This is a wild and completely unexpected story. It is almost a horror sci-fi. The thought of farming humans was difficult for me to read. Having said that, it is an extremely well-written story, that will suck you in. Even if you are not sure you want to be ensnared in the tale.
An interesting story that I give 3.5 stars to. The characters are unique but even though the human at times is strong she is also weak and gives in to easily. The alien male is very dominant and shows his love by claiming her and punishing her. Their relationship is filled with a love/hate vibe throughout the story.
Captivity vs. freedom is the main topic of this book, and it contains dark elements as all books by Renard. The plot is interesting, there is some action and hot scenes, but I think there are many depressing elements as well that are not present in other books.

Wrecked by Loki Renard is a dark sci-fi romance between Aspel and Isu which becomes a struggle between captivity versus freedom. I recommend this enjoyable book with its unique characters and a suspenseful and intriguing plot.

Skipped to ending – Did not work for me
I have read and liked a number of Loki Renard’s books but Wrecked did not work for me. It was a hard read with a lot of dark and twisted Sci-Fi type story with a captive/saved story-line that turns into more Stockholm Syndrome and a lot of very aggressive domination and abusive treatment. I did not feel that the H cared for the h at all as there was no tenderness, caring, understanding or wanting to connect on any level other than for pure carnal pleasure, for him.
This is only my opinion as I know that other readers may love it. For me this book is outside of my comfort zone.
A human girl with no name
—>>> Farmed by Vargons as one of the humans to serve one of three purposes: breeders, slaves, or parts, Aspel was saved, named and thoroughly claimed by the alien warrior who rescued her when the shuttle carrying her to an auction crashed on his planet Fendinn. Luckily for her, their kind does not farm her species nor consume them. Instead, Isu wants to own her. Unluckily for her, now that she has had a taste of freedom, she only wishes for more.
“Fate and destiny can have all the plans they want to have. I have plans for her too.”
Symbiotic Fendinn/wyrm relationship, complex society, worlds to conquer and populate are some of great aspects of this story, along with the slow-building chemistry between Isu and Aspel.
4.5
After crashing into a strange planet, Aspel wakes to find a large red male alien taking her. Isu instantly claims this little human he finds after shooting down the ship. He needs to train her, make her submit not only for his pleasure but for their safety. Unfortunately Aspel has a bit of a rebellious side. And after causing the end of their planet, or just happening to coincidentally being there at that exact time, Isu must make his dominance stand above all for the survival of his race. Aspel will have to accept loving him as much as she hates him because Isu will never let Aspel go again.
Conditioned to believe she was nothing but meat and spare parts.

I usually enjoy this author’s books but, I must admit I was disappointed in this book. The behavior of the two main characters, Isu and Aspel were difficult to accept within the story. The descriptions of the setting were vivid and easy to imagine but there did not seem to be any real chemistry between Aspel and Isu. This made it hard for me to accept their behavior in certain scenes in the book. Aspel had been condition to believe she was born to provide meat and spare parts. Resistance was met with pain, and life was about acceptance of her position in the scheme of all things. Isu and his people lived below the earth in caves tunneled out by a deadly creature, he spoke to Aspels in her language and traveled through space in ships built from scavenged wrecks. To me, there seemed to be many inconsistencies for me to accept and enjoy the story.

Talk about a dom holy Isu was strict and a very different type of alien that will have you hating and loving him at the same time as he rescues Aspel who is super determined she is not living in the ground I loved her ahe was her own kind of danger as she figures what to do.
There are so many feelings and harsh scenes that you really don’t know who to cheer for it was so different and I truly love this Authors words she goes beyond the normal and keeps you addicted.
Despite the hot sex scenes, this story didn’t appeal to me as much as other books I have read by this author. Nothing about this world, these aliens, or this way of life was the least bit attractive. This story was like one semi-depressing scene after another. Aspel and Isu may have genuinely cared for each other but their existence seemed kind of bleak to me (at least for Aspel) and the ending although not bad, was not what I would call upbeat either. I was a little bit disappointed in this story.

This is a dark romance, as it says in the title, but there are some satirical humor that made me giggle. The story is one of ownership and freedom, and how to find some middle ground. The love isn’t your typical ‘I’d die for you’ thing, it’s more of not knowing what you want until it’s gone and the lengths one would go to get it back. I found the concept very enjoyable. Aspel doesn’t even have a name and that blank slate added an interesting twist to her character. Isu is your typical brutish male who honestly doesn’t understand that love is even a thing. Both characters have come from worlds where their lives are basically written out for them, and their coming together throws things into chaos. I am probably in the minority, but I loved that the story didn’t really end in a HEA. The idea of living with the knowledge that you are going to die is honest and instead of making me feel like the story was hopeless it made me more resolute in living life to the fullest until it ends. I was left with a feeling of going after what I want because life is too short, and it doesn’t matter if anyone is happy in your choices other than yourself and those around you. Side note: I loved the humans that end up rescuing Aspel and turning her life around. They are flawed and a little crazy, and the accent was brilliant!
This book isn’t like anything else I’ve read, even other captive romances, and for that I loved it all the more.
I was surprised with this book, truthfully. Technically, everything was what it should be. Emotionally, I couldn’t connect with the characters for some reason. I know that isn’t helpful to an author but I’m not eloquent enough to put into words what was missing for me, I just couldn’t find the heart or feel the emotion. It’s a good storyline it just took me way too long to read a short book.
Aspel is a human who has been raised on a farm by aliens to either work or become body parts. During an abduction, she is saved by a dark, monstrous, fiery warrior, who claims her for his own. In his world, she then becomes his captive. But, Aspel is a strong woman. She seeks what she needs and becomes separated from Isu, her master. Will she find a way back to him? Does she want to? Does he satisfy her inner soul? Can she be free while bound and chained in captivity? Can giving up what she believes she needs be the same as fulfilling her desire? Who really rules—the strong or the weak? Is true submission the real power? How does love differ from hate?
This story is a boiling kettle of concepts and ideas that challenged my mind to think and process. I Love this author, and love this book!
Interesting 3 ½ stars – The world the author created is fascinating. The different aliens’ abilities are interesting. There are some serious thoughts on slavery and submission that will make you think. It doesn’t have much depth though in terms of Isu and Aspel’s relationship. I did not enjoy this as much as the other works from this author but still interesting. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
This was a different sci-fi romance than Im used to reading even from this author. The premise was so interesting and I loved how it all came together. The FMC started out like a blank slate because of how life had been, so she almost seemed to hide her personality at first. But when she decided to be herself she came out with a bang! The MMC is tough and pushes her to be who she is but also to be obedient to him. Its confusing at first but once you see the danger around them you get why. Im not going to give any spoilers but needless to say you need to read this book! Its so different and very hot! Loki always delivers a great book and an interesting story and this is no different.

Loki Renard never disappoints and with Wrecked, she’s done it again. On the Earth of the future, humans have 3 uses, Breeders, Slaves, or Parts/Food. When a human women is found in a crashed ship on an alien planet, Isu takes her for himself. He has no idea the human he’s named Aspel will change everything either of them knows. The story has great pace, twists, steam, and tension through out the book. It’s a shorter read than most, but a great read none the less.

Very well paced dark alien adventure. Plot was very engrossing, and characters were very engaging, Aspel, a young human female, has been bred and raised as livestock is rescued by Isu a dominating male Fendinn alien. There is action, adventure, crash landing, fear, domination/submissive, anger, distrust, romance and steamy scenes. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to Sci-Fi readers. I am a big fan of Loki Renard and throughly enjoy her books. I found that Wrecked was very different from Loki’s other books. I did enjoy reading it and completed it in one sitting, but the quick ending really surprised me. I sat there for a minute thinking what just happened! I guess I am just spoiled with the usual warm and happy endings. I would recommend this book.
Fantastic story! Characters that will steal your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love- hate deal as the characters face their demons. You will feel their emotions and struggles. A definite must read.

Far into the future humans on Earth have been completely overcome & controlled by Aliens that use them for only three things that ensure they mke money off the defeated Earthers:
1) Breeding stock
2) Slaves
3) Body Parts
It is to this third tier our nameless heroine belongs. Bred to be nameless complacent animals, despite knowing their ultimate fate they neither fight it, avoid it or even seemed concerned about it. And finally our heroine’s ‘time’ for harvest comes & she is placed on a ship traveling to another world to be sold & parted out.
But then the ship crashes on a seemingly barren desert world & only our heroine survives & is found & carried away by a huge red alien warrior, Isu, to be ‘his’ property, ‘his’ possession, ‘his’ in all ways, mind AND body. Inadvertently stimulated by him while being taken to the underground city in which his people live, our heroine begins to ‘awaken’ both physically & mentally, causing thoughts that never before occurred to her to spill & tumble within her confused mind.
And once in his home Isu gives her a name, Aspel, & asks her a question that releases her chained spirit, one that cannot & will not be chained ever again . . . .
Ms Renard does (IMO) an admirable job creating a world, cultures, peoples that intrigue the reader. This book is very well written & I read it in one sitting & didn’t want to put it down, skip or skim any portions. Nothing jerked me from the story & I found the dialogue & interaction between Isu & Aspel to be steamy, compelling & thought-provoking.
I found myself drawn into Aspel’s situation, invested in the journey she & Isu were taking & enjoyed the suspense of just how their relationship would resolve itself. I also found delightful humor with some Earth survivors who were definitely of the Aussie persuasion & embraced life to the full extent available to them.
There’s a lot to consider in this one, that makes a reader ponder (at least THIS reader), romance, dominance, submission, danger, suspense, tension & love. A very nice way to spend some time away from ‘real life’ & I enjoyed it very, very much.
