Death calls to me, and unfortunately for me, I’m his b*tch…Being the daughter of a wraith means that death is in my veins. It also means that just because I happen to be found around a lot of dead bodies doesn’t mean I’m a serial killer. But try to get the jackass Supernatural Enforcers to believe that. The thing is, I can’t tell them what I am, because according to the paranormal world I’m an … according to the paranormal world I’m an “abomination” that would need to be killed. So, I have no good excuse for all the crime scene appearances.
Which leads me to Nightmare Penitentiary, my lovely new home. A place with a lot of dangerous enemies, secrets, and three hot-as-sin prisoners who seem to want to do all kinds of dirty things to me.
Doesn’t sound bad does it? Enemies and secrets I’d take, as long as I got my yummy men.
If only prisoners weren’t being murdered, we might be able to find our own slice of paradise in hell itself. But with time working against us, we need to find a way to escape.
Or else the next prisoners being murdered might just be us.

Ohhh this started a bit slow, but then it really takes off. There is quite a lot of things happening in this book. Lots of action, steam, I think it has a bit of everything that you need. Elizabeth may not know what she is but she isn’t about to let anyone tell her what to do or just give her trust to anyone. Nor should she, not in a place like Nightmare Penitentiary. Loved it!
Another great book for Nightmare Penitentiary series. What’s going on behind the prison walls at night? Theres a mystery, monsters galore and an inheritance of power that could save them all. The DMV is kick ass, smart and of unknown ability. Her men are super hot with unique powers all their own. Together can they survive and escape? And what about the demon wolf that obeys her? Thats got to come up again. Anxiously awaiting the next book in this excellent series
This book was so amazing! Once I started it I could not put it down; I loved every minute of it.
The storyline was set at a nice, consistent pace and the characters were engaging and charismatic. It was very easy to stay glued to the pages with the continual suspense, mystery, and excitement of the unknown waiting to see what would happen next. The emotions, actions, and conversations, as well as arguments, between the characters seemed natural and in pace with the events happening in the story; nothing felt out of place.
The story was captivating and intense and the reveal of the characters’ backgrounds and powers was full of suspense and anticipation. My heart ached for each of them in certain situations and several scenes had me on the edge-of-my-seat hoping for a good outcome. There were a couple of touch and go moments that had me worried but they, among other amazingly described scenes, kept me flipping pages as fast as I could to see what was happening next.
There was constant danger, non-stop action, suspense, and mystery, and sexy times to enjoy. I am excited about the next book and looking forward to seeing what happens to the gang next.
Our heroine is sent to the supernatural penitentiary on flimsy grounds and that just serves to make her a bit angry. Enter three men willing to help her out.
This is a paranormal romance with a reverse harem theme. Like all the previous books by this author which I have read, the story is well written and easy to read. The story takes place in a shared world setting which is richly developed and has lots of intriguing aspects to explore. The characters are also well developed, all with distinct personalities which blend together in interesting ways. This is almost an insta-love story, so if you prefer the slow burn variety, this is not it. The plot is also well done and moves along at a good pace, which made this a fun and easy read. On a last note, the story does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so keep that in mind. Overall, a highly enjoyable story.
Highly recommended.

Wraith Captive is one of eleven books in the multi author Nightmare Penitentiary. Elizabeth was sent to nightmare penitentiary by her best friends, princes Gabriel, Blade, and Ax. When their father died and Elizabeth is found singing in the same night, they immediately blame her and banish her. Betrayed by the only people she really cares about, Elizabeth has to deal with everything alone. It’s a really good reverse harem book with a HEA.

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to finish this one because I just couldn’t get in to the first half of the story. I pushed on because I’d promised an ARC, and I found that I did end up enjoying the story. You have to feel for the FMC going to prison for being in the wrong place at the wrong time because you have an innate pull to death. What makes the prison so bad is 1. Being the only female in the entire prison. 2. There’s something supernatural killing the inmates. & the worst one of all 3. Your ex is a prisoner there & the entire prison is afraid of him. What’s a girl to do when he takes her under his protection along with the only other 2 half-breeds in the prison & having to come to accept her other side is the only thing between her & escaping.
The characters are interesting once you get about halfway thru the story. There are some steamy scenes & lots of action.
Oh my goodness, this book was amazing. I loved how fast I got sucked into this book. There is so much that goes on but at the same time so much mystery. We do get some answers to some questions but there is still a lot left unanswered. So we know that Elizabeth keeps a tight lid on her supernatural side. Why? Per her research they will kill her. So does someone know who she is? Then you have Gabriel, Ax and Blade who are just as intriguing. So we all know they all have a dark side and are attracted to her. She is to them as well. Nightmare Penitentiary is no place to be and it sounds as horrendous as its name. It seems have nightmares that are told to your children to keep them in line however it is being used for something. But what? What of the corpsesnare and why did it not attack her? Ugh I need answers and hopefully I will not have to wait to long. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

complaining because I really enjoy what she writes. They are usually unique and steamy and well keep me coming back for more. My case in point in fact is reading her 3 latest prison books back-to-back (glutton for a good book).
Okay so, while this book starts off good and I really enjoy that it ties into some of the rest of the NP series (that I really enjoy from various other authors). I love the author brings in aspects that you read in the other NP books, like the CorpseSnare. All that being said, I was about to b!tch slap Elizabeth if didn’t quit saying “I’m human.” Enough Ho ain’t nobody believe you. You are in a supernatural prison, surrounded by paranormal who say they can sense and/or smell your power – stop saying your human. It was getting old 20 pages ago. I almost wanted her to get eaten (I’m sorry LCA. I love you, but some one knock the girl up side the head, please ). I liked the mystery behind the guys, not knowing who or what they were out what they were capable of. It gave for some added drama. So I’m give it a 3 stars because it’s me not the book. Elizabeth is just not a character I could connect with except a hand upside the head to tell her to get it together. . . But once again that on me and not the book. It’s a solid plot and the writing was what you expect with LCA – drama, steamy fun, intrigue, WHAT?!?, Cliffie

This is soooo steamy, so climatic, just all around so good! Great intimate scenes. Amazing cliffhanger!

The story line and character work were okay and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. I was unable to connect to any of the characters and the book seemed to lack a little depth. As this is the first book in the series, I am hoping that the following books get a little more depth to them.

I like reading the stories within the penitentiary and this one takes you on a crazy journey. I loved getting to know Elizabeth and the four men who you can tell will become her everything. However, I was not expecting a cliffhanger so in order to finish their story, we will have to wait.

*Spoiler Alert*
Death seems to follow Elizabeth (FMC) and when six men die the finger points at her. Regardless of her innocence shes sentenced and sent to Nightmare Penitentiary. A prison full of hardened Supernatural criminals.Which makes Elizabeth out of her depth as well as being a woman. That in itself is unusual and dangerous for her. Except when she gets there she becomes the focus of Gabriel (someone she already knows) and his friends Ax & Blade. Steamy scenarios with all guys follow throughout this book as they help her survive prison life. I loved the dynamic with them all and the part where she feeds Blake is so flaming hot!! Omg!! Loving this 1st book in this series so much. Its a bloody brilliant read
