Kat Mizera’s world of Limaj keeps getting better and better with each new story!
Princess Elen is struggling to be back in the palace and in the spotlight after more than a decade spent in exile in hiding. She is trying to find both herself and her purpose while also attempting to gain the respect of her colleagues in a very male dominated political arena.
Xander Holt may be a Royal Protector, but he is so much more than a bodyguard with a pretty face. He’s ready to take on anything to support the royal family, even if it is Princess Elen herself. They constantly seem to be at odds . . . and their sparring often feels more like foreplay than fighting.
When an exhausted Elen runs to her safe place, Xander is ordered to track her down and to keep her safe. And, once in Tahiti, all bets are off. Their attraction can no longer be contained and they finally give in to what they have both been fighting for so long.
But there is trouble in paradise and Omar is more of a threat to Elen and the royal family of Limaj than ever before. It will be up to Xander to keep his princess safe at any cost.
For real, I love this world and these characters. Elen is so very strong. At the same time, she has so many insecurities and I loved the dichotomy her character faced. Watching her slowly give in to her own desires, needs and wants felt liberating as she found the strength to be the woman she wants to be. And Xander is so alpha, yet also romantic, caring and more. He’s not just a muscled up body and the more I learned about him, the harder I fell! Kat Mizera introduced a few new characters as well that were absolute gems! Samaria and Fetu were unexpected and amazing and I adored their part in this story.
Xander was a great romance with lots of drama, suspense, plenty of heat and all of our favorite royal characters from the world of Limaj. 5 stars!
Xander Holt is HOT model hot and he happens to be the bodyguard to Princess Elen of Limaj. The tension between the two is burning up the pages as it builds and builds. Both had so many hidden layers and depth that unfolded as the story progressed. Great character development with both main and secondary that bring the world alive. Loved seeing past couples as they rebuild Limaj to its former glory.

Everything Xander does seems to set Elen off and he is at his witts end while Elen is so over being in such a controlled environment after years on her own and in hiding. I loved the dynamic between Elen and Xander and I get where both of them are coming from and Elen’s need to for time out. We get to meet some awesome people and learn about Elen’s time before coming back home and then when Xander and Elen get alone and away from everything and everyone truths come out and the attraction finally comes out. Bit its not all alpha men and sassy women Erik still has threats and people who want them all to fail which leads to danger, kidnapping and the worry that a new romance will be over before it has had a chance!
Fall into madness with a heartrender of a story. Xander rides the waves of heartache while taking readers on a suspenseful adventure. Xander and Elen refuse to be Cinderella and Prince Charming. They write their own fairytale with strong personalities and a passion that despite the odds will not be denied. Mizera captivates with danger. Tempts with romance and thrives on being unpredictable. Xander is a breathtaking journey that blasts it’s way into your heart.
A romantic adventure!!! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Kat’s books get better and better!!!! I am so in love with the Royal Protectors. Xander Holt takes his job seriously and does it well. Princess Elen Gustaffson melts my heart with her love for her country and trying to live the life she wants. These two are on a romantic adventure you will not want to put down that will keep you turning the pages. I can’t wait to see where Kat goes with this series as it gets better with every book!
5 Stars
Protect your heart from this bodyguard… you are going to definitely lose it!
You will absolutely fall for Xander, Kat Mizera’s second book in her Royal Protector series. When I read the first book in the series, I loved Sandor and his relationship with Lennox. Xander made some brief appearances in that book, we got a glimpse of the beginnings of an amazing character (actually two – his and the tension filled relationship with Princess Elen Gustaffson). I loved the unexpected twists within this book, the banter and smoldering chemistry between Xander and Elen, the challenges they face together and separately, some insecurities and journey they take together. This is a page-turner filled with sexy alpha males, fierce and independent female leads, and an amazing continuation to this series. It does not disappoint, and it is truly a must read!
Xander and Elen were a perfect couple. I loved that they weren’t always lovey dovey with one another. It was great to see real life issues playing a part in the relationship. Xander was also a great surprise! He was a total alpha but had so many other different sides to him that one would not expect with the bodyguard ex military persona. Elen is a take charge and stay out of my way women that we all wish that we could be. It is great to see a woman that knows what she wants or doesn’t want and is not afraid to do what she has to do to be happy. The two of them together are a force to be re conned with. As always I loved to see the other characters so involved in the story and watch their relationships grow. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Xander and Elen, Elen and Xander. Elen, sister of Sandor ( Royal Protectors 1) and Xander her protector/bodyguard. They of course but heads alot as she is a strong independent women and he is trying to protect her from all things. But their chemistry is off the charts. Elen is drowning under the weight of educational reform while dealing with the old boys club that is the government.(her cousin Eric excluded). She needs to get away so off she goes. Of course, where she goes Xander goes as well. This is really where their story begins and I am here for it all.
I loved Xander and Elen who are both so different. But together, they are on fire. It was also great to catch up with everyone else in Limaj and I look forward to what comes next.
Xander, the second book in the Royal Protectors series was fantastic! I loved Xander and Elen! They made a great couple! Elen is a princess and Xander is assigned to protect her. Evan though they’re constantly butting heads, their attraction is undeniable, and their chemistry is explosive! This story was filled with action, drama, danger, suspense, passion, romance and love. I couldn’t stop reading! Kat has written another fantastic book in the Royal Protectors series! I can’t wait for the next book!
The Royal Protectors is one of my favorite series. Royalty, rock stars, ex-military bodyguards, political intrigue, and swoon worthy love stories, it is a lot wrapped up in an exciting story.
Princess Elen Gustaffson spent 11 years in exile, hiding from the world as the royal family was targeted by those who had murdered most of the family and wanted to finish the job. Now she is back with her family, taking charge of education in their country, and living with a fear she hadn’t experienced while in hiding. And then there is dealing with the men in Parliament who don’t take her seriously.
Ex-Marine Xander Holt is one of the Royal Protectors and is assigned to be Elen’s bodyguard. It shouldn’t be that hard, but Elen fights him every step of the way. Heck, he’s had to just throw her over his shoulder at time to get her moving. For Xander, it feels like a constant battle with Elen just to protect her.
What I liked most was the relationship Elen had with a family she had lived with while in exile. And of course, the way Elen and Xander sparred. Another thing was the relationship between Xander and his younger brother. And I really hated the bad guy, Omar, but then, he was the evil man behind so many deaths in the royal family.
I received an ARC of Xander and this is my honest review.
Exceeded all expectations! More Royal Protectors Please! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Xander Holt is good at his job, he loves being a bodyguard. Even his assignment protecting Princess Elen Gustaffson though being a challenge is something that makes him happy. His first introduction to Princess Elen may have put them on this path. When Xander has to chase her down something happens that puts them on the course to their HEA.
I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning reading due to the can’t put down effect.
5 Stars !
These two were adorable. Complete opposites in so many ways. Yet so perfect for each other. The book started out a bit slow with Elen constantly pissed at the world and these two always butting heads. But once they gave into the burning attraction they felt for each other it was like a rocket shot off. Xander was so tough yet swoon worthy at the same time. He was the perfect gentleman, unless his was doing his job. Then he was bada**. I loved Elen, but also felt for her and understood her irritations with life. But if I’m honest my favorite person was Samaria. I’m glad Elen had her and Fetu.
I was a bit confused as well. We never did get all of Omar’s reasonings. I felt like that was just pushed to the side. I would have loved to know more.
This was another great book in the Royal Protectors series. It’s always fun to go back to Limaj and see how they are rebuilding their country. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Great book! Great series! Loving this series & the characters are amazing!!!
Xander is a perfect example of the saying “There is a thin line between love and hate.” Elen is the fiesty princess that Xander is assigned to protect. Elen is beyond frustrated and stressed, literally making herself sick, trying to navigate in her new role in a male dominanted parliament, until one day she just takes off. Xander follows her and once they are away from the judging eyes of Limaj, the sparks start to fly.
Xander is book 2 in the Royal Protectors series and while it can be read as a standalone, I believe you would enjoy it more if you read the books in order. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series. This book is action packed and kept me up way past my bedtime. It really was a great story and not really your typical enemies-to-lovers or bodyguard romance.
Elen has spent the last decade taking care of herself but now her family is back in their rightful place as the Royal as Family of Limaj she has been assigned a Royal protector despite her protests.
Xander is the Royal protector assign to Elen. She doesn’t listen, fights him at every turn and makes life difficult. They are always last to arrive at emergency evacuation drills.
When she disappears after a drill, Xander is sent to protect her.
Once they spend time with each other is the beautiful Tahiti the fire between them changes to passion. He would do anything to protect her but not just because it his job.
Love this couple and can’t wait for more of this series.
Xander can be my protector anyday! I absolutely adored watching Xander an Elens relationship unfold. I love this world and can’t wait for the rest of the Royal Protectors.
When Xander is assigned to protect Princess Elen, he knew he’d be in for a ride because this is no simpering wallflower of a princess. No, she’s a feisty, sassy woman who drives him nuts with her stubbornness and determination to thwart his protection. Who knew (who didn’t?) it masked an attraction that would soon turn to more, so much so that when his princess is taken, Xander will call upon every ounce of his training, ravage the world, to get her back.
I loved this suspenseful, sexy royal romance. Xander is very alpha but sweet and charming, and more than willing to go toe to toe with his feisty princess. Elen was perfect for him and kept him alert and ready, and brought him to his knees. I’ve been loving this royal world of Limaj, can’t wait for more now!
I already love that Elen is such a ball buster and I can tell that she’ll give Xander a run for his money. She has been a favorite through the series because she is such a tough cookie. It cracked me up that everyone else was trying to push them together because they just KNEW they were meant for each other. This series is full of excitement and hotness. I love revisiting these characters and I cannot WAIT to see who’s story is next.
I feel like Elen gave me whiplash between the fact that she could take care of herself since she had done it in exile for a decade, but was clueless about things like money. She acted like a bratty child, throwing fits about drills and protection but still not feeling safe when there was evidence of her bodyguard hanging around doing his job. Also, I hated Xander’s name since there last book was Sandor, which in my mind is pronounced similarly.
All of this grumbling to say that I truly did like the story, with the time in Tahiti being my favorite. I liked that it was a continuation of Sandor and Lennox, and we are still spending time with Erik and Casey. It’s nice to see Limaj come to life and I hope to read the best book in the series soon!
Ms Mizera is a newish author to me- I’ve read a few of hockey centered stories, but this was my first read of hers in the royalty/romantic suspense genre.
I enjoyed getting to know Xander and Elen, both are interesting characters with a lot on their plates. This is the second book in a series – that seems to be connected to another series (I’m not sure there) so there is a lot going on, especially in regards to the secondary cast.
There were times when I felt like the budding relationship between Xander and Elen was getting a little lost in the world building/character introductions that were necessary for us to know who all of the players in the story were. These were characters I found myself intrigued by and really want to know more about who they were and their journey.
This is a book where I feel like I might have done myself a disservice by not reading the first book of the series or the related material first. I think it would have made some of the whose who and interconnectedness/reference make more sense. I am definitely curious about books related to this one, so I will have to check them out.
