Wounded Falcon was a fun read that includes characters from a few book series crossovers; familiar faces show up from Jesse’s series, as well as Elle James’ Brotherhood Protector Series and Susan Stoker’s Special Forces Operation Alpha Series. Jesse does a good job of bringing them all together in this action-packed, suspenseful story.
If you follow the Rainhorse series, then FBI Agent Jim Andrews will be familiar to you as well. He first appeared in Guardian Ranger (Jesse’s addition to the BH Protector Series) where here meets Rainhorse for the first time. Then he continually has appearances in the rest of the series where he plays a part in aiding Rainhorse and Lindsey at different pivotal moments throughout the other reads. If you want to enjoy the series in order it goes as follows: Guardian Ranger, Rainhorse, Rainhorse Returns, A Good Samaritan, Long Ghost and then this new addition, Wounded Falcon.
FBI Agent Andrews always made a strong side character and assisted with the investigative aspects in certain instances in the previous books in this series so it was nice to actually learn more about him and what he stands for, as well as having him appear as one of the main characters in his own story and find his own HEA.
FBI Agent Julie Love (Jesse’s Honor series in Stoker’s SF: Operation Alpha series) from the Office of Professional Responsibility has been tasked, by the FBI Director himself, with the assignment to get to the bottom of the possible collusion and misconduct by Agent Andrews on previous FBI cases involving the notorious Rainhorse. She is brazen and tenacious and takes her job very seriously. She always gets her man and she intends to get to the bottom of the accusations against Agent Andrews whatever the cost.
FBI Agent Jim Andrews is considered a ‘cowboy’ in the field. He is a risk taker and rule breaker but follows his gut and does what he thinks is right and he gets results. Unbeknownst it to him, his past assignments that have involved Rainhorse sightings have come under scrutiny at the highest level. Big shots are gunning for him and will use whatever means at their disposal to discredit and damage his reputation and possibly even end his life. When Agent Love shows up nosing around and the two of them end up in the middle of the conspiracy seeking the truth behind the cover up, things being spiraling out of control. Sparks fly between Andrews and Love as they search for the truth of Wounded Falcon in order to save their lives. On the run, with no one to trust, Andrews turns to an old friend to get the answers he needs to keep both himself and Agent Love alive. Will the gamble pay off in their favor or will the decision bring forth deadly consequences?
I really enjoyed these characters and storyline of this read. It is a great addition to the Rainhorse series and falls right in line with the other stories. There is plenty of action, suspense, some romance, several twists and turns, and a few surprise appearances by characters attached to other authors’ series, including Axel Svenson (Swede) from Elle James’ Bride Protector SEAL. And I absolutely loved the ending! Very fitting for Andrews and Love’s HEA.
