A lovely, romantic, love story!
Quite different to what I usually read but I really enjoyed the change of the slow pace of the Cowboy life. A true romantic love story with a bit of a twist entwined throughout. I loved the part about the goats and the school children, Colby melted my heart a few times. I only gave four stars purely because I genuinely struggled with some of the dialect and language, but accept this is probably because I’m from the UK.
I really enjoyed this romantic, yet suspenseful book. Colby Danes is The Foreman for Triple C Ranch, he’s the all round Hard working, great guy that knows a lot about the land and the animals that he raises on it, he loves his life and thinks himself lucky for where he is. Skye was a waitress, who has run from her life and the abuse of her ex boyfriend Hector, only to break down and be rescued by Colby. This is mostly a beautiful story of a new love and happiness found with a new way of life for Skye, but Hector’s pissed and he’s searching for Skye to make her pay for embarrassing him and ruining his plan for her. A great read that keeps you enthralled until the end.
Western Romance is on the top of my 1click list. Wyoming Skye is beautiful story of unexpected love. Unexpected because neither Colby or Skye were looking for love. Unexpected because it was just a chance meeting and country kindness which brought them together.
The country way of life shined through the words Mr. Snell wrote about. The southern drawl and unique way a real country boy speaks brought a real life feel to this romantic tale.
This debut book has it’s rough editing spots. At times I was distracted but the story kept me reading on.
Remembering that writing a book and putting it out for the world to judge is hard. It’s like opening up your heart and saying do you still like me now that you’ve seen all of me. Debut books are not always an authors best representation of the talent they have in storytelling.
I look forward to reading more stories by Peter Snell.
I really enjoyed this modern day cowboy romance. The story had a great plot, good dialogue, and amazing character development. The story flowed from page to page and I couldn’t put it down, it is written so well it makes you feel as if you are a part of the story. A definite must read!
Colby was in love once and even though it still haunted him, he hoped that someday he would meet the right woman who would want to share his life on the ranch and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the Wyoming countryside.
Skye finally got the courage to leave her abusive boyfriend so she grabbed what she could, jumped in her car, and took off into the night. She really had nowhere to go because she wasn’t close to her family so she kept driving, hoping she would come upon the right place to start her new life. She ended up at Colby’s ranch and she immediately felt safe with him and she was shocked that he was so nice to someone who he had just met. Skye was definitely attracted to Colby, but she wasn’t sure if he felt the same way.
Colby was smitten with Skye from the moment they met and he was glad that she let him take care of her. He enjoyed showing her around the ranch and he even taught her how to ride a horse. They were falling hard for each other but Colby wasn’t sure Skye would stay and she was afraid to tell him about her past.
Can Colby keep Skye safe when danger comes to town?
I enjoy the cowboy romance genre and “Wyoming Skye” has the beautiful scenery, handsome cowboys and a damsel in distress, that are important to all cowboy romances. I really liked the storyline of the quiet cowboy and the runaway beauty. The dialogue was a little too country sounding which made Colby seem uneducated. Skye never seemed that afraid of her old boyfriend, and he was too dumb to pose a real threat to anyone. This was a good effort for a debut novel and I hope that the author continues to write more books in this series.
“As much as I love it here, I’d leave it all behind to be with you. I may have been living here, but you make me feel alive.”
What damsel in distress doesn’t want to be rescued by a handsome cowboy? Not only one, but a whole ranch full of them?
Colby Danes, head rancher at the Triple C Ranch, has been married to his work and the 40 square acres of land and livestock it comes with. He’s had his heart broken before and has no plans to ever let a woman get that close to him again – and he’s just fine with that. He has everything he needs and loves what he does. Until her. When a storm blows in, it brings more than just some fences to repair. It brought him the woman that will turn his life upside down. She’s holding secrets – ones that he wants her to share when she’s ready – but will it be too late? Will her past catch up with her and destroy the happiness he just found?
Skye Daniels had to leave. She’ll end up dead if she doesn’t. Ending up off the beaten path and finding herself in the middle of nowhere with her car stuck in a fallen tree, she never expected to be rescued by the handsome cowboy on horseback. Nor, did she expect to fall in love with him the fast and this deep. But, her secrets – the ones she’s running from – aren’t his to bear, yet they could be coming right to his doorstep. Will her past destroy their future? Or, can she put an end to this once and for all and finally get her happy ever after?
I enjoyed the story line. However, here is why I only gave it 3 stars. I understand that the hero in the story runs a ranch. But, the “cowboy talk” as I call it was overkill. This takes place in Wyoming, yet they all sounded like they had stereotypical back-woods southern accents. I had a hard time picturing Colby as a strapping 32-year-old hunk and kept picturing him as an older, weathered rancher. Maybe that’s just me, but that’s how the writing made me picture him. In the scenes where Colby and Skye spend some time between the sheets, the overuse of euphemisms for their anatomical parts was, at times, silly and made me chuckle. Then, we have the antagonist, Hector. I was never afraid of him. I never for one minute believed he might get to her -not because Colby would protect her – but because he’d be too drunk and stupid to pull it off. Add in poor formatting, and poor editing, and it all took away from the story.
I do feel the story had potential. It just fell short for me.
I really enjoyed the story of Colby and Skye. The way he taught her all about his world and the way she just loved every minute of it. A very sweet romance. Peter Snell is a new author to me but I recommend you give him a try.
