1778: France declares war on Great Britain, the British army leaves Philadelphia, and George Washington’s troops leave Valley Forge in pursuit. At this moment, Jamie Fraser returns from a presumed watery grave to discover that his best friend has married his wife, his illegitimate son has discovered (to his horror) who his father really is, and his beloved nephew, Ian, wants to marry a Quaker. Meanwhile, Jamie’s wife, Claire Randall, and his sister, Jenny, are busy picking up the pieces.
The Frasers can only be thankful that their daughter Brianna and her family are safe in twentieth-century Scotland. Or not. In fact, Brianna is searching for her own son, who was kidnapped by a man determined to learn her family’s secrets. Her husband, Roger, has ventured into the past in search of the missing boy . . . never suspecting that the object of his quest has not left the present. Now, with Roger out of the way, the kidnapper can focus on his true target: Brianna herself.

Waiting for the next book!
Love this book, cannot wait for # nine!
Great book but too graphic,
If you haven’t read the Outlander Series, you have NO idea what you are missing! The first book, OUTLANDER, is the very best! But the entire series is the kind of thing that you can not put down and you MUST READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN! The tv STARZ shows are really good-the first two series! But they writers rewrote the third and fourth books and they did a hack job! READ THE BOOKS!
yes
Please read the Outlander series if you haven’t already. If you are a fan of the show, the books are so much more detailed and riveting.
Love the entire series!! So looking forward to books 9 and 10!
Page turner. Kept me entertained and kept my work undone.
Diana Gabaldon has produced excellent work as always.
If you can suspend disbelief, you will greatly enjoy this entire series by Diana Gabaldon. I’ve read through it twice and likely will again!
Loved this book & love This series!
Have read everyone and they never lose their appeal
The entire Outlander series of which this book is a part of is my favorite series. A must read. The way the author writes these characters makes you feel they are real & you get to know each one. The amount of research Diana Gabaldon does for each book contributes to the realism of her books also. It is best to read them in order as they span the course of 50 years. I have retread this series a few times as there is so much in them. Be prepared to be to be steeped in history, Scottish history, romance with a little time travel thrown in. Get some rest now because once you start at the beginning of this series you will be engrossed in all things Outlander.
Start with the first in the Outlander series and end with this novel… you will be drawn into Diana Gabaldon’s well-written characters, historical references and her unforgettable love story. I savored every word!
Again another great masterpiece from a wonderful author. Very emotional read at times. I am waiting very patiently for the next installment… (looks around drumming my fingers). No really I can be patient for the next masterpiece for great works take time.
I confess that I’m adicted to the outlander series.
