“Written in the Sand is quite an emotional ride! From page one, the captivating storyline takes off and leads me on an unforgettable journey. Such an inspirational romance about moving forward from destruction and finding that special someone to share forever with.” — USA Today Bestselling Author, Harloe RaeI always believed my happily ever after came with the words “I do.”I’d been happy once. … been happy once. In love. Until one night changed everything.
Changed us. The love of my life, or so I thought, had become my own worst nightmare.
So here I am…
Back in Moonshine Springs. A place I wouldn’t return to unless absolutely necessary. But that’s not the biggest shock. Waiting for me with open arms and a safe place to stay is my high school best friend’s brother, Beau. He’s told me I’m his, but starting over isn’t as easy as creating a new happily ever after. My past isn’t done with me and soon enough, bleeds into my present.
My name is Cassidy Mae and this is my chance to begin again…
This book contains some scenes of domestic and graphic violence, sexual scenes, and mature themes. Please be aware these may cause triggers for the reader.

J Marie outdid herself with this small town, romantic suspense! The first few pages will suck you in and it won’t stop there. Suspense, heat, drama and Beau. There is a sweetness to him that will make you swoon. J Marie is a woman with many talents. This book differs greatly from her debut, Second Chance Rescue. I can’t wait to see what’s up her sleeve next. Five brilliant stars.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
J Marie’s Written in the Sand is her second published novel and she blew it out of the water. I was in love with her first book (Second Chance Rescue). And to see this one come to life, it is a thing of true beauty. Beau and Cassidy Mae are everything.
From the very beginning, you are wrapped up and hooked in by this story. The prologue cuts deep, and it is not for the faint of heart. But it pulls you in, piece by piece, refusing to let you go. You are part of the story. You feel every single bit of emotion that is poured onto the pages. You are living and breathing everything you read.
J Marie has a beautiful way with her words, how she molds a story together. The way she brings Cassidy Mae and Beau to life is a piece of work that you don’t want to miss. Beau will become everything you never knew you needed from a cowboy. He is patient, strong and capable… and the dirty talk. Instant #beaucrush. Cassidy Mae will touch your heart. You will be right there with her as she picks up the pieces of herself and transform into someone of true strength, right before your eyes.
Since this is a new release, you won’t get anything else from me. But if you’re looking for a small town romance that has a nice good slow burn that will light your kindle on fire, some suspense, steam, and a dirty talking cowboy… then this is the one you don’t want to miss.
Five stars for this gorgeously written small town romance that will have you in your feels until the very end.
I received an ARC copy of Written In The Sand by J. Marie. This was a sweet and powerful read. Has some suspense in it with a a nice slow burn romance between Cassidy Mae and Beau! Beau Montgomery is from a small town who owns a ranch. Cassidy Mae has been his crush ever since high school. Beau is a patient man who didn’t rush anything, he was always real, loving, and protective! Cassidy Mae is a strong, fierce woman who has been through a lot. These two were meant for each other. I laughed and cried at some parts. It was a well written book with some triggers for some people! If you love a small town, slow burn romance with a little suspense in it then this is the book for you! Enjoy!!
I have a new book boyfriend, his name is Beau. Swoon!!
Wow! J Marie what a wonderful tale you weave. I absolutely adored this book. You had me hooked from the start and I just couldn’t put this book down. I cried I laughed I loved loved this book. Hold your head up high you should be very proud. You have created something special and I shall shout it from the rooftops.
A sweet book about second chances. Just loved this sweet, inspiring book about a girl who comes home and falls in love with her childhood crush. Perfect romance and the best hea!
This was my first book by this author, but I’m pretty positive I’ll read more from her! This is only her second book out in the world, and it’s a great read!
Cassidy Mae leaves her home and husband after a horrible incident and went back into the small town, where she grew up. She reconnected with her high school best friend Reagan, and starts working at their horse farm. Also working and owning said horse farm is Beau, Reagan’s older brother and Cassidy Mae’s old crush. Do they get a second chance now?
This book describes a beautiful and also sad story, but beautiful as it shows you there’s always hope and help somewhere. You can heal. It might be slowly, but take one step after the other!
Other than that, this story is great in details. As I talked to the author about, I’m an equestrian, and I love all about these scenes with the horses. Absolutely fantastic.
I really really liked the book and I can absolutely recommend this to you. Please be aware of the trigger warning in the front of the book!
This was my first book by the author and I’m glad that I took a chance on her because I’ve found a new favourite author that I’m looking forward to reading more from her.
A second chance at love and life I would call this story of two different characters that fate brings together at the perfect moment especially for her.
Running away from a terrible incident, Cassidy is trying to forget all the craziness that she had witnessed and start a new life on her terms.
It’s gripping, it’s raw of emotions and a slow burn romance that you’ll want to read more and more with each page.
“… we were always meant to be written in the stars.”
The beginning of Written in the Sand … Gut wrenching!
Cassidy Maes live turnes upside down in one single moment.
So she returnes home. She’s a shell of a girl she used to be, and her parents and the town people slowly picks it up. She’s lost, but luckily her once best friend enters her life again. And she has a brother.
A brother who cares for Cassidy, more and more so every day.
Could she let her guards down and let Beau be a part of her life? Could she trust again when her past is still very much present?
Written in the Sand is a wonderfuly writen small town, slow-burn, romantic suspense!
This was absolutely one of my favorite books to beta read!
Ms. J Marie has delivered yet another beautiful story! As a reader you can feel the love and memories J has experienced in her life to write such an amazing book.
The storyline flows so well with the addictive Beau, and the beautiful Cassidy Mae. There are some darker moments, but please do not let this detour you! This slow burn small town romance is truly sexy as hell, and you won’t want stop reading until the very last delicious page!
These two embark on a second chance at love, through an amazing journey. There are ups and downs as Cass deals with her past, and learns to love again. Beau is all alpha man, but has to learn patience as he helps Cassidy Mae learn to deal with her emotions.
When the past becomes the present can Beau truly save the one person who means the most in his life?
Now y’all know me, I like the fast burn, sending my kindle up in flame type stuff. But every now and again, we need to slow things down.
This is my first time reading Zoey Drake and the way the story began immediately had piqued my interest. What a way to get the plot started!!
Cassidy Mae is back in town after wanting to leave her old life behind. Not wanting to be a burden to her parents, she seeks other living arrangements and a job.
Beau, not only Cassidy’s BFFs brother, but her high school crush, still lives in the town. Wants to show Cassidy she isn’t alone and he will help support her in any way she needs.
The way the book is written you would think you were watching a hallmark movie, a headstrong female starting over with a second chance at love. You will genuinely be cheering the couple on their journey to their HEA.
Written in the Sand is a sweet, best friend’s brother, romance. Cassidy is escaping her overbearing and sometimes brutal husband. In order to start over she goes back to the beginning, the small hometown that she grew up in. She quickly picks up where she left off, back with her family and the best friend she had in high school. That is the true appeal of small town life though, they are the epitome of “the more things change the more they stay the same”. The romance level on this book was set at a slow burn pace. I liked the starting over aspect of this book mixed with learning to heal internal wounds and small town nostalgia.
I adore this book!
I was honored to Beta for J. Marie. I had a blast with the story and with interacting with J.Marie!
The hubs asked me to read to him while doing various home projects, so I followed him around the house while reading aloud the story of Beau and Cassidy Mae. We both became very invested in their story. Now when he sees any promo with it, we discuss the book.
Once the Beta process was over, I also read the book again as an ARC. I fell in love with the story even more. The growth of the book was amazing to see and to feel.
If you enjoy reading about renewal, about patient love, and about finding yourself again then read this story.
Cassidy Mae’s journey while hard and painful was beautiful. Beau tender love and patience impacted her life. His care made her stronger, and made her realize love was worth the jump.
Beau is just a dream worthy southern gentleman. Brawn, brains, and manners. He doesn’t see broken. He doesn’t see worthless. He sees the potential in all, including animals. See, dream worthy.
This is a story that will stick with me for a long time.
Wow!!
This story had me on edge from the very beginning.
What a fantastic job J Marie did with this intense, emotional, angsty and sweet story.
I definitely loved the main characters with all my heart. Beau and Cassidy Mae are beautiful characters that were meant to have a chance in life.
There are topics in the story that are too deep and powerful but you can’t seem to stop reading because you know there is more to discover.
Cassidy was a strong woman that grew little by little after the bad experience she had to face in the hands of the person she thought was her everything. Going back to the place she felt safe, was the beginning she desperately was searching for but she didn’t expect to find Beau with his kind smile and the patient soul, at the end of the road.
I really think J Marie did an amazing job with their personalities. Both capable of being perfectly imperfect but with a heart bigger than anything. But this is a story of becoming a better version of yourself. To remember that no matter what can happen in your life, YOU are strong enough to start over and find happiness. Because YOU deserve it.
I think that’s one of the best messages I’ve learned from this amazing story.
First book I read by this author and I’m excited to see more of her future projects.
Beau and Cassidy Mae’s is sweet with just a bit of rockiness. This best friend’s brother romance, second chance romance will pull at your heartstrings and make you swoon. It has everything you’d want in a great romance read and so much more. I was not disappointed and so glad I have this lovely book a chance.
This was a book about patiences and perseverance. After a horrible year and a very bad incident Cassidy Mae left her husband and went back to her small town. There she had her parents, best friend and high school crush, who also happened to be her best friends brother, the farm and horses to help rebuild her self esteem and claim her life again. Freedom to choose what to do or not do.
This was an emotional book but also shows that even when you think your are weak and broken you are actually stronger than you thought. You can persevere!!
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Oh my goodness! My heart ! This is a must read about second chances and how fate brings back love that is meant to be. From the first paragraph J Marie captures your emotions and does not let go. I didn’t want to finish this story because it was so beautiful!
