“Being with him is the very definition of getting stuck between a rock and a hard place.”All Tristan’s ever wanted was to make a difference – and becoming a lawyer was the tool to make that happen. It’s easy for people to judge others without thinking, but Tristan’s seen too many innocents chewed up and spat out by the system to not fight for those who’ve been wronged. But this case? It’s not … case? It’s not just affecting him professionally. His ethics say that he should stay far away from the victim’s family… but his heart says he should bring Upton close and never let him go.
“I can’t believe I trusted him.”
Upton is absolutely incensed that anyone would consider letting his cousin’s murderer out of jail. But he doesn’t have time to dwell on it – he’s got a book to write if he wants to keep food on the table for him and his son. And when his son makes a new friend who has an incredibly attractive father, Upton feels himself falling for the first time since his husband left him four years ago. There’s only one problem – Tristan is a lawyer. For the defense.
Welcome to Worthington, Texas, where the heat doesn’t just rise in the summer – you’ll feel it all year long in these stories of older men and their younger lovers. Every book in the Worth It series can be read on its own, but with so many familiar characters to love, why stop with just one? This book features hot single dads, an out for you romance, and two little boys who are determined to be brothers.

PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS AND GRIEF MAKE PEOPLE VERY PREJUDICIAL
Upton is a young single father. Tristan is a forty-something single father. They meet because of their children and develop a good relationship. Upton is upset that Oliver Suarez is a wrongfully convicted murderer. Tristan wants to right this wrong, but soon finds out that Oliver was convicted of killing Upton’s cousin and because Oliver was convicted; although wrongfully, Upton is up in arms to hate Tristan and Oliver. The two must find a way to come to terms over this without harming their young sons’ relationship. I love the way Peter fought for Oliver’s rights and related wrongful convictions in this society through his story.
It is a while since I’ve read anything by Peter Styles. I bought the Worth It bundle a while ago, but haven’t started it yet, so this book was totally new to me. However, I had no problem reading it as a standalone.
I really enjoyed the story and I think the author’s writing style has matured since I last read him.The story really held my attention and I read it over two afternoons. I was always saying “just one more chapter” then reading another, and then another!
The two main characters seem evenly matched, despite Tristan being somewhat older than Upton. Being a single parent has obviously made Upton mature and responsible for his age. There was always going to be some angst when Upton found out about Tristan’s deception, but it isn’t drawn out. The love between them is sweet and hot…the best kind…and their kids are adorable.
Tristan is a single dad who is a lawyer who helps people wrongly. Upton is a single dad whose cousin was killed and now her killer Oliver Suarez is getting another trial because they say someone else killed her. Upton doesn’t believe he’s innocent. Tristan is his lawyer and believes he’s innocent. Tristan and Upton become involved. Can they overcome all the things against them. I really loved this book.
Tristan and Upton are both single dads left behind when their respective spouses moved on to other things or other people.
Upton manages to be a novelist and work from home, and he shapes his day around being done in time to pick up his son.
Tristan is a lawyer, and now that he is working as a defense attorney and taking on a lot of pro bono cases, his salary does not extended to a nanny, and his ex is very out of the picture.
The two meet on one of the days Tristan is again late to pick up his son Barney. Upton and his son Carter are thrilled to pick up Barney and have his play and eat with them until his dad picks him up.
The boys naturally plot to bring the dads together so they can be brothers, but agree that friends is good too.
One huge stumbling block stands between them: Tristan is the defense lawyer working on an appeal for the man Upton thinks killed his best friend / cousin. And Tristan is foolish enough not to say anything, once he figures out the connect to his case.
Tristan believes his client really is not guilty. But can Upton forgive the lack of honesty on the part of Tristan?
A lot of love, a lot of guilt, and the potential for some happy endings as they real culprit confesses to the murder.
Exciting and sweet love story!
