Loving Jules in high school was easy—gentle and natural. But that was eight years ago, before she left town. Before she took off and left my heart shattered. Now she’s back…with a kid I’ve never met.A hurricane, that’s what she is—powerful and potentially destructive, yet so thrilling and intense. If she leaves me wrecked again…I won’t survive.
Love story that kept you reading. Fell in love with the Male lead. Grew frustrated with the female….was hoping she would see what was right in front of her. Would definitely recommend!

I found this to be a good debut story about child hood sweethearts who get their second chance. Jules is back home to help her mom out with her young son and is thrown back into the path of her childhood dreams. I found the story had an easy flow although there were times I was ready to shake some sense into her. I am curious to see how book two plays out.
Wrecked by Her is the first book in the Like a Hurricane duet. I was engrossed from the beginning and didn’t want it to end. Hunter is swoon worthy and I loved him. This book has so many feels and I loved every single page of it. I’m so excited to read the second book.
I was totally engaged from the very beginning with this beautifully written story with characters that were so well detailed that I ended up reading this book in one sitting!
If you like real-life romance, you won’t want to miss out on this duet. Kristie Leigh weaves a tale of reality through a second-chance romance that will have you in ready to pull your hair out right before she soothes your heart…but you’ll have to read book books in the duet to get the satisfaction of their HEA.
This cover is stunning..
…and the blurb, drawn me in, I had to read this!!!
Hunter is amazing, he is a swoonworthy hero..
…Not sure if I like Jules, a tad selfish, but worth figuring out.
This book is first in this duet, anxious to see how the conclusion will be.
This freaking book!
Oh I loved it so much, I love a book that can make me cry and boy did I cry. Kristie wrote a book with so many feels and emotions. I literally couldn’t put this book down. Hunter is so swoon worthy and does every possible for Jules I mean this guy would move the moon for her if he could.
I highly recommend this book I loved it so much.

Kristie Leigh is a new author to me, so being offered the chance to review one of her books was a pleasure.
Wrecked By Her is Kristie’s debut book, and book one in the Hurricane duet series. I am amazed at how beautifully written this book is. It is the perfect debut book from a new author.
The book is an emotional and beautiful read, however at the same time is a quick read.
It pulls at your heartstrings and Hunter and Jules are the perfect addition to the book world.
10/10 would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to try new authors and books.

Holy Moly!!! I am impressed. And this is the debut book.. What an amazing start.
When i read the blurb for this book I didn’t really know what to expect. But what an emotional rollercoaster it was..
Jules and Hunter are childhood best friends. Their love for each other and Jules’s mother is fierce. Each and every character in this story add an extra layer to the story.
I loved it..
My heart was ripped out and is waiting to be put back together (hopefully) when i read the second one where their story continues.
This book had that southern charm feel to it. It was fairly light hearted but had angst to it that broke my heart for Jules and why she has and is going through. I’m not going to say I really understand her as a character but I sympathized with her.
My heart broke the most for Hunter. He is an amazing lead hero. Most of the time I like the super alpha hero’s, mainly because I can feel how they feel for the heroine but hunter was very sweet. I wanted him to alpha up some and while he didn’t, he was a great lead.
The overall story was a very slow burn. Not even a kiss between out leads. Being the first in a duet, it focuses more on their friendship instead of the romance of it. I totally respect the author for how it worked out. It was an overall beautiful story.
I’m going to say that the blurb of the book was slightly misleading. It made me think the heroine kept their child away from the hero and it was a big surprise, but really, the hero knew about the kid and the child wasn’t his. It wasn’t really some big shocking scene that for my heart pumping. It slightly disappointed me. Not saying that made it a bad book, just mislead me slightly and had me expecting something different.
Even with the few issues I had with the story, I look forward to seeing where the story goes for Jules and Hunter. Even the secondary characters which were pretty obvious. With great banter, that small time charm, a beautiful friendship, this book will be good for readers wanting a good beach weekend read. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Wrecked By Her is definitely a great weekend read. It’s a small town romance about high school sweethearts who inevitably separate. Fast track 8 years later and they two meet up again due to Jules’ ailing mother’s hospitalization. I absolutely adored Hunter but wasn’t as fond of Jules. I’m hoping that in book 2 I can relate to Jules a little more. This is a cliffhanger book so I would wait for both books if you’re not a fan of waiting for the ending.
Wrecked By Her by Kristie Leigh is book one in the Like A Hurricane Duet series. First, the cover of this book is gorgeous. Leigh couldn’t have picked a better picture to represent her hero and heroine. There are parts of this book that are very soul stirring. Hunter’s heart – “No matter how hard I tried, being around her but not with her shredded me. I couldn’t be normal when everything about me was broken.” Hunter Rivers has been in love with Julianne Davis since 5th grade. Hunter’s character is one of those dreamy book boyfriends that every woman would love to have. He is sensitive and kind as well as gorgeous. Julianne on the other hand, has to be the most selfish person in the story. It was hard to sympathize with her when I didn’t really like her. Her constant clueless state as to Hunter’s true feelings grated on my nerves. “I shook my head. I didn’t know why I read so much into everything. I mean, on one hand, I thought Hunter was a great guy, and he was just being nice. But then he looked at me or said some things that threw me for a loop…” Really? Everyone is telling Julianne how much Hunter loves her and she doesn’t know? There were parts of this book that just dragged. I would say that a good 1/4th should be eliminated. It took way too long for the hero and heroine to unite. And why two books? On the positive side I thoroughly enjoyed Julianne’s little boy Calum. Leigh brings the toddler to life so realistically. His chubby cheeks and misspoken words are adorable. I was gifted a copy of this book.
This book was black and white.i don’t know how to describe it differently, one character was too perfect and one was too selfish.
First things first,I love the cover. It’s amazing and gorgeous.
But the story it self is not so much good.
Hunter and Jules loved each other as teenagers, but Jules left Hunter for better education in California. They spent the next eight years apart, but neither forgot their love. Now,Jules needs to come home, for the firs time in eight years, cause her mother is ill and she needs her.Jules also has two-year old son.
The thing is,Jules is one of the most selfish heroines I have ever met and Hunter is over the top perfect, and that is the reason why I didn’t like this book very much.
In the eight years that she spent in California,Jules never visited her home town, she saw her mother only once, and she practically “avoided” Hunter, only occasionally speaking to him.The only person who she stayed in contact with is her friend Taylor.I have no idea how can someone that selfies as Jules be good mom,but she seems to navigate that role well so that is her only good characteristic.I can’t understand how she could see her mom only once in eight years, and she clearly could afford that visit, that woman give her life and endless support. It’s beyond me.As far as Hunter and Jules go,she didn’t deserve that guy and I’m not rooting for them.Everyone is telling her how much he loves her but somehow Jules doesn’t know it.Yeah, more like, she doesn’t really care.I didn’t like Jules at all.
Hunter was too good. And he spent way too much time thinking about someone who didn’t give him an opportunity to say goodbye to her.Still,he kept contact with Jules’s mother and helped her any way he could. When Jules returns he hopes to finally have a chance to her,but he is due to disappointment cause Jules will leave him again.Cause she is really selfish person.
Also,as far as the writing goes, this book is full of crude words that were completely unnecessary. Every time Jules is texting with her friend a word “bitch” or “whore” is throw around. In the great scheme of things this is probably stupid and not important but when it’s used one too many times it’s just distracting and very distasteful. I don’t think best friends use that manner of speech on each other at the daily basis(at least in my case is like that).
Overall, too selfish heroine and too perfect hero, there was no middle ground.
This book had me with so many feels and brought me so many tears. The twists that happen in this book you don’t see coming. Everyone needs a man like Hunter in their life because he is just so truly devoted to her and literally held onto hope for YEARS! He’s the type of man that all woman need in their life! The way this book ends it leaves you dying for the next book to find out what happens next!
Exceptional Debut Novel
I was pleasantly surprised at this debut novel by Kristie Leigh. Hunter and Jules will put you through the wringer. I can’t wait for Saved by Him. Read this book – you will not be disappointed!
I can’t believe that this book is this author’s debut novel! Because it certainly doesn’t read like one! I was sucked in from the beginning till the end, then disappointed that I was at the end. It broke my heart in places and also had me thinking what the hell just happened..
The characters in this story are amazing, their chemistry is fantastic! I enjoyed every minute of this story. This is definitely going to be part of a fantastic duet that everyone needs to read. Especially if you love emotional, second chance romances and wondering will they or won’t they.
I can’t say much without spoiling the second book in the duet, and yes I’ve read it! And what I can tell you, the second book is even better and you’re going to love how their story unfolds! You’ll be swooning real hard!
This is the first book in the Like a Hurricane Duet, and a debut novel for this new talented author, Kristie Leigh. This is a second chance to love and a single mom story. Jules and Hunter’s story is beautifully written and their story is heartbreaking. Calum, Jules’s son, is so cute! Taylor, Jules’s best friend, is such a great character. In fact, all the secondary characters are great. The storyline is captivating, and ends with a cliffhanger. Now, I can’t wait to read the next book in this duet.
Man the author did a perfect job of picking out the title and the naming the series. This book will definitely wreck you and make you feel like you’ve been thru a hurricane. My heart went out to Jules but she is so wishy washy.. She has this amazing guy who’s willing to be by her side, hang with her kid and spend all the time in the world with her mother but we can’t say what we feel to him. She just strung him along and then destroyed his heart. My heart really went out to Hunter. His heart has always belonged to Jules but she steps on it by leaving. Her bestie Taylor and the neighbor Margaret make this book more heartfelt and real. They have love and want the best for Jules and Hunter but they tell the honest truth to her. They let her grieve and pulls her out of it when needed as well. I experienced so many emotions while reading this. I mean, I had ugly tears rolling down my face with the description of everything that happened during the funeral. This book will rip your heart out but at the same time, you will absoultely love Hunter! He’s amazing, caring and a truly a man who cares about people. He has a heart of gold. I just loved him!
Wrecked by Her is part one of the Like a Hurricane duet and is also Kristie Leigh’s debut novel.
This book went slow for me. Sure the heroes met when they were teenagers and what not but it wasn’t until halfway through the book that they reunite face to face again.
This read is full of emotion and wit along with some banter to make it a well-rounded read.
Honestly, I felt that a big chunk of it could have been removed, rewritten to advance the plot and instead of making it a duet, it could easily be one amazing book. That cliffhanger left me dying. Review for part 2 coming soon.
I really enjoyed the first book in this duet! While it took me awhile to warm up to Jules, I loved Hunter from the start!! Callum was adorable too! I devoured the book & I can’t wait to read the next book! Kristie has definitely made her way to my go to author list!
