Moody, unrepentant, and angry, he is a virtual prisoner of his ever-watchful parents—until a copy of the missing tape arrives with a ransom demand. That’s when the McCabes call Kinsey Millhone for help. As she is drawn into their family drama, she keeps a watchful eye on Fritz. But he’s not the only one being haunted by the past. I love all of her books. This one included two stories in one.
Sad to realize this is the last book by Sie Grafton. I enjoyed the whole book and will re-read all others I own. I hope others read it and perhaps some may choose to begin again with A
Sue Grafton’s books are always a good read!
Love the Kinsey Millhone books and the regular characters.
This book continues the always-entertaining exploits of Kinsey Milhone. So sad that it is the last one. If you haven’t read the whole alphabet series, check it out!
All of Sue Grafton’s books are well constructed with believable characters and page turning action.
Don’t start reading this when you have other things to do, because you won’t want to put it down.
I didn’t finish the book. It was too dark.
I loved this book “Y”! SUE GRAFTON was one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her A-Y series… She was so awesome… she will be missed! RIP, Sue.
One of your greatest fans!
This was a fun ‘who dunnit’ that kept me guessing until almost the end.
If you have read the other Sue Grafton books, you will like this one, too, although I think it moved a little slower than the others and most of the characters were bland or unlikeable. But that is the nature of murder mystery books.
As good as all the other 24, “Y is for Yesterday” keeps the story of Kinsey Milhone’s life and investigations at the top of everyone’s reading list. Rest in Peace, Sue Grafton. We readers will miss you!!

I am so sad that this is the last of Sue Grafton’s alphabet series starring Kinsey Milhone. It is as wonderful as the rest and both Sue and Kinsey will be missed. RIP
I have read all of Sue Grafton’s novels and am sad this is her last. If you love Kinsey Millhone, you will be happy with this book. The story builds steadily, going back and forth between events in 1979 and 1989. Everything comes together in an exciting conclusion (which we have all come to expect). Sad to say goodbye to Kinsey and her friends.
I will miss Sue Grafton’s books and her wonderful characters. After reading and listening to Judy Kaye reading her books, it is like a member of my family is gone.
I have read every book in the Alphabet series by Sue Grafton and enjoyed each and every one. This book was no exception I was drawn in by the first chapter until the end. Sadly this will be the last book in the series ,there will be no Z, as Miss Grafton passed away last year. I feel like I have lost a dear friend and will miss her heroine Kinsey Milhouse and all the rest of her regular characters that made the Alphabet series so enjoyable. It’s never to late to become a fan. I only hope I can find another author that I will enjoy as much as I did this series.
another great kinsey milhone story!
The last of the series and Kinsey is no longer around as the PI that seems to solve the case thru brute force and guts. Going to miss Kinsey.
Grafton’s last book. How I’m going to miss her writing! I am a loyal Sue Grafton reader, and I was excited to get my hands on a copy of Y. The story itself was suspenseful and well-written, the ending satisfying. However, I was thrown off by the sexual content. A rape was described in detail and I was disturbed by that; thus, the 4 stars rather than 5. Otherwise, another awesome story by Sue Grafton.
