Surprise, surprise!
My baby daddy bailed me out of bankruptcy.
I never expected James to be back.
It means trouble.
He has no clue that he’s the father of my kid.
How could he?
He abandoned me when I needed him.
And now, he thinks that my whole world belongs to him.
Yeah, right…
It’s a lie he needs to stop telling himself.
Even if he’s the hottest FBI field agent to ever exist.
James is … he’s the hottest FBI field agent to ever exist.
James is investigating a dangerous threat.
A threat that wasn’t supposed to harm me.
But I’m connected to him, so that must’ve made me eligible.
Danger is right around the corner.
So is heartbreak.
What will strike first?
“Worth The Wait” is part of “Her Protector” series but can be enjoyed as a complete standalone with a very satisfying HEA and absolutely no-cheating. You don’t need to follow any specific reading order to enjoy this series.

The love that didn’t die
Bree and James had fallen in love in high school; however, he left her behind when he went to college. At the time he didn’t know that she was pregnant, and she didn’t tell him because she wanted him to be able to follow his dreams. When he comes back to town it’s to solve a cyber crime. He finds out that she has purchased his family’s farm and that she’s not living alone. Will they be able to walk away again?
Great characters in this well written and captivating story.

The author has given us characters we can care about. This story pulls you into the lives of Bree, James and Ian and never lets go. Full of love/lust, action and suspense, this book cannot be set down.

Secrets, misconceptions, recriminations, that is the past shared between Bree and James. Their youthful love didn’t last, each choosing their path. A case brings FBI agent James back to town, bringing him face to face with Bree once more. The chemistry is as dynamic as ever, however a revelation might change everything. Bree was a dimensional heroine, strong, sensitive and likeable.
Bree is a strong, spitfire, single mom to Ian – an adorable 4 year old who has a love for costumes. When her ex, James, shows back up to their hometown to help track down a groups of cyber criminals – the chemistry between the two reignites. But will James be able to handle the secret that Bree has carried and move forward with their relationship the way he wants to? Will James be able to keep Bree safe when the danger gets to close for comfort?
Miley keeps exceeding my expectations with each book she publishes and I fall in love more with her writing when I finish each one. This one proves no different, Miley built up such an amazing world of characters packed with suspense, a little mystery, a healthy dose of to die for chemistry and steam, and an ending that will leave you smiling. I truly can’t wait to read what she writes next!
****I received an ARC of this book directly from the author in exchange for my honest review. In turn, I purchased the book to add to my collection because I enjoyed it so much****
I enjoyed getting into this book. I was hooked on the story and history of James and Bree from the beginning. There’s a great up and down with the heartbreak from their past, the time apart, the big secret and mixing that with a bit of suspense helps make this such a great read. Ian is adorably perfect! Lovable characters, great story flow, I was pulled in to their world and enjoyed every minute of it.
5 Stars for Worth The Wait by Miley Maine

Bree and James are high school sweethearts – not sure what the future holds as James dreams of leaving their small town to pursue a career in the FBI. Bree has aspirations of going to veterinary school but those plans do not come to fruition because of an unplanned pregnancy. Bree & James end up breaking up going their separate ways.
Several years later James comes back to town on a mission with the FBI. Seeing Bree again he discovers that he is the father of her son Ian. The love they had for each other is still there & leads to a second chance HEA.
Loved this book – great storyline & characters !
Highly recommend this book & author !!
The problem, a South American terrorist cell is infiltrating rural Texas towns with their eyes on the Texas Power Grids. The Dallas field office is maxed out so the Houston field office, where Det James Wakefield works has been called in to assist. James’ specialty is terrorism and he is excited to use his skills. When James finds out he and his team are heading to Laurel bay, his hometown, on the other side of Dallas, he isn’t as excited; Walter, his father, Mary, his step-mother and Bree, his former love, still live there along with Bree’s 4 year old son, Ian, who happens to be his son he knows nothing about. Jack hasn’t been home to see any of them in 5 years.
When Bree’s mom, Elizabeth dies, she tries to maintain their home but, in time, she has Ian and ends up losing the house. This is when Walter, James’ father, and his wife Mary invite Bree and Ian to live with them. Bree ends up with the farm and things seem to be going well until the last year when some of the cows needed medical attention, they lost part of the roof on one of the buildings and several other things so Bree is now further in debt than she thinks she can get out of.
Besides working the farm, she is a volunteer fireman every Friday and she also works part time for the local Vet.

5. Ian was a clone of Walter’s son, even though it had never been formally mentioned he was the grandfather.
6. Worked for Dr Casey, the local vet, part time.
James Wakefield
1. Walter’s son, tall, lean, muscular, wide shoulders, thick brown hair, brown eyes, deep voice,
2. Youngest FBI agent in the Houston field office.
3. His mother had left in the middle of the night when he was 4 years old. His father finally tracked her down in Florida and she was pregnant with another man’s baby. Walter had burned all her photos and never spoke of her again.
Lacy

2. County sheriff’s deputy
James and Bree were high school sweethearts. They thought they’d be together forever. Except she thought their forever would be in their home town. He thought is would be anywhere but their hometown.
Flash forward five years. James is an FBI agent, living the life he always talked about.
Bree is living on Jane’s family’s ranch, which she now owns, with Jane’s father and stepmother and her secret from James.
When the FBI comes to town Bree and James run into each other and she knows she needs to tell him her secret.
When the secrets out will James still want to be with her? Will they catch the terrorist? Can he protect her?
I’m not sure the blurb about him getting her out of bankruptcy is a key piece of the story.
Characters are likeable.
Second chance you don’t want to miss
This is the second book in Miley Maine’s Her Protector Series and it was “Worth the Wait” This book has a great set of characters with Bree and James who were high school sweethearts but parted ways because of somewhat miscommunications. 5 years later James has followed his dreams of being an FBI agent and he has returned to his hometown because of work. I don’t like to spoil the plot and Miley did a great job with this one and it will keep you turning the pages. There is some danger, suspense, surprises and a heck of a lot of heat between Bree and James. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. I am fast becoming a Miley fan she sure knows how to deliver a good solid story that will leave you satisfied all the way around.

Fast forward 5 years and James is sent back home due to some terrorists possibly there to attack. Bree has a secret and seeing James sparks anger and hidden desire. Can James catch the terrorists before they attack? Can he forgive Bree for lying? Can she forgive him for leaving? This is a great book a must read. This book was fabulous. Miley Maine hit a homerun with this one. I couldn’t put the book down. James and Bree were great characters. James and Bree were childhood friends turned high school sweethearts. They were even engaged for about a half a second. But they wanted different things in that stage of their lives. After coming back to visit once, James left never looking back. Although Bree and James’s father encouraged him to leave and get on with his life. Four years later and James is back in his hometown on official FBI business. He is in for some big surprises and with that danger will also follow. I highly recommend this book.
This is my first book by Miley Maine and it won’t be my last. I greatly enjoyed the story and the characters! It’s part of a series but also a great stand alone! received this book in exchange for my honest review.
