as natural disasters, the fact of the matter is, without them, the Earth would explode. Deep beneath the surface of the planet, excess heat builds up, finding a way to vent.
Like an overcrowded bus on a hot summer day, the overheated magma stews in its own madness, allowing pent-up frustrations to boil over, until it releases its fury – its HELLFIRE – upon the world above.
Yellowstone is the most potentially explosive, violent, deadly, active volcano on our planet and scientists agree, a catastrophic eruption is inevitable. Yellowstone is extraordinary in its potential and is quite simply, Earth’s greatest killer. You’ve been warned.

I grew upon the Yellowstone area so the title and theme caught my eye. Once I read the first book I had to read the whole series.
This is a review of all four books of the series, which is actually one continuing story, and should be approached as a four-volume tale, and each book is a continuation and necessary follow-up of the previous one. This is a well-researched and spectacular view of a scientific phenomenon which WILL happen – sometime in the future. The characters are very well drawn, completely believable and endearing. Their adventure is exciting and heroic. I couldn’t stop reading until I’d finished the entire series.
Loaded with pages of scientific discussions. If you like that sort of thing, this is your book. I found very little “action/adventure” …this book was boring.
Lots of suspense (and speculation) on what could happen if Yellowstone blows its top! Good read.
Volcanoes interest me. This series doesn’t. The characters are stereotypes with totally predictable, simplistic, interactions. The plot is recognizable and predictable if you’ve ever watched a made-for-tv movie. Thank god there was a helicopter and pilots waiting…Deus ex machina. The actual writing is adequate and occasionally good.
The volcanism information with which the author builds his world seems accurate and is mostly easily verifiable. This is the saving grace of this novel. Good info, dispensed clearly. 2 stars for that.
Interesting idea but didn’t love the characters. The theme of the super volcano could’ve been developed much better.
While the premise was interesting (and scary), it had too much of a preachy feeling. It took a very dismal view of humanity, which while may be realistic, had no redemptive features. Too gloom and doom, plus political for me. I am not continuing the series.
Interesting and full of good science which I enjoy. But, even I began to find the scientific information tedious.
