Really good story, fun to read. Loved it.
I am an escapist reader. I like bigger than life heroes, truly villainous villains, lots of action. This book fits very nicely into that category. It was an enjoyable read. When I was younger I read deep thought provoking novels. I read a substantial number of nonfiction books. Now I refuse to read anything that will make me cry. If I wanted reality, I would watch the news.
A good start to a great series
This book was a fun read. I already bought the second in the series.
Stayed up past my bedtime to finish it. Complex, interlocking plot with lots of moving pieces. Great characters I quickly came to care about. Male and female characters, both bad and good, were badasses. Will definitely read the sequels.
Great book by a great author. Keep up the fine writing. Read this, you’ll like it a lot.
Yeager’s laws and attitude make him a winner in my book. I want him on my side (Charlie, too).
There is luck and then there’s Yeager’s Luck!
Abel Yeager is dead broke, down on his luck, and suffering from a serious case of what-the-hell-does-it-matter. His transition from active Marine to stateside long-haul trucker hit a wicked speed bump when his rig was involved in a wreck that claimed the life of a pregnant woman and laid him up for several months. What did I like? Wow, talk about a page turner!!!! This is the type of book that every author of this genre wants to write. The statement from Book Reviews “Fans of Lee Child should definitely relish reading this book” is so true. The first thing that struck me is Abel being in the trucking business, being raised in the trucking business I was intrigued. My Dad, Mom, brothers and I all drove the big rigs. I was so caught up that I had to force myself to turn off the light at 3 am and the first thing I did this morning was to finish it. This book contains all the elements that make a great book, action and tons of it, humor that keeps you laughing so hard your crying tears, suspense that keeps you on the edge of the seat, a great tragedy that will make your heart hurt, one of a kind love story and an ending that will make you yell “Hurrah”!!!!!! I absolutely loved the ending and wished that the book would continue and just keep on going. I hope that the author will write more about this couple in the future.
@ddeegott What are you going to like? Gee, I think that I said it all above but just to add a comment …. You will fall in love with Abel and Charlie, Victor and Cujo… You will see the details fly off the page and there is nothing that this author has left to the imagination. Characters that react off of each other and add that special touch to the story blending the language and actions that make it all come together as a masterpiece. His work is impeccable, the details clear, the action incredible, the humor spot on, the characters developed and either loveable or hate-able, research that shows up on every page and a desire to read more and more!
I received this for being an advanced reader for the author. Besides getting all the good books in advance of hitting the market and have the opportunity to share my remarks, I love to be part of the team that watches a young author as they develop their own style and become better and better with each book that they pen. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
This is an action packed, fast moving story that will keep your adrenaline going right to the end. The intertwining subplots and various twists keep you thinking and the softness in the development of the romance between Charlie and Yeager contrasts well with the violence and inhumanity of the drug cartels. Scott Bennett did an excellent job of the various characters and accents in the narration of the audiobook. They were believable and he managed to show the humour, anxiety, attraction and aggression very well. His voice drew you into the story and painted images in your mind, bringing both the characters and the story to life. This book would make an excellent action movie as it has intrigue, suspense, lots of action, great characters, plenty of “boom” and romance too.
A-Team…eat your heart out.

Abel Yeager lives by his own laws and his First Law is: come home at the end of the day. His laws served him well in the Marines, but he never thought he would have to apply them to his long-haul trucking job. One day while making a pit stop in an out-of-the-way rest area, he catches some thugs trying to steal his rig. He puts the hurt on three of them, but when their boss aims his gun at him, Abel thinks his luck has finally run completely out. Then Charlie Buchanan steps out of the restroom and trains her honking big gun on the bad guy. The boss gathers his beaten lackeys and hightails it down the highway. Bad guys: 0, good guys: 1. The police are called, reports are made, thanks are given and Abel and Charlie part, encounter over. Or is it?
Ooh-Rah! This is one of those books that sounds interesting and you think you’re in for a decent ride and it does start off that way. But then…Wham! The next thing you know you’ve been carjacked and kidnapped, traveling down a road at top speed heading into the night toward Whothefuckknowsville. Except, instead of being terrifying, it’s fucking awesome! Twists and turns and multiple players with their own POV and agenda with Abel and Charlie swimming in the dark with no idea how to answer the Who, What, Why and Where of it all. Does it sound like it should be a mishmash mess? It so isn’t. It all comes together with action, suspense, humor and a dash of romance. Yeager’s Law wins the Can’t Turn the Pages Fast Enough Award. I had to force myself to put it down when it came time to do Real Life things. Well-written with characters you’ll love or love to hate, a romance that’s sweet and steamy without being blatant, action reminiscent of Die Hard and suspense that will have you leaving half-moon marks on any available surface, I dare you to pick this one up. In fact, I double dog dare you. Author Scott Bell is officially on my Favorite Author List.
I enjoyed the adventure and look forward to the next ‘Yeager’ thriller.
great story is a must fead
Very enjoyable book.
Good story but to much sex.
This book has strong characters and a lot of physical action. If you enjoy books or movies where the hero and heroine take a break from the plot to have some physical interaction of the getting to know you variety then this one is for you. The characters in this book are strong and attractive but not without their flaws. Well-plotted, interesting adventure romance.
One of the best books I’ve read this year (and I read about 30+ books a year). VERY entertaining read, got several snorts out of me as I read it. This author will go to the must follow list
It was more graphic sexually than I prefer. But it was a page turner, and was packed full of action.
I was excited to read a really engaging story. But the language was just too rough and I had to close out after 3% of the book. Are all those f-bombs really necessary? They add nothing to the story. I’m an adult, I can handle a sprinkling of profanity with situational relevance. But over and over just for the sake of adding word count to a novel smacks of a lazy author.
I started this a couple time and it doesn’t mess around and got right to the good stuff. My biggest problem was it just seemed to go on and on. I guess I also struggled connecting with the characters.
I enjoy listening to J Scott Bennett. He just seems to have that great voice for stories like this.
Great characters with interesting action.
