There’s a reason they call me Wylde and it’s not just because it’s my last name. I might be one of the newest players on the Arizona Vengeance team, but I’m no stranger to the celebrity that goes along with being a professional hockey player. Whether it’s a fan seeking an autograph or a puck bunny looking for more, I’ve grown used to the attention. I not only thrive on it; I use it to my … thrive on it; I use it to my advantage. Let’s just say my bed is rarely empty.
When a quirky redhead at the local bookstore stops me dead in my tracks, I decide to pop in and turn on the trusty Wylde magic. As smart and strong-willed as she is beautiful, Clarke Webber isn’t swayed by my witty banter or charming good looks. And when she realizes who I am and the fame that comes along with it, she likes me even less. Thankfully, I’m always up for a challenge. The more I get to know about her, the more I know my playboy days are behind me.
If I’m going to capture Clarke’s heart, it’s time to be a lot less Wylde, and a lot more Aaron.

WYLDE!
We already heard about him a little in the last books. (He’s Tacker’s best friend!)
Wylde is young. Rich. Pretty famous – as far as hockey stars in Arizona can be famous. And he’s single and loving it.
One morning on a run he comes across Clarke’s bookstore and sees her behind the register.
Bam! He’s insta-interested. But he’s not really doing the whole serious dating thing. Not yet. He has some good ‘playa’ years ahead of him. Right?
And Clarke is not really dating either. At least no famous hotties.
But Wylde still gets her to go on a wedding-date with him.
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!
That was adorable and funny!
With a few sad and emotional moments thrown in.
I really enjoyed reading this!
Wylde never had to fight for a date.
Hilarious.
It was all maybe a tiny bit too sweet and easy? Nothing much really happens. Just cute and funny scenes with a few interesting moments thrown in.
And Sawyer has once again used all the AS’s she could get her hands on. Ugh. How I hate that!
(You know the ones, right? She couldn’t pick him up from school, as she had to get her nails done.)
I could understand one British character using it, but it’s the author using it, so ALL her characters talk like that. Ew.
But still – I really loved Wylde – he was mega adorable and nice and hot. A really good guy. Now that he’s done being the wild Wylde. And Clarke and her bookstore – totally adorable too. Even though I kinda had the feeling that I was reading a gay romance all the time. Why name a girl Clarke?? Ugh.
I also loved that we were in the hockey off season – AS I’m not really a hockey fan. SEE WHAT I DID THERE????? I USED ONE OF SAWYER’S HORRIBLE AS’s. I need to go take a shower now.
Can we please get a Sawyer Bennett Hockey Netflix series??
WYLDE was an adorable & fun hockey-bookstore love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own WYLDE – this one is MINE!
Check and score! Sawyer Bennett’s new standalone hockey romance moved to the top of my TBR list for sports romance fix. It includes one of my favorite tropes – opposites attract – so I’ll be curled up in the penalty box to enjoy this new release this weekend.
Well written. Story really held my interest.
ENJOYED THIS BOOK!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
So-so.
Another Wylde man down
Aaron Wylde is known for his playboy tendencies but after winning the Stanley Cup, he’s trying to find a new normal in the off-season – when he stumbles into Clarke’s Corner (and that’s not a euphemism). He promptly decides he likes Clarke and undertakes a wager with her, if he wins she has to accompany him as his date, to two weddings
Suffice to say, Aaron is not who he appears to be and has more layers than an onion I loved this story and Aaron actually grew on me the more I got to know him and I also really loved catching up with all the Vengeance teammates Can’t wait to read Kane’s story next
for the audio –
I really enjoyed listening to Wylde, being there for Aaron & Clarke’s story, and catching up on other Vengeance couples. I thought both narrators, Teddy Hamilton and CJ Bloom did a wonderful job bringing the story to life and making me hear all the characters.
There are minor spoilers ahead…
I adored how Aaron met Clarke. He just couldn’t help himself. Aaron and Clarke’s entire relationship was a fun build up. The other team members and their significant others were so accepting of Clarke. It wasn’t until the end, when I really didn’t like Aaron’s treatment of Clarke. Or everyone’s acceptance that it was Clarke’s fault. They got into a fight, things were misinterpreted and I really wanted to BONK Aaron on the nose for his behavior.
WYLDE by Sawyer Bennett. Aaron Wylde lives his life like his last name – a bit on the wild side. However, things change a bit when he meets Clarke, a quiet bookstore owner that manages to worm her way under his skin. I liked Wylde a lot – despite him being a “player”, I found him to be intelligent, kind, caring and patient. Oh, and can we say super sexy too! Clarke has a few issues when it comes to trust and putting herself out there, with good reason. I did like Clarke a lot – even if I wanted to smack her upside the head a few times. I especially enjoyed some of her inner thoughts in the first chapter when she first encounters Wylde. Now, the story takes place during the hockey offseason, and we are witness to several weddings of other players from previous books. I did enjoy getting to catch up with these characters and witness their devotion, yet, for me, it took a bit too much time as I would have preferred a bit more time of Aaron and Clarke. However, their story was still a heartwarming tale and I loved the journey they took. I highly recommend reading the Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett – all books are filled with so much emotion that kept me turning each page eager to read what was next. (received ARC for honest review)
The playboy falls in love!
Aaron Wylde is very happy to be the playboy of the Arizona Vengeance but when he ran past Clarke’s Corner for the first time something called him to stop and check it out. Aaron asked Clarke to be his date for a wedding and after she turned him down, he made a bet so she would go with him.
Aaron Wylde had never worked so hard to get a date, but Clarke was worth getting to know better because he had never felt like this before with anybody.
The beginning of this one made me giggle. I loved how Clarke and Aaron handle each other. Clarke having preconceived ideas about Aaron even though she had no clue he was a professional athlete, ribbing him a bit here and there but in a fun way. Then Aaron swooping in to stun Clarke and leave her scratching her head and more than intrigued by him. It’s obvious from the start these two will be good for one another.
Clarke definitely has some hang-ups when it comes to anyone who is even a tiny bit famous. She can’t be blamed for being apprehensive after what she went through a few years earlier. Aaron is so patient with her, even before he knows her story. He can tell she’s as skittish as a cat and doesn’t want to scare her off. There’s just something about her that fascinates him and makes him want to know more about her. It’s very sweet.
I may have said it before, but sometimes I really think Sawyer Bennett is a Red Wings fan. Being born and bred literally a few miles from Detroit, I am a Wings fan through and through. Just a couple of weeks after they won the cup in 1997 (after a 42 year drought), tragedy struck the team. Now, that’s as close to a spoiler as I’m going to get. And the incident in the book has nothing, really, to do with Wylde’s story so it’s not really a spoiler. (Though I’m sure it will feature prominently in future stories in this series.) What happens to a teammate isn’t the same thing as what happened in 1997, but it still brought all those memories back to me and made me wonder who this author’s team happens to be. It’s obvious she’s a hockey fan, though.
Anyway, this story is a lot of fun. Along with the problems and snafus the couple hits along the way (that’s not the fun part, I promise), there are weddings galore. So it’s a great way for the loyal Vengeance fan to catch up with their favorite couples. On top of that, we get to know some of the rest of the team that has been in the background over the last season. Which, of course, means more stories about the men on this team. Just the little teasers we got sprinkled in this story have me chomping at the bit for more, more, more!
As for Clarke and Aaron, they get their HEA…of course. The story is engaging, funny, heartbreaking, sexy, and joyful. All the things I love in my romance stories.

Wylde is the seventh book of Arizona Vengeance series. I am standing by what I said in one of my previous reviews about the series. With each and every book, this series is getting better and better.
Aaron Wylde is the latest addition to Vengeance’s first line brotherhood. He is straightforward, honest and loyal. His fun and carefree attitude works like a charm to lure people in 🙂 Ohh and he is the notorious playboy of the team or maybe NHL. After reading this book I realize till now we didn’t really get a chance to know the real Wylde. We got bits and pieces of him in Tacker and Rafe’s books but there wasn’t much. With this book you will get a chance to see a different part of him and funny thing is when he starts to show his hidden parts, even his friends was shocked. So, this all started with a run interrupted by a road work, detoured to a bookstore and ended up with a wager forced date 🙂 Clarke Webber owns a small bookstore called Clarke’s Corner. She is witty, smart and really beautiful. She never thought one morning some jock would come into her store, shamelessly flirt with her and then surprise the hell out of her by his classic literature knowledge. Also, thanks to that literature knowledge he wins 2 wedding dates with her. Yeap, it is the wedding season for Vengeance players. One by one they are tying the knot and I am seeing more weddings in their future. Wylde is intrigued by Clarke but he is losing from the start. Him being a pro-hockey player makes everything harder for him because she doesn’t want to be in limelight. I loved how considered Wylde being towards Clarke. He does everything to earn her trust and turn their relationship more than 2 wager won dates. In some parts Clarke kind of annoyed me but when I learned what happened to her, the way she acts seemed more understandable. It takes a bit for them to find their footing in the relationship/dating because neither of them is familiar with it. It was fun to see Wylde’s transformation to Aaron 🙂 I loved how everyone from the previous books were there to support them in their new beginning.
Wylde is heartwarming, sweet, swoony romantic page-turner. I enjoyed each and every page of this story. It was nice to see all the couples from the previous books and you will also get to see some new faces like Kane Bellan, James Steele and Baden Oulett. I am really curious of all their stories because Sawyer Bennet gives little breadcrumbs here and there and you are intrigued. I am looking forward to reading the next book of the series but mostly I am dying to know what happens to Baden next because if his story ends like this, I will be heartbroken. But I don’t think Dominik will allow it to end it this way. He is my favorite; he always solves everything. So, in Dominik Carsons honor, I will finish my review with his motto: ‘Happy hockey players are champion hockey players.’ 🙂
• Would I recommend this book: Yes
• Would I re-read this book: Done already
• Would I read future books by this author: Yes
Well, I LOVE Sawyer Bennett and have been reading in this series but this book just didn’t capture my attention like the other have. I was honestly bored within the first couple of chapters but stuck it out to about chapter 14 and than just stopped reading….
*****AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
Goodness gracious! This Wylde boy is one of my favorites. He’s seriously sweet and charming. I love how captivated he was with Clarke. I love that she put up a bit of a resistance and they really developed a friendship with some mad attraction lacing the air between them. I have to say, my respect goes up a few notches when the female doesn’t just fall in bed. I have to give Clarke some props! She’s one class act!! Some of my favorite scenes of Wylde was getting to revisit with several previous Arizona Vengeance players and their better halves.
Teddy Hamilton and CJ Bloom were magical!! I love the soft and silky sounds of Bloom’s voice. Paring her with Teddy Hamilton could not have been any better. They are both so flawless in the execution. Love, love, loved this perfect narration!!
This books grabs you from the beginning and makes it hard to put down. It was so easy to put myself in Clarke’s shoes and fall like love with Eric right along with her. Teddy and CJ did a great job narrating that they made me feel like Eric and Clarke were my best friends. I would recommend this book to everyone.
What a great story!
We met Aaron Wylde for the first time in Tacker, and it was clear from the start there was a lot more to this playboy than met the eye. When he sees Clarke for the first time, it’s game on.
Clarke was such a fun heroine, since she really wasn’t interested in Aaron at the start, and he really had to work at it to win her over. There were a lot of really fun elements to this story that held your attention and kept you wanting more.
The story did end a little too soon for me (I wanted more!), and I would have really liked an epilogue. But it was another great addition to this fun series and I can’t wait for the next!
~ 5 WYLDE AND WONDERFUL STARS! ~~
OMG! I am positively WYLDE about this seventh installment in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series! This sweet, swoony and sizzling hot opposites attracts story, featuring notorious playboy Aaron Wylde who might have to trade in his bachelor card for good when he falls head over heels for a sweet, skittish book shop owner, scored HUGE! And…shhhh…. it might just be my favorite AV book to date!!!
THE PREMISE:
With most of his closest teammates happily paired off, Aaron Wylde is still clinging to his bachelor status like a cherished hockey puck. And now that his team has won the coveted Stanley cup, he’s in QUITE the celebratory mood! For the past ten days, it’s been all about booze, women, and living life on his terms! But all that is about to change for this King of One-Night Stands when he happens upon a quaint bookshop during his morning jog and becomes transfixed by the beautiful, brainy store owner.
While there is an undeniable sizzle of attraction between them, the quirky redhead is prickly and guarded, due to emotional baggage from her past. But Wylde’s a man on a mission and it’s game on for this suddenly smitten Adonis who pursues Clarke with a vengeance! Not only does he trick her into going out with him by waging a bet which works in his favor but he keeps coming around even when the terms of their arrangement have been fulfilled. And the more he gets to know this gorgeous, adorably nerdy woman, the more intrigued and enamored he becomes. Trouble is, he’s more than met his match in the reticent beauty who has no intention of allowing him to win her heart!
Clarke has been burned in love—in a MAJOR way—by a man in the limelight before and is far from impressed with Wylde’s celebrity status. And is not about to be another puck bunny notch on his bedpost. But…SHEESH…this gigantic, hard-muscled hockey hottie with the panty-dropping dimples, is not backing down one iota…and does a number on her libido! Before long, she finds that there is more to this notorious ladies’ man than meets the eye and finds herself magnetically drawn to his hot, seductive charms—which leads to some EXPLOSIVE FIREWORKS! But when the skeletons from her past rear their ugly head once again can she truly risk her heart once gain and take the biggest gamble of her life on this Wylde and Wonderful man?
MY MUSINGS:
Holy wow was I WYLDE about this latest installment in the captivating AV series! Each and every book in the highly entertaining Arizona Vengeance series has that special quality that makes me fall in love with Ms. Bennett’s writing all over again. The compilation of her warm, breezy writing style, finely honed story craftsmanship, lovably flawed characters, steamy sensuality, heartfelt emotion, and universal, relatable themes truly make these books sparkle.
So, it should come as no surprise that this heart-tugging, opposites attracts romance was SHEER ENCHANTMENT! Wylde and Clarke “meet cute” and from that instant on, I was totally reeled into this love story, hook, line and sinker! Beyond the combustible chemistry and palpable push-pull between this captivating duo, there was just something about their romantic connection that transcended their hot burning lust.
Sighhh! I mean, is there anything more enticing than a book featuring a sweet, devilishly sexy hockey player who thinks he’s king of the world only being knocked down a peg by the woman of his dreams? I THINK NOT! Wylde was totally taken by Clarke from the start but she sure does not make it easy on him. But even though this love ’em and leave ’em first-line defenseman has quite the rep, he is NO QUITTER! Because something in his gut tells him she’s worth fighting for. I love how sweet, patient, affectionate, gentle and loving he was with Clarke yet at the same time he had his caveman alpha moments too. Especially when he’s in hot pursuit…and in the throes of MIND-BLOWING PASSION! And whew did these two burn up the sheets!
The romantic strife that was explored throughout resonated deeply. Clarke has been wounded horribly in the past and because of it her walls are erected around her heart. But little by little, her hunky, tender-hearted hockey player chips away at her defenses…and he proves time and again that he is hardly the “dumb jock” she originally pegged him to be. He’s hot, and interesting, and smart. Not to mention charming and funny. And it’s just a matter of time before Clarke succumbs to temptation! And in turn, falling of her helps Wylde come to terms with some residual pain in his past from his dysfunctional upbringing.
I like how Ms. Bennett incorporates the characters’ love of classical literature into the fabric of the story, helping these two polar opposites find common ground and infusing the plot with a delightful level of fun and whimsy! While, admittedly, at times Clarke’s deep-seated trust issues and bullheadedness were a huge stumbling block for this couple, I totally got where she was coming from due to her past trauma. And when all is said and done, Ms. Bennett penned a love story that struck an indelible chord and ended on a high note!
As with all the books in the series, there is a warm familiarity, close camaraderie, and bond of brotherhood between Wylde and his AV family that just melts the heart. Ms. Bennett does a masterful job of incorporating all the players and their lady loves into the fabric of the story, catching us up to speed with the past couples and also adding some dramatic twists into the mix. In this installment, I love how Wylder’s teammate bolster him up and cheer him along when the going gets rough in the wooing department! Plus, I found it endearing how all the teammates’ women were so welcoming toward Clarke during their get togethers. Speaking of which, without spoiling too much, there are some long awaited weddings thrown into the mix that had me smiling with glee…and shedding joyous tears! And SOB!! There’s also a heartbreaking development involving one of the players that’s guaranteed to decimate!
BOTTOM LINE:
WYLDE is a bona fide winner! Ultimately this hot and steamy, feel-good sports romance celebrates the transformative power of love, moving on from heartache to embrace a new tomorrow, and it serves as a beautiful reminder that we should never, EVER judge a book by its cover.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I love hockey. I am drawn to any hockey romance and Sawyer Bennett is my favorite author for just those stories. This series has had me hooked since the first story. Wylde has to be my favorite of the series. I love when a hero has to work to get his girl. Clark does not make it easy for Wylde. But Wylde is determined to get his girl. These two are complete opposites, or so we think. Clark loves books so much that she runs a bookstore. Wylde is a player, with women and in hockey. As Wylde breaks through Clark’s walls, we discover they have much more in common. I love the push and pull between them. Wylde captured my heart as he really worked hard to capture Clark’s. Sawyer Bennett hooked me from the first chapter and I could not stop listening until the end.
Teddy Hamilton and CJ Bloom really bring this story to life. I felt as if I was right there in the story with them. Wylde and Clark became more like friends to me and I just could not get enough of them. Teddy was a great Wylde. He brought out the ruggedness that I expect from hockey players, yet Teddy was also able to bring out Wylde’s softness as he woos Clark. CJ narrated Clark as I imagined her, strong willed and determined. I really enjoyed this narrating team and I hope to hear more from them.
