One night was all it took for everything to change. From college student to guardian in a single breath. My siblings became my world. No time for date nights or romantic dreams.I traded quiet weekends for sleepless nights.Giving my all to make sure they were cared for. But Griffin had a brokenness that called to me—one that mirrored my own.Gruff and just a little bit reckless. He was the last thing … a little bit reckless.
He was the last thing I needed. But everything I wanted.
Only someone isn’t happy about this new life I’m building.
Deciding to set fire to everything I hold close.
And when the smoke clears, there might be only ashes left behind…

Caelyn was only 21 years old when she did everything in her power to become the legal guardian of her younger siblings when their parents are charged and arrested. She spends the next six years working multiple jobs and giving the kids a stable environment to grow up in. Griffin has lost his entire family years before and has been betrayed by almost everyone he knows, using his family’s death for tabloid stories and payouts. He moves back to town to renovate their summer home. Slowly the two become friends and while Griffin helps Caelyn with work to supplement income, Caelyn shows Griffin how to trust again. This was a great book from start to finish. I loved the way all of the relationships in this book transformed and shaped the characters’ lives. It’s a slow burn that keeps you turning the page.
Wrecked Palace is the third installment of the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles. It is a truly touching story of two people who have to learn to take a chance and trust that not everyone is going to leave them.
Caelyn is the guardian of her three younger siblings. She works so hard, but enjoys everything that is taking care of and providing her siblings with a safe place to grow up. When the mysterious town loaner starts coming into the grocery store that she works at, she makes a game of trying to make him grin.
Griffin lost everything he knew at age 16. Left alone in the world, trusting others never comes easy. But he is drawn to the burnette that makes him mystery sandwiches at the grocery store on the island.
Can Griffin and Caelyn find some common ground where they can get to know each other? Will Caelyn’s outstanding troubles be too much?
I absolutely loved this story. It really hit you in the feels and I didn’t want to out it down. I loved Caelyn, Griffin, and the kids. Their dynamic and chemistry was so much fun!
“…you make this house feel like a home.”
Wrecked is exactly how I felt after reading the third installment in the Wrecked series – completely spent, in literal tears. So beautifully written.
After tragic events leave Caelyn and her tiny terrors struggling, life on Anchor becomes anything but peaceful. Even Caelyn’s sunny disposition is no match for a tormentor from her past. Enter Griffin, our heart throb of an alpha with past demons of his own. But underneath that grumpy, standoffish demeanor is a heart open and willing to take in Ms. Sunshine and her tiny terrors.
Caelyn and her Tiny Terrors will absolutely steal your heart. While Caelyn and Griffin will make you swoon!
Do not miss out!
Blow away is what I am!!! I’ve been looking forward to getting to know the infamous Griffin since we first came across his gruffness, and let me just tell you he did not disappoint in the alpha department!
I’ve really wanted to know more about Caelyn and her back story, how she ended up with her siblings and why she got custody of them in the first place. Everything about her back story was extremely sad and heart breaking but I can say the way Caelyn took care of the kids and how far they all had grown from the first chapter on was something beautiful and really amazing to read. Something about the way Caelyn went about raising them was just something truly incredible. We also can’t forget about the amazing support system in her friend. It was so much fun to be able to see all the girls together again and also the men cause we can never forget about them.
If Caelyn story was heart breaking then everything about Griffins back story was just soul crushing. That man…wow I don’t even have all the words to express how much I love Griffin. This man has been through the ringer and doesn’t want to let anyone in and he has every right now too but the beautiful soul that is Caelyn is very hard to resist and start chipping away at the walls around Griffin.
Their story was so beautiful to read and I just couldn’t put it down. There was twists and turn, times I was gasping in shock and times I was crying happy and sad tears. Catherine Cowles is truly a gifted writer. Everything she puts into these characters and story really bring these characters to life and has you rooting for them. She is one of those authors who is an immediate one click and if you like the other two books in the series then you will love this one!
Caelyn has been her three younger siblings’ guardian for 6 years, since their parents disappeared. She’s working multiple jobs, to make ends meet, to give her siblings the extras they deserve. There’s a quiet, stoic man, Griffin, who comes into her lunch counter, she’s determined to make him smile, a rare sight. She can sense the same pain in him that she holds – the two of them are a matched pair, and will soon become everything to each other, if outside forces don’t have their way.
Each story in this series is so heartfelt and poignant, bringing tears for the tragedies each couple has experienced, and Caelyn and Griffin and her adorable siblings, have brought the bar way up, because they are just so heartbreakingly beautiful together. I felt for all their loss, all the heartbreak they each went through, and I was rooting them on as they all found the happiness they deserved with each other.
Griffin and Caelyn’s story!
Catherine Cowles damn sure knows how to pull readers heartstrings.
Caelyn hasn’t exactly had the easiest life but she has made her life the best that she could. She has sacrificed everything to raise her siblings on her own. At age 21, she got full custody of her younger brother and two younger sisters.
With juggling two jobs, and taking care of her siblings full-time, she struggles to take a breather for herself because she is completely invested on making sure that her siblings have the best life that they can with paying for their schooling and extracurricular activities. She wants to give these kids the life that they didn’t have with their parents.
Caelyn sees her friends in beautiful loving relationships and having babies and she so desperately wants this for herself, but her plate is just so full with her own little family. Not regretting a single thing, she has pride in everything that she’s done for her siblings so far not wanting to take handouts.
Griffin. Oh this man. After a horrible and tragic event taking place in his earlier life, it has made him isolate himself completely on this island. But because of this, locals are not exactly a big fan of this quiet and gruff man.
This is the story of Griffin and Caelyn, two lonely individuals becoming friends and slowly falling in love with each other overtime
But of course this is a Catherine Cowles novel, so you know that there is going to be suspense and mystery as part of the story. And that’s what I cannot tell you in my review but this story has it all!
“You showed me how much I was missing by locking myself away from the world. You showed me that I could trust you with anything. But you’ve been showing me that from the first day I met you. In your kindness. Your care. How damn selfless you are. Everything I see in you challenges me to do better. Be better. To not run away from life because I was hurt in the past. I want this with you. I don’t know for sure where it will lead. But I want to find out.”
Suffering and pain are complex emotions, and each person has to find their way to deal with it. This story shows how 2 people do.
This book is fantastic, two amazing characters but struggling with their own demons. They are compelling characters that make you want to know more. The pacing is a little off it hits one of its peaks then slows, but other wise its amazing. The other amazing part of this story is her siblings have an active part in the pain of their past. Where most authors would gloss over, catherine gives us an in depth look into their stories. I honestly feel Ava has a story all on her own.
To conclude amazing story and I highly recommend
This is the 3rd book in the wrecked series. Every time I get to read a new books of hers I just know it’s gonna one up the one before. This one did now fail it wrecked me in the most beautiful way.
If you love a grumpy, broody hero and a heroine with a heart of gold then you will love this one.
Caelyn is raising her 3 siblings and just trying to get by. Griffen has had an emotionally hard past and is having a hard time letting it go. But when Caelyn and Griffen start a friendship things just start to help them both move forward. It’s a slow burn in the best of way.
Wrecked Palace is the first of the Wrecked series and from this author that I have had the pleasure of reading. I found Caelyn and Griffin’s story to be a heartbreaking beautiful romance. I look forward to reading more books from this author and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves a beautiful story.
Third book in the Wrecked series and yet another amazing story
I loved Caelyn’s relationship with her siblings and how selfless she is when it comes to them
I have been dying for Griffin’s book since getting a glimpse in book one and it did not disappoint. I loved seeing how Caelyn and her siblings gradually broke through how closed off his heart was.
Catherine’s books always have just the right amount of romance mixed with suspense and all her hero’s are perfectly swoon-worthy.
Another five star book from Catherine and I cannot wait for the next book in the series
Wrecked Palace has completely wrecked me. I have shed a thousand tears. Catherine I picked this up knowing how special this was going to be. I certainly wasn’t expecting that – it was a sucker punch. So beautifully written, you have weaved a wonderful, heartwarming, pull your heart strings, highly emotional sobfest.
This family, I just wanted to heal them after all they went through. Caelyn was a beautiful strong independent women who would go to the ends of the earth for her siblings. Will the protective younger brother will steal your heart, Ava such a sweet soul and the adorably cute Mia will capture your heart. Her gentle giant Griffin the gorgeous, gruff loner is the perfect swoonworthy hero, who suffered a tragic past – Caelyn and her siblings are his breath of fresh air, his reason for living. You will feel all the feels and fall in love with this wonderful family and the sexy broody Griffin. The perfect slow burn romance that holds a special place in my heart.
Emotional masterpiece!!! Omg. I just don’t have all the words to process this book. It’s about love. It’s about loss. It’s about family. It’s about finding the utmost courage a person can ever muster to just move on each and every day. Not enough words to read through the love and tears that this family feels for this story. I’m not who’s the heroine or hero in this book oh I know. It’s Luci and the tiny terrors.
Wrecked Palace. What can I say about this book that will do it justice?
The build up to caelyns story has been one of my most anticipated from this author. The little snippets of this young woman’s hardships have not been anywhere near enough!
Then we finally find out what really happened. In a book absolutely jam packed with action and events. I think this is probably the best that Cowles has ever written.
Taking her style in a new direction, she has created this slow-burn, emotional journey where two broken souls try to bring each other to life.
Both Griffin and Caelyns pasts are so tragic, I have cried so much reading it all. Yes that’s right, it’s that emotional!
This story is brought to perfection by the three ‘tiny terrors’ in caelyns life. They truly make the book come alive. From the rainbows and unicorns, to the sorrow and loss, this little family are just magnificent warriors. 100% this is Cowles best work to date. I think it will take me a while to recover from this book hangover!
The Wrecked Series by Catherine Cowles is a five-book series revolving around a group of friends living on a small island off the coast of Washington state. The four books are Reckless Memories, Perfect Wreckage, Wrecked Palace with Reckless, Refuge, and Beneath the Wreckage still to come. I joined the series with Perfect Wreckage but plan to go back and read the first book before the next two are released. Grab your afternoon coffee and let’s chat about Catherine Cowles’ Wrecked Palace.
After being the lone survivor of a sailing accident and realizing that most people just want access to him for a story or money, Griffin has become a recluse. He is single-handedly restoring his family’s farmhouse on Anchor Island while escaping his demons and shutting himself off to the world. What he had once seen as a palace had been reduced to 10 acres of vandalized mess that Griffin was going to restore while working through the ghosts that haunted him. Griffin typically stayed away from people, Caelyn’s life-is-beautiful positivity fascinated him drew him into the General Store on an almost daily basis.
Most people on the island knew Caelyn’s story and they either looked down on her or loved her for the amazing woman that she was. After dropping out of college and giving up on her dreams to step up and raise her three younger siblings, Caelyn was a force to be reckoned with. She worked two jobs to make sure that her brother and two sisters had everything that their parents were not able to provide – a stable and normal childhood. There were always things to worry about…an increase in rent, paying for Mia’s gymnastics, taking Ava to therapy, how to cover Will’s upcoming college, their mother getting out of jail, the location of their missing father, and so many more things.
Don’t be fooled by my summary of Wrecked Palace, this is no simple contemporary romance. Catherine’s books always involve a little mystery and a lot of suspense. When the past comes back to haunt Caelyn, Griffin’s protective nature kicks in but that’s all that you will get from me because I will not ruin the story for you. I fell in love with Griffin, the gentle giant, when I met him in Perfect Wreckage and think that you will enjoy watching Caelyn and her siblings pull him out of his protective shell.
My rating of Wrecked Palace by Catherine Cowles, 5 out of 5 stars.
What did I just read?
This is hands down my favorite book of Catherine’s to date!!! This book had ALL THE FEELS!!!!! I seriously couldn’t put it down for even a second, I loved every single thing about it, It’s not every day you find a book where even the side characters steal your heart, when I said I loved everything about this book, I mean EVERYTHING!!!
This book was about family, sacrifice, life, friends, taking chances, forgiveness, and love.
Caelyn is one of the best characters ever, her strength left me speechless. All she wanted was to be there for her sisters and brother, she wanted the best for them and wouldn’t stop until they did. She never thought that Griffin would come in into her life and her siblings and change everything.
Griffin is hiding a pain that won’t let him find happiness or love, after loosing everything the last thing he expects is to find a family where they brighten up his day. Griffin and Caelyn needed each other, these two had so much going on, they needed someone to lift them up and be there for each other. The chemistry was FIRE!!!! I was swooning so hard.
I want to talk about a side character for a bit, Catherine just wrote my all time favorite side characters. I messaged her so fast and said “they need their own book!!!” Little miss Mia….. I cannot explain how much I love her!!!!!! She is the reason I have read this book 3 times already. Mia has the biggest heart ever, she is so smart, strong, and amazing. I truly hope Catherine gives is her book.
This book truly without a doubt deserves more than 5 starts, It was PHENOMENAL!!!
Every time I read a Catherine book I say it’s my favorite. And every time the new book comes out that’s my new favorite! But seriously y’all, Griffin?! *swoon* oh I need a Griffin in my life!!
I just love how we get to revisit all of our favorite characters and see what everyone is up too. I’m sure I say this all the time, but my heart loves it. Thank you Catherine for your beautiful stories and creating a place where we can get lost in a wonderful world of love and friendship.
Can’t wait to read my next favorite book!!
Catherine hits it out of the park yet again! I didn’t think I could keeping loving the next book more than others but she keeps it coming. Caelyn and Griffin’s story is so heartfelt in the way Griffin is alpha male to the highest point and his need to protect Caelyn and her family after he suffered such a tragic lose of his family many years ago. It’s suspenseful that you don’t want to put the book down so it made for a quick read. I love all of Catherine’s books and can’t wait for more.
Each time Catherine Cowles release a book in this series she seems to one up herself. This is hands down my favorite in the series and I couldn’t put it down. Caelyn and Griffin gave me the warm fuzzies. They were each others rock. I adored the chemistry between them and loved how he was with the kids. This is a must read and the author did not disappoint. A five plus star small romance that I devoured.
Welcome (back) to Anchor! This story goes back to the very beginning of three friends with an unbreakable bond… you know, the kind we all yearn for! It was painfully beautiful to see the beginning of Caelyn’s life with her siblings. She shows her strength and selflessness in everything she does, and those kids will just melt your heart!! (But Will, though… GAH that boy will grasp your soul).
Griffin is the surly, quiet, giant of a man who goes through the motions of life by himself. His heart is bigger than he is, but his loss leaves him with no one to share it with. It only makes sense that these two soft-spoken, caring souls found each other… and they are most definitely the duo to beat!!! The love they have for each other and their self-made family on Anchor is heart-warming and inspiring, to say the least.
I have to say, I think Caelyn and Griffin (and the tiny terrors) are my favorite to date. There is just this calming effect that they have on you throughout their journey, and when their story is complete, you will feel at peace. Jump in, start reading, and enjoy the true beauty that is Wrecked Palace!! Catherine, you have a talent to be reckoned with, and I hope you never stop writing the words!!
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
In Wrecked Palace we learn and watch the love story of Griffin and Caelyn come together. These two have been dancing around each other. It’s great to finally get their story.
Caelyn became a parent to her three siblings, and gave up her life dreams so she could keep them safe. She give them the upbringing they should have had that their parents refused to give. Romance wasn’t high on her priority list because her siblings needed her.
Griffin always seemed to be around the corner when she least expected it but needed him. He made her tongue tied and wanting.
It was great reading and getting to know these characters better. Griffin and Caelyn both deserved a break in life and it seems like everything was out to get them. Together, however, they could conquer all.
