Sink your teeth into 700 pages of pulse-pounding paranormal romance. Welcome to my corner of the Zodiac Shifter universe.Wylde Magick is pure, untamed source material. Ancient and wise, it’s existed since the dawn of time. No matter how old it is, though, it’s under attack from evil that threatens the very fabric of its existence.GemstoneAn unnatural fog causes a ten-car pileup. Niall nearly … ten-car pileup. Niall nearly chokes on the thick, malevolent power hanging around the accident site. Anger running just below boiling point, he takes his jaguar form and follows a scent track, making a discovery that changes everything. For once, he curses his curiosity and wishes he’d left well enough alone.
Lion’s Lair
Jeremiah is the closest thing his mage kinfolk have to an alpha. He takes his responsibilities seriously, which hasn’t left time for much of anything, and it’s about to get worse. Mages are in trouble. A few signed on with vampires, causing human deaths. Because of them, all mages are being smeared with the traitor brush. It might be too late to make a difference, but that’s never stopped him before.

Zachary Marston, dragon shifter, hasn’t done a whole lot of shifting lately. Nope, he spends his time buried in law books as he presides over Superior Court in Denver. He’s convinced himself things are great, but his dragon has other ideas. His bondmate is a tough adversary. After it threatens to abandon him, Zachary gives in and agrees to a meeting with a few other shifters. Maybe he can help out—before returning to his cushy courtroom.

Gemstone 5*
Excellent! Very well written paranormal that can stand on its own, the romance is secondary but very well blended into the plot. The shifters are slipping and have become too comfortable trying to live like humans and the vampires are ready and able to take advantage of their complacency. Niall is all alpha but welcomes the playboy lifestyle. Sarai has no use for a relationship, she demands her independence. Both are strong-willed warriors yet compliment one another, their chemistry bridges the gap and opens the door for them to find exactly what they were not looking for…love in the midst of war. I also really like the bondmate concept and how the author portrays them. Great, consuming, adventurous and captivating paranormal romance!
Lion’s Lair 5*
Very captivating and interesting story. Full of action and adventure. Jeremiah is a great character, strong-willed & very giving which also describes Renee so of course they bump heads. Their stubbornness adds friction to their attraction, fuel to the fire. When danger boldly shows up, the intensity (on all levels) escalates. Love this addition to the series.

This bunch has had their share of dangerous adventures as they fight the vampires that are determined to reign. Each addition to this series provides growth in the plot and knowledge in the characters magic, the romance is always the “icing”. Zee comes across as arrogant & prideful which isn’t a shocker since he is a dragon shifter but he is very mature, knowledgeable and powerful. Chloe is much younger, less trusting, very happily independent but very eager to be chosen by a bond mate. They bump heads but both are smart enough to know that they battle they have fight will require all the help they can get and as they work through their differences of opinion and get to know one another they discover their attraction for one another is a risk worth taking. Zee is never in denial, he just has to be patient and wait for Chloe to catch up, lol.
This is an epic tale of shifters, magic and vampires. Ann Gimpel is a wonderful author that can take words and make them come to life. I have read several books by her and each one will draw the reader in so deeply that you feel like you are there. These books are no exception. This world and these characters are so imaginative, complex and unpredictable.

This is the beginning and is Niall and Sarai’s tale. I love Niall. A sexy, Irish jaugar shifter that’s been around for centuries. In his job as an EMT, he and his partner are sent to a major accident that was caused by vampires and magic. Vampires have kidnapped wolf shifter, Sarai, and her uncle, Stephan. They have learned to use the shifter’s magic to cause chaos and death. Niall and Sarai have an intense attraction, but saving shifters from the vampire’s mage power is the priority.
Lion’s Lair
Mages and shifters are still not friendly, much less willing to work together. Jeremiah finds himself bonded with an ancient cave lion spirit after his incident with the vampires. Renee has been bonded with her ancient eagle for years and knows right away when Jeremiah bonds with his lion. Her eagle insists she go find the new shifter. Jeremiah’s bond mate has not bonded with anyone for a really long time and expects to run the show against the vampires like the old days. On top of the vampire situation, Jeremiah is worried how his mage kin will react to his bonding. I love how the mages accepted Jeremiah and his new life.

I love how as more shifters are joining forces, the old ones all seem to know each other. In this case, that might not be so good. Zachary, Zee for short, has charred a few bridges in his past. His bond mate, a dragon, is not pleased with their isolation. Finding out more about the Vampire War, Zee meets Chloe after an attack. I was so excited for Chloe and Zee. Their problem seems to be communication. I was really excited they went to the other dragons for help.
Like all of Ms. Gimpel’s works everything is so intense and powerful. There is so much action and suspense that I wasn’t able to put it down. Still so much to do to prepare for the next attack. You will be enthralled with this series. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
