Yaal is the first book in the Alliance Mail Order Bride science fiction romance series within the wider Athenaverse. It can be read as a standalone, but it still shares the same universe and situations you’ve found in other books. Each book features the romance of an alpha male alien warrior and a human woman who doesn’t put up with any nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and HEA guaranteed.

A very good read for the first book I read by this author. Commander Yaal, after he battles and chases a Ataxia Coalition ship, he has to do a emergency stop to look for equipment to repair his ship. The closest planet is Titanus Vox a independent planet run by humans to ask for help. Yaal meets the Governor Coleson who’s one of the leaders of the Interstellar Human Confederation (IHC) who recommends his daughter Leyla/Layla as liaison during their voyage to a allied planet to get the parts they need. Along the way they’re attacked by the Odex which from the relief of surviving brings them closer together. When Layla calls home her father asks her to spy on Yaal. Layla wants to please her father but is torn so reluctantly she tells her father about a meeting on planet Yavion about what they found on the Odex ship. After the meeting Yaal find out about the calls and confronts Leyla when they’re attacked by a fleet of Coalition ships. Can they work together afterwards, and what about their budding relationship? Enjoyable Sci-fi Alien romance about two species learning how to get along and communicating with battles and treachery to entice that kept me turning the pages. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
It was an okay read. I would have liked to see the attraction between Layla and Yaal from the beginning. I thought the story line was well developed and pretty entertaining.

I have not been reading SciFi for very long, but this is a wonderful example. Yaal is the Commander of a Trident Alliance ship that has suffered some major damage in a firefight with the Coalition. He is a clone and has been enhanced with cybernetics. As such he has access to all kinds of information and the ability to suppress emotions. Lexi is the daughter of the Governor of Titanus Vox, the planet they landed on to make repairs to their ship. Lexi is spoiled and rude. She wants more responsibility within her father’s position, but is not taken seriously. Part of that reason may be her spoiled and entitled attitude. She gets her wish for more responsibility when her father assigns her as a companion to Commander Yaal to teach him about humans. She is atrocious and rude in the beginning and I didn’t think I liked her until I really looked at it from her her point of view. They will learn more about each other and fight hostile forces. She finally feels like she belongs somewhere and they end up in a battle that looks like their last. Lexi and Yaal are funny at times and frustrating at others. Yaal has the excuse of limited emotions and lack of understanding of the human psyche. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and do recommend it. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Great book to readI really liked the way Leyla and Yael find their way with their differences. I wondered until the end if someone so different can work it out. The ending surprised me and made me want to read the rest of the series.

EMOTIONS RULE BETTER THAN LOGIC
This is a story of human intervention and cloning with cybernetics. Yaal, a computer enhanced brain clone, is a commander of a space battleship and an alien. He learns to trust his gut and improvise after communicating and relating to humans. He turns off his emotion suppressor and learns that he is capable of loving, Leyla, a human. Emotions lead to misunderstandings and aid from the humans, unexpectedly. There is a HEA, but there is also a cliffhanger.
