A Paranormal Women’s Fiction with tons of humor. For many, midlife is the beginning. It was a day like any other day for Marina Trahan…until she caught her husband in bed with another woman. Before that eye-opening wake-up call, Marina would have described her life as average or uneventful, maybe even boring. But now, chaos and confusion reign supreme. She’d expected to slide through midlife with … through midlife with her unwanted extra pounds, chin hair, and hot flashes and move somewhat gracefully into elastic waist pants and having no verbal filter. But with a wayward husband, a high-maintenance daughter, a lackluster career, and a crazy mother all weighing her down, Marina is ready to wave the white flag of surrender.
Then an intriguing stranger named Alexios shows up out of nowhere and insists she is descended from a goddess and is the only person who can save the world from certain destruction. She has roughly a week to do it. Solving a centuries-old mystery seems like a more interesting proposition than the other situations Marina is facing, so she accepts his challenge. But her search for a magical item of power reveals far more about Marina than she ever knew. Maybe enough to save the world. And even herself.

I’ve been reading and loving Jana DeLone for years. She NEVER disappoints. I absolutely adored Wrong Side of Forty. She knocks this one out of the park!
Delightful cozy mystery read. Not much paranormal–it’s all about the characters and the journey. Nicely fast-paces (some cozies just aren’t!) Highly recommend for fun, zany and good cozy read!
“Wrong side of 40? More like the right side of funny and a fantastic read from Jana DeLeon!”
This was such a fun read. Marina a forty something woman who is about to be single again thanks to her cheating husband moves in to the old little house at the fishing camp that belonged to her mother.
After quitting her job at the hair styling salon thanks to the owner being the cousin of the girl that her soon to be ex-husband was currently having sex with.
Soon Marina finds out some disturbing and hard to believe information, seems that she is a descendant of a God. She also finds out that there is an old artifact that she must find before her world and the world of the Gods both are destroyed.
This one is well written has great world building is full of twists and made me laugh several times.
I also thought that the story was unique. I have not read another one like it.
If you love a good paranormal, a strong older female lead and an easy read this one is for you.
This book was so much fun! I highly recommend the new paranormal women’s fiction genre for those who like light paranormal elements and heroines who have been there, done that and have got the gray hairs to prove it!
To say Marina Trahan is thrown for a loop is an understatement. She finds her husband in bed with a woman barely older than their daughter, said daughter is high maintenance, her mom is a sandwich short of a picnic and now she is allegedly descended from a goddess? This was not the midlife Marina expected!
Be prepared to laugh out loud – a lot – during this fun read filled with quirky, crazy characters, including an immortal or two. I have never read this author, and I am now wondering why I never jumped on the Jana DeLeon train, as it is one fun ride! I liked her writing style and I loved that our heroine, although possibly a goddess, is a real middle-aged woman with some extra pounds and a very non-perfect family who is now getting her true coming of age! I also loved the one “perfect” in her life, half-sister Halcyon, who every woman needs in her life as a right-hand everything! The only blip in this story is that Marina needs some love, Ms. DeLeon. I think Luke just might fit the criteria for that, so I cannot wait for the next book in this #pwf series!
Jana Deleon is a new author for me – I found her through “The Fab 13”. Wrong Side of Forty is the first book of hers that I have read & I loved it. I don’t like to give any spoilers in my reviews, so I will just say that after reading this book I would have to say it is definitely not the wrong side at all. This book was a fast read for me (which is really saying something because it was a new author for me). If you like to read about women who are 40+ who finally realizes that she has no more ducks to give and she isn’t going to apologize anymore, who finds out she can live her life her way and along her journey also forms great friendships to last a lifetime and even has some magic mixed in – check out this book. Ms. Deleon has a new fan – I will be checking out some of her other books while I wait patiently for the next in this series.
This book is wacky and needs you to suspend disbelief but the ride is so much fun, you are more than willing to do it. I don’t usually like books that involve the old gods but this was so much fun, I was fine with it. The heroine is someone you can’t help but pull for and the bad guys, such creeps you are happy to cheer their downfall. The ending is a big win and makes you feel wonderful. It’s a fun ride start to finish, I haven’t read a book of her’s I don’t love.
Jana Deleon is a wonderful writer, and her main characters have gumption. This has a great older heroine!
Funny typical 40’s feelings. Great read.
Oh what fun! This is a must read. Jana never disappoints. Loved every last word.
Not wrong side at all! Fabulous would be right description of it!
When life turns upside down and you got a choice to start absolutely new life and be who you want to be and who you want to spend your time with. Add some Greek gods and magic to it and story just flows! Hilariously funny story line with many great developed characters, some to love some to hate, some you just laugh at. Marina, Falcyon, Alexios… I adore the elder ladies Dottie and Adelaide! I want to be them when I grow up!
Can’t wait for the next book to see what’s for Marina and crew coming next.
This was a cute and fun read, I would definitely recommend it to others but with a small side note.
I’m giving only 4 stars because the paranormal aspects of the story are kind of thin, when I think about a paranormal book I imagine the theme is integrated fairly heavily into the entire story, this one just kind of felt like an afterthought almost to me. Also the MC when the book begins for me was kind of hard to read, she seemed very naive and like too much of a pushover, however as her story progressed and she began to discover her true self and be who SHE wanted to be she became a much more beautiful character.
All around it’s a good read, not too emotional but definitely fun.
Wrong Side Of Forty by Jana Deleon was incredibly funny and refreshing to read!
Marina’s whole life is turned upside down when she gets home from work early to find her husband cheating on her! Chaos and southern sass at every turn. These characters were amazing and the story so well written!
Cant wait for more! Definitely hope to see more of Alexios!
I loved it! I love to read all of Jana Deleon’s books!
This book may be titled ‘Wrong Side of Forty’ but it hit the right side of almost everything I like in a book! The story is engaging and the characters are alternately funny and wise. I was either laughing or highlighting sentences that I liked. The main character and her problems were well written and I enjoyed the supporting cast and their stories which added so much to the book. I will definitely look up more of Jana DeLeon’s books after reading this one.
Hilarious characters! Loved the story…Great boo! I had read books by Jana Deleon before & was very happy to hear of this new genre with 40+ heroines. And, I was not disappointed, she had me from the start! Couldn’t tell you if I was more in love with the 2 sisters in their 40’s or the older women who were Dynamic in their own right. I laughed, & I laughed a lot, I cried & I fell for these characters. Their bond… and so much of the sentiments, action were true to life. Well, not the Goddess part, but hey… A definite must read! Can not wait for the next installment!, the PWF truly knocked these out of the park!
Another fanatics read in the paranoral women’s fiction stories! I’ve never read this author before but the premise of these stories intrigued me, so I’m reading them one by one. A women nearing her 50’s has her life turned upside down when she catches her husband cheating on her. Feeling angry and bereft she moves out to her mother’s old cabin the the bayou. A strange person however seems to be following her and what he has to say is even more insane. On top of everything else in her life falling apart, she now has to find some magical object for the gods? Insane right? It’s not though. It’s actually a funny story, with a pretty fascinating cast of characters and a new beginning for a woman who has just now begun to find herself.
This the first book I’ve read by Jana DeLeon. It had me holding my belly, LOL over & over.
Marina definitely comes up on the winning side of 40.
I CAN NOT! WAIT! FOR! MORE!!
An absolute must read!

OMG! You have got to read this. I have been describing Marina’s antics to people in my office – even non-romance readers. They all laugh and nod. They all get it and love it. I love how Marina talks to people and stands up for herself. The way she describes Alexios just cracks me up. Their conversations between each other are like a good table tennis match. Wrong Side of Forty is the right side of fun and shenanigans! This is a must read. So grab the book, some chocolate & wine and lock yourself away to enjoy as you hoot up a storm!
