One on the wrong side of the ocean.
Lost and wandering the woods, Wynne Theaton was surviving quite nicely until Rowen Lockton appeared. He saves her from getting trampled by a thief’s horse, but then becomes insistent on showing her where she truly is…
One refusing to deny fate.
Fate tossed Miss Theaton into his path, and the Duke of Letson is not one to deny fate. But the woman comes with a … fate. But the woman comes with a host of problems, not the least of which is her belief that she is in another country.
An undeniable attraction neither expected.
He was not looking for a wife. She was only searching for home. But fate has very different plans for the two of them—if they can survive the secrets of the past, of the forgotten.
Note: The Lords of Fate and Hold Your Breath books are each stand-alone stories, and can be read individually in any order.

I enjoyed reading a Regency Romance that did not dwell mainly in London and around the idiotic antics of the ‘ton’ . This was an interesting book that showed a different side to wealth, inheritance, money and real-world problems of that era, and set of people that we too often idealize. I enjoyed having an American thrown in the mix. I was interested in how the author had her viewed by the British Polite Society. I was fascinated by the way a mind in upheaval can work–and not work. I prefer to have my romances a bit more private, and kept between the lovers. That would be my only negative comment. But I was never sure how the next chapter and the characters would wind around the event taking place, so the story kept me entertained. And curious. Good read.
Beautiful
He comes to her rescue but she can’t remember where she is. She tries to share her food but he won’t except. He brings her to his castle which is falling apart but the Dowager was happy. Partly because she didn’t like him. There are ,a lot of twists an turns but its a beautiful story of overcoming bad.
What all women need is to be heard, supported in their beliefs, and loved.
All time favorite book.
Love this book
Love this whole series.
I enjoyed these characters, and I think the author did a good job of researching the conditions of the times.I’m going to look for more from this author!
Excellent read!
Not your usual historical romance! Kept me guessing.
Some great twists and turns to this story.
This was a surprisingly enjoyable book with lots of twists. I’ll have to look at other books by this author See if the interesting trend continues.
Love reading these kind of books. A must read
I hope this author is still writing because this is my last series of hers – other than the paranormal, which is not usually my style but I will try because it is hers. I absolutely loved, loved, loved! Wynne. She was a fantastic lead and I hope I see more of her, even if only snippets.
This was a good read – both main characters are fully developed. The author had interesting road blocks for the characters to overcome, but the happy ending was inevitable.
Quite early in. The opening premise was to unbelievable for me.
This book has weak characters. A 17 year old woman is attacked by a robber in a forest in England. She has trauma amnesia apparently and reluctantly rescued by a reluctant Duke.
I finished the story but I am not sure why. I did not like the characters who were all having an individual pity party fishing for approval. That should not be done by each character in the story, it really gets old.
Clunky
Loved it.
Interesting but predictable. Kind of drags in the middle. Ending was fast paced. I liked the book but could have been shorter
This certainly was an interesting story. Not your usual romantic line that you can figure out yourself in a couple of chapters.
Excellent! Wynne is found by the Duke in the English forest, fighting a thief trying to steal her paint brushes. After the Duke drives off the blackguard, Wynne offers him some of the squirrel she just trapped, skinned and cooked. Wynne is American, and has lost the memory of where she is and why she is there. In order to let her remember, Rowe (the Duke) takes her to the castle and installs her to paint a picture of the dowager duchess. The dowager is a vicious old woman who hates the Duke. The story is about Wynne finding her memory, Rowe finding his love and the duchess finding her humanity. Totally fascinating with many twists and turns. The final messages that Wynne sends with her paintings are life saving. I heartily recommend it. Some steamy scenes but good.
