DI Sally Parker is a character with lots of flaws and ever more determination to catch this killer. Her decision makes for a satisfying ending tied to the serial killer.
Hold your interest; surprise ending. Love crime stories.
A must read

Great mystery

I really enjoyed this book.
I couldn’t put it down I had to know what happens
Great read. Great suspense.
This is the first book in a series. A British police procedural with a lead detective, Sally, and her partner Jack. Both lead lives with family drama as Jack finds out his daughter is pregnant at just 16 and Sally has finally divorced her abusive husband.
Victims are being found strangled, raped, and knifed and their clothes in a pile. The first one worked at a bar, and then the second is found dead and she also worked at a bar. There is DNA evidence found at the scenes and in today’s world, people know how to hide most of the evidence…. but this DNA is easily seen and gathered.
There is the undercurrent of Sally’s abuse as her ex husband tracks her down. And more women turn up dead. The big question for me is why the public or bars were not informed to watch their staff as they left at night, to keep around people as you walk home and to be wary.
Once the DNA is processed and a man arrested, it seems the case is closed, but is it??
The murderer is suppose to shock you, the reader, but as more things to light, it just didn’t ring true…the man and his reasons did not seem real and throwing in his wife and a secret surprise……well, it didn’t work for me
The editor should have said, enough, end it already without more psycho drama about the guy.
It was a thriller, and moved along at a good pace. I recommend this book.
Love all the books in series!
The story line of this book with the twists and turns was quite interesting. The little side trips of the main characters past helps the reader to remember that the authorities do have a life outside of work despite the gravity of the crime being investigated. The authorities were rather blunt and uncaring in their interactions with family and friends of the victims. I wouldn’t appreciate being given the information on a friend or loved one in the manner this book depicts. Regardless, the plot was very interesting and kept my interest throughout.
Really, this is about abusive relationships. There are those who believe they have the right to impose their will on those smaller or weaker. This story takes place in the UK. Since I do not know about the procedures for crime investigation in the UK I will refrain from comments on that portion of the story. Hopefully, they don’t really dismiss persons for not resolving a crime in a set time. “Scott”, thinks he can get away with murder, and Sally with her partner Jack are running out of time finding the criminal. Or they will remove her from the case. This rapist/murderer has plans though. He is framing another for his deeds with the use of a very personnal substance. It isn’t until a victim is found with evidence that can not possibly be from the person they think, because they have him in custody. Sally has a problem as well, that is her estranged husband.
A good read, but I recommend it for those of a mature level. I especially recommend for the young and carefree women. I had a co worker who was in an abusive relationship. I even offered to go with her to keep her safe while she “packed out.” She is dead now.
It was good had a hard time trying to figure out the slang from another country.
Did not like the bad language & sexual situations.
Good read kind of predictable. But keeps you guessing
Good
I am generally a fan of English mysteries at least partially because they use language correctly. That is about all this book had going for it. It was written like someone following a checklist of how tos, and failing dismally. I always finish a book even when I am not thrilled by it, and I chucked this one about half-way through because it was just painful to read. The main character was, well, stupid, and unpredictable in a bad way. I have nothing good to say to I will not say any more.
