Lovely story, just like watching a Hallmark movie.
Such a Sweet Read!
Janice Lynn knocked one out of the park with Wrapped Up In Christmas. This mistaken identity story about a wounded warrior who goes in search of “the little old lady” who gifted him with a quilt was such a sweet read. I’m definitely looking forward to more books by Janice Lynn.
A very sweet love story set in a charming small town at Christmas
Not a trashy, vulgar, book!!
Former soldier, Bodie Lewis has traveled to Pine Hill, Kentucky to thank a woman named Sarah for a quilt he received from her through the Quilts of Valor Foundation. When he gets there, he is surprised to discover that Sarah is not the sweet elderly lady he had been picturing in his mind and when an opportunity to help her presents itself, he decides to take it. This is a very enjoyable, heartwarming Christmas romance. Reading a book or watching a movie from Hallmark makes me want to curl up on a sofa with a hot cup of tea and a blanket. I loved the small, tight-knit community of Pine Hill and all of its kind, eccentric residents. Sarah and Bodie were wonderful characters and I enjoyed seeing their love for each other grow throughout the book. If you’re a fan of Hallmark Christmas movies then you will definitely enjoy this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
This is such a good book!
I truly enjoyed reading it!
It’s a heartwarming & moving story.
Sarah, inherited an old Victorian home.
Turning it into a B & B, is going to take a lot of work. When a man walked into the church, Sarah assumed he was answering her handy man ad.
The reason Bodie was there to
thank Sarah for the special gift he
received from her. But after meeting
her, he forgot all about that.
Everything you want in a true
Christmas romance.
Sarah Bodie, steal your heart
from the very first pages to the last.
It has the small town charm & the comfort
of friends & family.
I loved everything about this Must
Read Story!!
If you only read one Christmas themed book this year , read this one !Sarah is the perfect heroine ,her heart is pure gold, the love she has for her fellow “butterflies” and her family is endearing, her values and hope is catching. Loved Bodies story as well, the quilt and it’s meaning will forever stay with me as this story will.
Because this book was published by Hallmark and the cover did not look bad, I was hoping this book would not have cuss words or graphic physical scenes. I was so glad I was right about that. This book was such a great Christmas book. I will say though that it was a little frustrating to see that the main male character’s name was spelled wrong in more than one place and I remember one other typo that made the sentence read funny though it was easy to figure out what it should have instead. However, all that being said I would still recommend this book. Also, it is such a good story that all the typos aside it is well worth reading especially if you like good Christmas stories.
Loved the story of what happens when the recipient of a Quilt of Valor meets the maker.
All the best elements exist in this poignant, sweet, Hallmark-worthy tale. Grab the tissues, enjoy a favorite winter beverage and journey to the picturesque, small town of Pine Hill. Meet the senior lady Butterflies who craft and match-make like crazy. Currently, Sarah is in the center of their crosshairs. Also caught is Bodie, who agrees to help Sarah restore her surrogate mother/late aunt’s grand home into a bed and breakfast.
Hopefully, we’ll see more from the town and author Janice Lynn, who is a truly gifted writer. Look for a bonus recipe infamous in the Pine Hill area. Another bonus includes the full instructions for making your own Quilt of Valor for wounded veterans.
I received a copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
This hometown Christmas novel is everything a reader wants from a feel-good Christmas story; emotion, love, and healing. Broken hearts, an injured soldier who has lost his way, and one quilt that brings two complete stranger together. I loved the small town atmosphere and the group of women who loved Sarah like their own. This is one heartwarming Christmas novel that you will not soon forget!
I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A sweet Christmas story that is perfect to read this upcoming Veteran’s Day weekend. You will turn the last page filled with love and Christmas fuzzies. Being a Kentucky girl, I found the setting of the small Kentucky town absolutely wonderful. The cover alone is so beautiful that you feel your falling into the story just staring at it. I sure hope this book is made into a movie soon.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Hallmark Publishing, through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.
This is a sweet, heart-warming romance. Sarah made and donated a Quilt to a program that gives them to wounded veterans. Bodie is the recipient of the quilt and wants to than Sarah in person for the gift. It helped him when he was in a very dark place. Bodie arrived in Pine Hill and expects Sarah to be a an octogenarian. Boy is he in for a surprise. Every assumes he is answering a help wanted ad, so he doesn’t tell Sarah why he is there. As he helps Sarah restore her beloved Aunt’s home to be a showcase Bed & Breakfast, he starts to fall in love with the vivacious young woman. She brings light and laughter to his life. But he thinks his life should go in a different direction. Sarah falls for Bodie, but knows he doesn’t want to stay. It takes a while and the effort of “the Butterflies”, a group of Senior Citizens you love Sarah.
This is a sweet, clean Christmas Romance. It is enjoyable and the people of the community sound wonderful. The story is cute and kept my attention. I just wish both had acknowledged how they felt instead of being to stubborn.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and offer my honest opinion of this book.
Sarah is getting ready for her favorite season with her Butterflies. The women who helped mold her along with her Aunt . Her Aunt has passed away and the man who she thought would be her future left. She is a loving giving woman who is trying to rebuild her life. She is wanting to get the house her Aunt built her restored and turn in into a Inn.
Bodie is searching for the woman who made him his quilt of valor. He is trying to heal both physically and mentally after being injured as a soldier. He has taken a job with his friend security company and hopes to thank the woman before his job begins. When he finds Pine Hill he didn’t expect the woman to be a beautiful young woman. After he hears she needs help decides it would be good to thank her by helping with the house.
I enjoyed watching these 2 get to know each other and experience Christmas together. The Butterflies were great and showed how much they love Sarah. Great Read. I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.
Wonderful new Hallmark book with the promise of a tender Christmas romance for a wounded veteran and the kind-hearted heroine who made him a quilt before they even met. Ah, my heart!
With a romance lover’s heart, a quilter’s sensibilities, and a baker’s appreciation, I read author Janice Lynn’s “Wrapped Up in Christmas”–and I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday love story! Former Army Ranger Bodie Lewis was honorably discharged after living through an explosion that killed all the men in the unit under his command. Still healing in body and mind, and dealing with survivor’s guilt, Bodie makes it his personal mission to find the woman who made the beautiful quilt he received through the “Quilt of Valor” program. He has a need to express his gratitude and to let the woman know how much comfort he had felt from the quilt and the kind note that she had included. Once he reaches the small town of Pine Hill, Kentucky, and finds the quilt-maker, Sarah Smith, he is greatly surprised to find a beautiful young woman instead of the silver-haired grandmother that he had expected. Sarah thinks Bodie has come to answer her want ad for a handyman to work on her home, and he lets her continue to think that as he works on her very special project as a way of repaying her kindness. Sarah’s big dream is to renovate and restore the house left to her by her Aunt Jean with hopes of turning it into a successful Bed & Breakfast. Bodie, along with his dog Harry, provides encouragement and companionship as the work progresses on the home and the holidays grow nearer. Sarah’s older friends, a group of well-meaning church-lady instigators, known as “The Butterflies”, see the possibility of more than just friendship between Sarah and Bodie, but Sarah knows better. When the work on the house is done, Bodie will be gone, back on track on his way to a new job and a new life far from her small hometown in Kentucky. Working as an administrator in her church, helping with any community need that arises, and planning for her B&B keeps Sarah busy, but it doesn’t ease all the loneliness in heart. Bodie is as drawn to Sarah as she is to him, and he knows that not telling her the truth about himself is not fair. Even though he has found something he never expected in the time he has spent with Sarah, he still plans to leave. The military had been his whole life, and a chance to work for an army buddy’s security firm now seems like the only good option he has for his future. Can he leave beautiful, sweet Sarah and the welcoming community behind? Can Sarah bear to let him go? The spirit of the holidays has a way of deepening emotions and bringing hope and inspiration to troubled hearts–can it work its unique magic on Sarah and Bodie? This charming small-town romance also includes a delicious recipe for “Cinnamon Swirl Bread” and a beautiful patriotic quilt pattern.

This book is a romantic, feel good story that will touch your heart and fill you with gratitude just like Sarah and Bodie were filled with gratitude. The heartfelt story has beautiful characters, a quilt, a sense of community, hope and love that will wrap you up in the spirit of Christmas just like the Quilt of Valor Sarah unknowingly made for Bodie.
I really liked the significance of the quilt and how it not only touched Bodie’s heart but came full circle and touched Sarah’s heart as well during her first Christmas without her special aunt. Sarah’s mom died shortly after she was born and her dad raised her along with his sister and the town of Pine Hill. I really enjoyed the special group of women known as the Butterflies that had always looked out for Sarah. they seemed to show up everywhere which made for some interesting situations in the book. The B&B, the Hamilton House that Sarah inherited from her aunt and the special Christmas activities in the town of Pine Hill sound like a special, magical place. I really loved this touching story. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
After an honorable discharge from the military, Bodie Lewis got a job at his buddy’s security company. On his way there, he made a couple of stops. One was to thank the woman who made him the Quilt of Valor he received while in the hospital recovering from injuries he got from an IED. That quilt helped him get through some tough times and he wanted her to know how much he appreciated it. Expecting to find an older woman, he was shocked to see she was in her 20s. But before he could say anything, several older ladies assumed he was there to answer the young woman’s handyman ad and started interrogating/interviewing him. Wanting to repay her kindness, he took the job.
With the main characters, Bodie was a wonderful hero and I couldn’t help sympathizing with him after all that he’s been through. Sarah liked doing community service projects with the church and loved working with her friends who called themselves The Butterflies. These elderly church ladies watched out for each other and were always ready to protect Sarah – whether she needed them to or not. I liked Sarah. She was so upbeat and positive all the time. Always thinking of others, she made quilts for the Quilts of Valor Foundation.
Sarah and Bodie had an interesting first encounter. There was definitely chemistry, but both were cautious about acting on it.
I enjoyed this sweet small-town romance with it’s HEA that left me smiling.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley
The Healing Power of Christmas
This is a heartwarming story of a war-weary veteran who comes home to a loving and giving woman and the healing begins. It is of no surprise that Hallmark is publishing this book as it really should be one of their movies. It is very well written and I hated to see it end. It is a lovely and clean story that doesn’t have a negative vibe in it anywhere. I loved it and want to read more like it, I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without Hallmark. Available on 10-2-19, Wrapped Up In Christmas, by Janice Lynn, is a Hallmark story for a snowy night read with a cup of hot chocolate. Romance can’t be any sweeter or more pure than the kind offered up by Ms Lynn and Hallmark.
Bodie Lewis, our hero, is a damaged man, physically and emotionally, who’s trying hard to get on with his life. Everything is changing and he’s got to adapt, but how? His PTSD makes it a daily struggle. He’s still military stern, not given to showing his feelings, or smiling. Life on the “outside” is strange and scary. He’s recuperated enough to head home to see his Mom but 1st stop is Pine Hill, KY. He’d been gifted with a handmade quilt while in the hospital. The Quilts Of Valor project is real and to be commended on their good works. He wants to personally thank the quilt maker but is pole-axed when he meets the young lady, not the grandmother type he expected. She’s pretty, with a wholesome, small town girl vibe. He’s drawn to her, she’s good and kind. A misunderstanding has Bodie hiding why he’s there and signing on to be a handyman. He’s a stereotypical ex-military character, which I found hard to get excited about. He’s a handsome, nice enough guy but his stoic demeanor dragged for me.
Sarah Smith is the type of woman who’s been burned pretty bad in the romance department & has given up. She no longer tries at all. She’s devoted to her town and it’s people, throwing all her time and effort into them. Her dreams of happiness and love are put away in the back of her mind. She’s now fixated on turning her beloved late Aunt’s home into a B&B. Good looking Bodie is a gift from Heaven, a handyman sent in her time of desperate need. She’s a rigid character too, set in her ways but considers herself content not stuck.
These two need each other, they each heal the other one and become more complete, rounded humans. It’s a difficult romance, despite that instant, deep attraction. I never fully invested in the characters even though the story is good and the writing flows. My favorite character turned out to be Harry, the dog. He’s awesome.
