Every little girl dreams of the fairytale. The one where the white knight rushes in to save her from the clutches of evil. They fall in love, have babies, and live happily ever after.By that definition, my life should have been a fairytale too. When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him … in love with him all the same.
But that was where my fairytale ended.
Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good.
At the end of every fairytale, the happily-ever-after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine, but there hadn’t been a night that passed where I hadn’t prayed that it would be hers.
I owed Caven my life.
However, I owed that innocent child more.
And that included ripping the heart from my chest and facing her father again.

Give me a supernatural fated love story any day. This particular story flowed well and kept my interest so I ended up reading it in a day. It was well written and the characters were well developed. It did leave off on a cliffhanger so I wasn’t super excited about that but I will likely purchase the second installment. My hope is that this writer will have solid conclusions in future stories instead of a “to be continued” type of ending. The story writing is good enough to keep you coming back for more
Any book by Aly Martinez is a one-click for me. Awesome book
Like everything Aly writes, this gut wrenching novel was fantastic.
I would have given it 5 stars but you have to buy another book to get the ending.
Fabulous book. Bought the second straight away. Loved the characters and the twists in the story.
This was an intense read. I loved how Caven found his way into being a good father, and was truly shocked by the end of this half of the story. The trauma was handled sensitively, and the results were believable.
unique story line/romantic mystery throughout with totally surprise ending causing
desire for book 2
I wish I had known it was a to be continued book.
This was such a heart-wrenching duet book, this has so many twists and some shock reviles that makes you very Teary, with a cliffhanger at the end, but; don’t worry, it’s ok because the second book is out called ‘Written with You’.
Loved this story! The characters are amazing! I was not happy to find out that it was a two book series and to finish the story I have to buy another book.
This book was excellent. Very well written. I recommend reading it.
I just read this! It was very good. The characters really captured my attention, keeping me reading page after page.
This duet has all the feels. From “. . . textng Ian at four in the morning to offer him a hundred million dollars to adopt her if she ended up being my daughter. The bastard didn’t even try to negotiate before texting me back with a blunt no.” To “then Caven Hunt landed a blow far worse than the bullet that pierced my stomach. Then you have nothing left.”
I’ve read these books twice now, and I can guarantee you I will read them again.
Loved it! Had to go get the 2nd one immediately!
Loved the humor scattered throughout. Shocked and surprised near end of book. Can’t wait to read the next one.
There were several twists to this book. I’d buy it again.
Loved this book! Dived immediately into the sequel. Aly Martinez writes painful and longing beautifully.
It’s not 1 star only because I really, really liked it before the ending. The author ruined a really good story, sigh.
Be aware of the blurb. It’s very misleading. It’s actually untrue.
Do you believe in synchronicity? What about Coincidences? What about coexistence or co-occurrence?
You may be wondering why I opened with those questions just keep these questions in mind when reading this unbelievable tale of two young people who met under horrific circumstances. Every little girl dreams of a knight in shining armor who comes to their rescue. Well, Willow Banks met her knight one day in the food court at the mall. Caven Lowe saved her life that day and she fell in love with him, but that is the end of the fairytale.
Aly Martinez can spin the yarn and this by far is one of her best series to date, she has you on the seat of your pants throughout the mystery with several twists and turns that end in a cliff-hanger so I was happy that I waited until the duet was completed before reading this amazing story. Buckle up buttercup this one is a hella of a ride!
Hadley and Caven are both extremely likeable characters, both strong but have deep issues.
Rosalie is a little cutie and is in some ways the centre of this story, but the slow burn attraction between Hadley and Caven is delicious.
This was a page turner with a cliffy that has me wondering what….. So starting the finale now.
