In this third book in the New York Times bestselling Dorothy Must Die series, new girl from Kansas Amy Gumm is caught between her home—and Oz.My name is Amy Gumm. Tornadoes must have a thing about girls from Kansas, because—just like Dorothy—I got swept away on one too. I landed in Oz, where Good is Wicked, Wicked is Good, and the Wicked Witches clued me in to my true calling: Assassin. The way to … Assassin.
The way to stop Dorothy from destroying Oz—and Kansas—is to kill her. And I’m the only one who can do it.
But I failed. Others died for my mistakes. Because of me, the portal between the worlds has been opened. And if I don’t find a way to close it?
Dorothy will make sure I never get to go home again.
Now it’s up to me to: join the Witches, fight for Oz, save Kansas, and stop Dorothy once and for all.

Each book in this series gets more and more exciting and dangerous. I find myself flying through the books and eagerly checking out the next in the series. I just found out that this was not the final book and there is another! There’s also a bunch of novellas to go along, so I’m happily scouring those out as well. If you’re a fan of retellings at all or a fan of the original Wizard of Oz stories, you’re sure to like this series.
This book goes between Oz and Kansas which is slightly different than the previous two. In fact, more seems to take place in Kansas than in Oz. I loved how we got to see some of the characters from book one and how they are faring and how the relationship between Amy and some of those characters has changed. Amy isn’t the only character who has matured and found new perspective.
There are also new villains to face, mainly the Nome King. I think I dislike him even more than Glinda and Dorothy!
The writing is excellent and the reader really feels like they are there and a part of the action. This is a must read series!
Amy returns to Kansas with the Order and a new mission. I liked seeing her return and getting some closures to part of her before story. As she works with the Order, she bands together with a pair of unlikely friends. The book kept me in suspense as they try to save Oz.
Book 90 towards my goal of 285! 4/5 stars for this classic retelling continuation! Amy is still trying to kill Dorothy! And things still aren’t quite what they seem. Great cameos from other people in Amy’s world as well! Where will we go in the series finale?! Love the cover and the narration!
Yellow brick war is the third book in the serie.
Amy is back in Kansas with some members of the Order but its far from being over with Dorothy. Amy most find the Ruby slippers that Dorothy once have and are apparently in Kansas. If she fail both Oz and Kansas are in danger of destruction.
The third book in the series takes Amy back to Kansas to continue her fight to save Oz (and The Other Place (Kansas) too). New characters become involved, we get a look at how Amy’s disappearance affected her negligent mother, and find out some new details about Dorothy. And of course, there are twists and deception.
This book is a fun continuation of the series. I remain spellbound by this version of Oz and the entire cast of characters. Recommended to fans of alternate realities and fractured fairy tales.
This is the third installment from the “Dorothy Must Die” series.
Amy Gumm has transformed along the way from an awkward underprivileged outcast, to a dark arts apprentice/trained assassin to an actual visceral beast with claws and fangs to boot. All the while she is still trying to save Oz from continuing its rapid decline to ruin.
She encounters a new threat who has ancient antediluvian terror skills so diabolically hazardous that this grievous menace can destroy Oz and Kansas simultaneously. Amy will acquire allies from wells that once were filled with antagonists. Find herself maturing, forgiving others and increasingly rising to the occasion even when she is scared and unsure.
Another easy to read action packed thrill ride. Jam-packed with revelations, amazements and setbacks. I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series.
