“An inventive plot and incisive character studies elevate MWA Grand Master Grafton’s twenty-fourth Kinsey Millhone novel…This superior outing will remind readers why this much-loved series will be missed as the end of the alphabet approaches.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)X: The number ten. An unknown quantity. A mistake. A cross. A kiss…Perhaps Sue Grafton’s darkest and most chilling … kiss…
Perhaps Sue Grafton’s darkest and most chilling novel, X features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this deadly sociopath. The test is whether private investigator Kinsey Millhone can prove her case against him—before she becomes his next victim.

Not her best book but still entertaining enough.
I have read all of these as they have been published. Can’t go wrong with this author.
Another good Kinsey Millhone mystery!
Good, because the books usually are. But this isn’t the best in the series. But, on the other hand, if you have followed the series this far, why are you bothering to read a review. If new to this series, go back and start at A.
I really enjoyed it. I like all of Sue GRafton’s books. I cannot wait until Y comes out, and will be sad when the series ends.
Another grand slam home run from the Queen of series mysteries.
Another great read by Grafton.
I always count on Sue Grafton to author interesting, light-reading, ‘conversational’ books. This was no exception.
As always, this book was great. I have read every book in this series and loved them all.
Great addition to the series. Like seeing old friends again.
This was one of my favorites. So sad the series is coming to a close. The books keep getting better and better.
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Kinsey Millhone mystery series by Sue Grafton. I enjoyed this one, but…not as much as the previous books. It seems that the effort to stay true to the time period of the late 80s – early 90s is becoming too much of an effort. There’s a reference to the newly popular subway tiles, but they were not a thing in that time period at all. I know it’s a little thing, but it niggled at me for a long time and just seemed to be a detail that went unchecked.
Had higher hopes for this book; I found the writing to be almost a bit too straight-forward, bordering on boring, it didn’t hold my interest well and I had to push to get through it. As far as the story line, it didn’t contain as many twists or complexities as I’d hoped. It was an easy read, but not that exciting or unpredictable.
Grafton’s books are always good reads
Always love Sue Graftion! Easy, yet entertaining reads.
I have read the whole series and have got to know the players as real people. Always wondering what this detective lady will be into next.
Can’t wait for Y!
A little wordy at times but a good beach read.
I enjoyed the multiple story lines. A bad person a rekindled love and just plain revenge against a old couple gaming the system. This book left me with wanting to read the next one.
Have always liked her books.
