Mistaken identity, drunk texts, and hysterical mishaps… just another day in my life.Girls all over the world spill the tea to me about their most intimate questions. They thank me for talking about sex with them. For fixing their love lives.I wonder if I’d still be a relationship influencer if they knew what a train wreck my own love life is?If I was writing anyone else advice, it would say things … writing anyone else advice, it would say things like:
Never drunk-text your ex-boyfriend.
No, seriously, that’s a terrible idea.
But if you insist, maybe double-check the number first.
Oops.
But I guess I give good…text, because the stranger I messaged wrote back.
And I responded.
He doesn’t have to put up with my colorful personality—as my hot next-door neighbor describes me. Or my messy schedule.
This relationship is as seemingly perfect as my online persona.
Until we agree to meet up.
When he meets the real me, will he hate me forever?
Or will we be one day telling our grandkids about that wrong text, right love?

Good characters, but started slow & took a while to get into.
Absolutely awful! I very seldom do not finish a book, but I did not have any interest in finishing this one,
Enjoyed the characters and the series
I’m the wrong age group for this book so this review is simply for anyone 60+. Not one character caught my interest and I just stopped reading it. I can see where it would appeal to a younger audience.
What a cute book!! I am a total newbie in the social media world and I was just amazed at what a person goes through when they are considered “an influencer” for social media and really, just why on earth would they even want to do that. I think the author did a great job of writing this book (in the current pandemic atmosphere) to make it seem like a realistic event that could actually happen.
I, myself, am so leery of who might actually be on the other end of a computer or gaming system (stranger danger is something that I’ve really worried about with my own kids) that I don’t get into chat rooms or open myself up even to gaming systems that are multiplayer-types. So the randomness of Persy and Lang getting to really know each other by an accidental texting situation is crazy enough to make a good story. In fact, their ability to connect and “talk” really turned out to be the perfect situation where they could open up and be themselves without worrying about what someone else thinks or have the whole world see what they are doing was exactly what they both needed to work through their respective issues and heal.
I will definitely read more books by Claudia Burgoa if they are anything at all like this one. She did a great job of presenting the characters in a realistic way and I really could feel the pain that Persy and Lang were hiding behind. Although Claudia considered this book light and fun I thought that she presented a lot of mythology and history into the characters which was super interesting (but kind of deep) to me. I’m going to look for the additional books that will follow this first book in the Against All Odds series.
Written in the format of a chapter of his thinking, maybe her responses; and then her thinking aka POV. So it is internal and external conversations all the way through as they each deal with their own world and hangups. Made me laugh many times. It does drag a bit in the middle with the whole story line stretched a bit long. But, well worth it to keep reading. Only real sex scene is at the end.
Why wait with a review while still reading but loving it so much?!? Get this funny and emotional read now, and have a smile on your face. Blink the tear from the corner of your eye….
I am just loving the banter between Persy/Joy and Chad/Lang, style of writing, the suspicion of set up that seeps into the story as where I got stuck yesterday… Loving it. Can’t wait to get back to the book!
And now that I finished it, 5 rating is earned. How to trust and hand over your heart, so beautiful written. Claudia, you rock. Nate, Eros, here I come.
I liked this book very much. I will try to read more by this author. she has a great writing style.
Really great story. I got it free and now am sucked into wanting to get Nyx’s book next. Loved the story and how she is this super smart, witty woman who’s successful as a counselor and social media personality. Essentially she is the educated and licensed version of carries Bradshaw (sex and the city). After some mishaps she rents out a place with neighbor Chad/Ford. Long story about the name issue. Mostly it’s because of her connection to him through mutual acquaintances/family. And lord/ half truths about their relationship (Sheila and Clyde). I actually liked Ford from the beginning even when he was grumpy. He was straight forward and honest. He was who he was. Yes jaded but he wasn’t in denial about that. He had been used and abused and refused to let it happen. I don’t blame him especially when you people out there who are friends(pretends) for years and have been stealing money (spoiler). I loved her text-steady relationship with Lang. And then the major plot twists that you kinda see coming. Mostly because when you analyze the conversations. You see how straight forward Lang and Persy are as well as persy and her possible love interest. I loved that Ford didn’t rush and waited until they both knew what they wanted. Because then no one gets hurt or lead on. Loved how he was so upset over people trying to steal and hurt her. Loved her crazy family. And I loved Persephone’s personality. She is bubbly and colorful and her self without apology and loved that she really didn’t have censure because people should be more open and communicate about the taboo things. Then maybe there wouldn’t be so many misunderstandings and loss.
What a fantastic read. This was the first book I read by Claudia and I loved it. It made me laugh out loud and also some emotional tears. But that’s good. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
A little confusing to follow the names at first but hang in there and it will all make sense quickly. This book was funny and entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
He doesn’t believe in love so he keeps relationships brief. She’s so caught up in her life as an influencer that she doesn’t even realize she doesn’t know who she is any more.
With a book deal on the line and a deadline looming Persy is relocating to a quiet penthouse apartment to stay on task but it seems the guy next door thinks he knows her job better than she does.
He isn’t sure how the no-it-all woman ended up in his brother’s apartment next door or why her cat seems to like his apartment better, and he doesn’t know why he keeps offering unsolicited advice while she’s recording her podcast yet he can’t seem to stop himself. The most confusing thing is he can’t figure out why he’s become so protective of his new neighbor, until she proves that she’s just like all the rest.
RATING 4.5 STARS
Wrong Text, Right Love is book one in the Against All Odds series by Claudia Burgoa. I’ve been wanting to start this series for so long and I’m glad I finally found the time because I enjoyed it so much. These two were complete opposites, or so they thought. This was a fun, sweet book that I can’t wait to tell you about!
Persephone (Persy) Brassard is twenty eight years old and is a very successful influencer. She has a degree in psychology and runs a blog where she gives advice to people all over the world. She is also an author of self help books. As a result, she shares her life through social media with the world. Persy believes in love, her parents are a perfect example. But she herself hasn’t been so lucky. Her boyfriends call her fun, but not the kind of person they can bring home to their mothers. With her recent break up, she needs a new place to live. Luckily, her agent is able to help her find a great place except for her new grumpy next door neighbor.
“Love is extremely complicated and should be handled with care. I choose not to deal with it.”
Ford Chadwick is thirty four years old and is a self made billionaire. He is a workaholic and thrives on his privacy. He requires quiet to concentrate on his projects. He stays completely away from all social media. His home is his sanctuary until the new neighbor moves in. Ford does not believe in love, especially for himself. Past experiences have proven that it’s not for him. When the beautiful new neighbor starts distracting him with her yoga on the balcony and that sexy voice, his life is turned upside down.
While Ford and Persy battle it out as neighbors, Persy struggles to figure out what she keeps doing wrong in her relationships. She rarely allows herself to drink too much but on a rare occasion while out with her sisters, she does and drunk dials her ex. Only it’s not her ex, but a stranger she oddly connects with. They begin the perfect relationship, no names, no private details, just talking, sharing, getting to know each other.
Persy and Ford’s relationship confuses them both. While they argue more than anything else and irritate each other, they also feel attracted to one another. But doing anything about it is off limits. They are neighbors and don’t even like each other. The more time they spend together, though, lines seem to blur. At the same time, Persy’s text relationship is also confusing and addicting. She’s never felt so free to share with anyone before. They are getting to know each other at a level she’s never experienced.
This book was just so much fun, completely adorable. I loved Persy and Ford. And watching things play out was just so endearing. I was turning the pages to see how it was all going to work out. I loved getting to know both of their families. The next book is called Didn’t Expect You and features Nyx, Persy’s sister whom I have already met in Claudia’s The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers series. And Nate, who is Ford’s brother. I can’t wait to read it!
This is such a funny book and the exchanges between Persy Brassard and Ford Chadwick is quite hilarious and comical at times. Persy’s business manager rented the apartment next to Ford Chadwick’s for Persy for an extend period of time. What Persy come to find out is that her business manager’s husband is Ford and his twin brother Nate’s step-brother and the step-brother and his wife have used the Chadwick’s assets (without them knowing) to make money. So basically the Chadwick’s are getting the rent money and her business manager is charging Persy rent!
As they try to resolve all the drama around the rental and such, Ford does not realize that Persy is a social media influencer. She has a talk show about sex and writes books about relationships. Ford hears Persy’s advice on her talk show through their wall and they have exchanges about her thoughts and his opinions. While Persy and Ford can’t seem to stand each other and really have no one in their lives, they do have a “pen pal” relationship via texts with people they each don’t know and had contacted the other pen pal by text accidentally. The texts are so much fun to read and the live interaction between the 2 are fun read. And they can’t figure who their text pen pals (and is hesitant to anyway) but also feel the real life attraction to each other.
This was such a fun and light hearted read and the characters are so interesting. I can’t wait for more books in this series. A crazy family who love each other very much and 2 brothers that rely on each other.
I didn’t want to put down Wrong Text, Right Love! It is sweet and sassy, with a fun twist!
Chad and Percy challenge each other and have such a playful banter going on between them, whether it is face to face conversations or texting as they navigate the thread from enemies, to friends and on to lovers.
I really wanted to like this book. Based on the reviews I’d read, I fully expected to. But from the start, this was a hard one to finish. The love interest spent the first chapter ranting about how women shouldn’t expect to be the exception in his friends with benefits rule because all he wants from them is sex. And oh yeah, he’s so good in bed that they eventually think it’s because they can change him. That’s a pretty pessimistic attitude for a romance book, and a little too crude for me the way he put it. But, I thought. I’ll keep reading and see if he can redeem himself.
The problem with this book is that he never did. He’s completely rude to Persy, the woman who moves in next door to him. I mean, threatening to kick her out of the apartment rude. And when she does her podcasts, he offers up his opinions without her asking, then tells her why he’s right about relationships and she’s wrong. Says the man who has never held a woman in bed without having sex with her. Their relationship never fully develops. Talking about your relationship history and about other couples is not a foundation to fall in love, so I didn’t understand the attraction. Yes, he was cute, but I need more than that when he was, honestly, just a jerk. And then she tells him later that he’s charming!
The podcasting part was interesting, but went on for too long in my opinion. I didn’t want to read a self-help book. I wanted a romance. Even the text messages were more about the past than the present. The other conflicts in the book came out of nowhere and made no sense. Her sister stops talking to her for no real reason. A friendship seems to end, and she just says she wants an apology. Everything about this book didn’t really make sense. Sentences came out of nowhere and didn’t flow with the story. And it was repetitive, which was just an awful combination. Like I said, I try to find something to like in every book but this one had nothing for me that I can recommend.
Hilarious and completely heartwarming I laughed so hard in some areas and swooned in others I couldn’t put this book down even when you know what’s coming up next it still hits you as a shock and surprise moment
Maaaaaaaaaaaaan, this was FUN!! I know the blurb says this is a cute rom-com, but it was more than just comedy, it was a sweet and sexy, light, slow burn romance no one should be missing out on. Very low on the angst but relatable and real and very captivating. This world these two found themselves in is very real to present day and how we all communicate and it was fun looking from the outside in to what could potentially happen when a text runs amok!
I’ve been told countless times thru the years that this author should be on my auto-buy list by reader and author friends who know what I like and dislike in my romance fiction and I’m not saying I wasn’t listening, but I maybe *oops* I should have listen more intently because the last two books I’ve read by her have been absolute perfection for me. So listen, read this book and check out her backlist while you’re at it because there is some seriously good books there!
Wrong text, right love has everything I love in a good romance. It is opposites attract, drunk text/wrong number, very slow burn, enemies to friend to lovers story and the journey of falling in love.
Perry is a very famous influencer, she has written books and has a weekly relationship/sex podcast #lifewithPersy. With millions of followers and brand endorsements you would think she is living a happy life but unfortunately living in the public eye is not as easy as it seems. Her boyfriend broke up with her because of her career; her publisher wants her to write a book about dating and demands that she makes public the whole process of going out on dates and also gives her a deadline to find a boyfriend. She is disillusioned because of her past experiences and all she really wants is a real relationship. How can she be taken seriously and find a connection with someone if she has to share everything online? On top of that she is living with her parents and needs a place to live on her own soon.
Her best friend Sheila finds her an apartment to live but she has a #neighbourfromhell situation called Chad/Ford, Sheila’s brother in law.
Ford is used to his quiet life, he doesn’t believe in love or relationships. He works from home and enjoys the calm and peace of his apartment. Until loud and outspoken Persy moves next door to him. With her annoying podcast recordings and daily yoga streaming she is a distraction he doesn’t need in his life. On top of that she is Sheila’s friend and they don’t get along to say the least.
Persy and Ford spend most of their time arguing. They annoy each other but the pair develop a neighbourly friendship and the bickering turns into flirty banter. They can’t deny there is an attraction too but they are aware that all he wants is a private life and no serious relationship whereas her life is in the public eye and she longs for a happily ever after.
Omg I absolutely loved this story. This was a wonderfully written rom com. This book is about risking it all for love. Persy and Ford will make you fall in love with love. The push and pull will pull you into the story. There is so much drama also that it will have you spinning your head. Claudia gives us characters to fall in love with and stories that suck you in. 5 star book all the way.
Who are Martha and her mystery man? Who is his brother? Who are Persy, Nyx, Eros, and Callie? Love the reason behind their names! Where ar or were Persy, Nyx, and Callie? What happened? WHo are Tiffany and Jerry? What do we learn about them and how? Who are Nate and Ford? What about Clyde and Sheila do we learn? Oh, that’s a convoluted one! How we get to meet most of these folks was interesting for me. They kept me engrossed in the storyline! The things that happened to and with Persy really had me feeling a bit blue and hopeful at all the same time. This is definitely a must not miss read! Enjoy it.
