“An inventive plot and incisive character studies elevate MWA Grand Master Grafton’s twenty-fourth Kinsey Millhone novel…This superior outing will remind readers why this much-loved series will be missed as the end of the alphabet approaches.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)X: The number ten. An unknown quantity. A mistake. A cross. A kiss…Perhaps Sue Grafton’s darkest and most chilling … kiss…
Perhaps Sue Grafton’s darkest and most chilling novel, X features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this deadly sociopath. The test is whether private investigator Kinsey Millhone can prove her case against him—before she becomes his next victim.

I started this series a long time ago, and I wait patiently for the next in the series. Start with A and you won’t go wrong
Sue Grafton never disappoints a fan of mysteries.
Sue Grafton is an amazing author that makes the alphabet exciting. X is the 24th book in her alphabet series of private investigator Kinsey Millhone. Each book tells about Kinsey’s personal life and her professional career as a private investigator. Even when Kinsey’s PI business is slow, her curiosity into her friends and neighbors lives keep her skills intact and makes you want her to keep snooping. I’m not looking forward to Sue Grafton finishing the series at Z. I wonder what she could move onto after Z.
What can I say, I am a fan. The heroine, Kinsey Millhone is my hero! I am reading the books out of series order, and is able to read with understanding. The author wrote the books as standalone, as well as part of a series. I could not put the book down!
Kinsey Milhone is such a wonderful character. In this era of tech it is nice to go back in time where everything was done without computers. Great plots. If you love female PI stories, Sue Grafton hit the mark. RIP Sue.
I’m going to miss reading about Kinsey!
Every book in the alphabet series is a great read.
I highly recommend Sue Grafton’s alphabet series. everyone is a winner.
I was really quite surprised at how boring a writer Sue Grafton is. She’s so popular. I found that she uses so many words, as if she’s trying to make the story longer by adding in a bunch of words that all mean the same thing. Super boring really.
I thought this book contained more foul language than some of her earlier books.
I have completely enjoyed all of the books on Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone series. I really like a strong female lead in a good mystery.
Love all her books from beginning to end. Love the characters and how she brings you into their lives and builds on them in each book. How family isn’t always blood and how they look out for each other. Each case brings out strengths and weaknesses and teaches perseverance. Have read all her books and love rereading them
Have enjoyed all of Sue Grafton’s books. This was no exception. Sorry to see series nearing the end!
Great book as usual, can’t go wrong reading a Sue Grafton book!
With no thought of ever reading Grafton’s near-entire alphabet, I started with X and immediately regretted it had taken so long to discover her. Sure, these are mysteries, but it’s Grafton’s humor, the humanity of her characters and yes, her way of describing food that keeps me wanting to read to more.
This is an easy to read book with solid characters. I always enjoy her books.
I love all of Sue Grafton’s Alphabet mysteries. Kinsey Millone is an interesting and likeable character.
Who will not miss Sue Grafton?
Fun reading
As ever with Grafton, excellent read.
