“…just looking at her burned the connection between his brain and his tongue.” (partial quote from the book)
What absolute ‘Joy’ this novella was! Short it may be, but long on sheer fulfillment!
Completely captivating from start to finish. This is one story I will read again and again for packing a one-two punch…you knocked it out of the park Ms. Joy!
I especially enjoyed the ‘SilverFox67’ who reminded me of another Joy!

I had a hard time getting into this short, cute, clean, window of time… not for any reason other than I had been reading non-stop within the JAFF [Jane Austen Fan Fiction] Regency Era. I had to do a major mind adjustment to a modern setting and names that were not P&P [Pride and Prejudice]. After a bit, I began to get into this delightful modern story of love and the dedication and preparation necessary to the issuance of that dreaded ritual… the proposal.

Poor Mr. Darcy… oops, Will Donovan… he was so deeply in love with Elizabeth Bennet… em… Liz Benetti, that he was paralyzed trying to find the PERFECT words he felt she deserved. What made that so unusual? Will Donovan was a famous author and one of his much-acclaimed books was being made into a movie. Due to his new fame, he was paralyzed by the attention, the awards and the demise of his privacy. All he wanted was time alone with his love and that was not happening. Everything that could go wrong… did.

This touching story made me laugh and cringe as poor Will waited at the restaurant for Liz to arrive. Now, I need to warn readers… pay special attention to dialogue. I missed many clues and later, wished I had paid more attention. This will prevent you from having to go back and re-read sections. This author really laid out clues and foreshadowing that was magnificent. I was totally caught off guard. Man… I love it when an author can surprise me. Well done.
Villain… OMG! This guy was horrid and his wife was worse than any Caroline Bingley. His threats were scary as our author laid out for us just how tenuous and fragile a writing career can be. Any scandal can destroy an author. Rumors of plagiarism, whether founded or not, can in effect destroy a career. I felt for Will as he watched this low-life threaten him, for no other reason than, he hated him. Wow!
Liz was magnificent as she defended her love and her faith in Will. Watch those clues… yep, this was good. Since it was a small window of time, actions moved quickly. I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant. It seemed rather distracting, but then, that was what it was supposed to do. Poor Will, was not having a good evening. Did he ever get to propose… you will have to read it to find out? Oh, and there was a delightful epilogue regarding an awards show where the film, based on Will’s story, was up for an award. OMG!! That was so swoon worthy that it was worth the read just for that.
