Take one sexy bartender. Add a badass cop. A splash of sweet, that’s me. One sour, that’s him… and serve over ice. That’s how you’ll get to my current situation. You know the girl – the one who commands the scene, bottle of liquor in hand, pouring liquid fire into the willing throats of patrons as they let loose at the local bar? That’s me.I may be known as the town party girl, but in reality I’m … town party girl, but in reality I’m this close to my dream of opening my own bar – McConaugheys. Yes, it will be named after the acclaimed actor. What can I say? I’m a sucker for that sexy Texan.
Everything was going as planned until the night I had a few drinks and accepted a ride home from a friend. A misunderstanding leads to an arrest, and now I’m at the mercy of the one man I can’t stand, and trust me, the feeling is definitely mutual.
Adam Reingold is six-feet-tall and built like a stallion — the man is the epitome of male. He also happens to be the town narc and hates my guts. There’s a story to our past and it’s not a pretty one.
So, now, here I am, chained to him for the summer like a hardened criminal, doing whatever he tells me to do. Problem is, I can’t help but look at him when he’s not watching and wonder what our future could be like if things were different.
There are so many reasons why he’s all wrong for me. Even more reasons why I need to stay away from him.
It’s a cocktail of trouble. Best served shaken, not stirred.

Whenever I’m an a rut or feeling like I’m losing my reading mojo, Jeannine Colette seems to be that one author that can pull me out of my funk. Her books always flow nicely and I read with a smile on my face the entire time.
Wrecked was no different. I loved Leah’s sassiness and Adam’s demeanor. They’ve both been through a tragedy and even though it threatened to ruin them, their spirits were too strong to go dormant.
All the matthew mcconaughey references cracked me up and brought out Leah’s craziness even more. Her family added a great side story, adding even more smilies and laughter to the book. I wish my Grandma was like hers!
This book has it all, laughter, angst, sadness, smiles, love and oh yeah, an amazing cameo from Trevin and Lily. <3
I Highly recommend!!
Leah is the bartender of The Bucking Bronco’s she’s sassy, feisty when needed, smart-mouth, and sensitive, intelligent and knows what she likes and go for it!
Adam is an enigma to me right from the start. A tall, gorgeous, sexy as hell cop that can’t seem to forgive Leah for whatever she did in the past. But as the story progress you’ll be able to feel how protective, sweet, and romantic Adam can be when it comes to Leah!
One incident led to the arrest of Leah and Adam as her probation officer; sanction her to 100 hours of community service. Together they help build a house for the “Homes for All Souls” project. At first these two have some awkward moments, witty banter between Adam & Leah will give you some laugh-out-loud moments. Through flashback, we learned what really happened seven years ago that created a rift between Adam & Leah. Will they be able to buried the past and move on?
I greatly enjoyed Wrecked from beginning to end. It’s a feel good book that will make you laugh at some scene and at the same time felt the angst between two people who certainly have feeling for each other but can’t seem to let go of what happened in the past. The characters are well-developed and the pacing of the story moved steadily. This isn’t my first book from Jeannine Colette and every time I read her book it was time well-spent! If you’re in the mood for some rom-com read, I highly recommend this one!
I confess, I did it officer Adam! I would gladly put em up for him, my new book boyfriend with a huge heart. Leah is a pretty cool lady with an unparalleled drive to succeed who denies any pleasure that would detract from her goals. In this slow burn romance I couldn’t wait for the come together… let me tell you, it was so worth the wait! I’m officially adding Jeannine Collette to my list of favorite authors and I have a whole bunch of books added to my TBR!
Leah, known as the town party girl, is close to her dream of opening her own bar, McConaughey’s (after the acclaimed actor). Everything was going as planned until one night she had a few drinks and accepted a ride home from a friend. A misunderstanding led to an arrest. She is now at the mercy of the one man she cannot stand, and the feeling is mutual. Adam is tall and built like a stallion. He is the town’s narc and dislikes Leah. There is a story to their past and it is not a pretty one. She commits to helping him for the summer, doing community service. – Leah is fun and likeable but seems a little immature or perhaps inexperienced with men. Adam is quiet and serious. They are opposites but balance each other. I loved Leah’s parents. The story goes back and forth in time. That is a little distracting, but this is a good romance.
This book surpasses every imaginable sensory experience. Loss ,love, death, hate, regret. Such a story had me on edge throughout the book. Great characters, along with new found love, conflicts and undying love. Thank you.
new twist, enjoyed the story
Just wanted to slap her sometimes to open up and let the good guy come in. Both were hurting from an incident years ago involving his best friend who was also her boyfriend. Good story and word building to finding their way to each other and learning from the past.
A story of going after what you really want.
I thought this was a great book. Enjoyed reading it. It kept me involved and didn’t want to put it down.
I did not like either character I’m the beginning and I am so glad I stayed with the story. I loved them at the end and loved the story. Great character development and an amazing story. Loved it!
Loved the book, the story was absolutely fantastic and the characters were incredible. The author Elizabeth Knox has outdone herself on this book about Irish mafia. The characters Caprice (Amber) and Liam their chemistry was hot as, Liam will do anything to protect Caprice but at what cost.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4.5 stars
This paperback has been sitting on my shelf for a while. I grabbed it at a signing and it kept moving further and further down my WTR pile. I FINALLY picked it up and I am so glad I did.
The female protagonist, Leah, is a gal who knows what she wants in life and knows how to go about achieving it. Adam is her childhood best friend and through a turn of events, they separated their lives and are just now figuring things out. Slow Burn for sure.
Part of the story is told in flashbacks which allows for background information to be filled in. Adam is NOT written in the best light which is something that I enjoyed about this story. He has his reasons, but he is a real jerk at times. I also enjoyed the over all character development. The author does a good job of conveying emotions w/out pandering to the reader.
This is a book I would recommend and I am going to continue with the Abandoned Collection.
Wrecked by Jeannine Colette. This is a new to me author and let me start off by saying, I am in love!!!! This book made me feel like I was in the scene as it was unfolding. I could not put it down.
Leah , the local bartender and Adam, the local town cop, have known each other for years, they used to be friends. That was until Adam’s best friend and Leah’s boyfriend dies. Since that day, they have tried to avoid each other, it almost worked until Leah does something and they are brought back to face each other. Will they be able to get over the hurt and hatred or are they destined to live the rest of their lives with it continuing?
I can not wait to read more of Ms. Colette’s books. I think I found my new go to author!!!!!!!
Wrecked! It’s more than just the title to this book!
It has many meanings and will have you wanting more! Leah and Adam have History and this book not only gives you that but it will wreck you in many ways along the way! Jeannine Colette writes a wonderful story and I definitely recommend anything she writes!
WRECKED by Jeannine Colette is a standalone, but takes place prior to her RECKLESS ABANDON Book. Where we meet the wonderful Paige family. As a huge fan of Jeannine Colette I urge you to start at the beginning of her Abandon Series! Roses to everyone to start at the beginning of this series!!
This story starts with Leah Marie Page, as a 23 year old bartender who has dreams of owning her own bar in Cedar Ridge, Ohio. Some might think being a bar owner is a crazy goal for a twenty-three-year-old, but this is what made her feel good and happy. It was her dream.
Adam Reingold is the top cop in the small town of Cedar Ridge, Ohio. He is six feet tall and built like a stallion, the man is the epitome of male. He is the symbol of honor, protection, but “ruiner” of fun. Ever since a drug overdose killed his best friend who also happened to be Leah’s boyfriend, too. His name had been Brad, and now Adam was on a mission to make sure no one is messing around with narcotics on his watch. He may be gorgeous to look at, but Leah felt that since Brad’s passing he had become a stranger to her. He had once been her best friend, but now blames her for anything bad that ever happened. Seven years of wasted time. He had cruelly abandoned her when she needed him most. She could never forgive him she though, until she needed him again. Only this time he stayed and wouldn’t go away.
When a so called friend offered to drive her home after a night of drinking, Leah finds that decision was not the best. Her friend crashes her car and takes off running. Leaving her to face the consequences and 100 hours of civic duty with Adam building houses for a charitable cause. Even though she had not been the one driving, no one would believe her, and so starts the rebuilding of houses and their relationship.
It is a slow burn romance, and a wonderful story. It is told in the then and now, but blended well into the story. I love Jeannine Colette’s writing. “Adam is the man created from the rib of God, and I am his Eve, tempting him with the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.” And when the stars have finally aligned we get a whole lot of wonderful ending.
Leah is a very independent woman… she decided to not pursue college instead of working so hard to get her dream of owning her own bar..
She grow up with guilt and pain from losing someone she love..
Adam is a strich guy .. being an officer with all the rules to keep his town safe…he is a mysterious man who doesnt speak his feeling too often..he is much more a listener and observant…
Leah and Adam grow up together.. being together all the time… Leah obssesion with Mccoughneys really brought the story alive…i love the jokes.. sense of humour..love the warmth of small community..
Their attraction really confused me from going back and forward but it happened.. it was like an explosion.. hard and fast… i love the letters for sure!!!
Typical second chance contemporary romance…
Adam the hot, uptight cop.
Leah the town party girl with spunk, smarts and determination.
Adam and Leah share a history and were good friends once, until a shared tragedy tore them apart.
Seven years later they still live in the same home town, life goes on, hate and hurt make them avoid each other like the plague and then it happens, Leah’s life is derailed by an unfortunate incident with a friend and she finds herself in handcuffs.
Adam seizes the opportunity, a deal is struck, is this really where Leah’s life derails or is she finally on the right track?
