#1 New York Times BestsellerIn 1989, Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. World Without End is its equally irresistible sequel—set two hundred years after The Pillars of the Earth and three hundred years after the … of the Earth and three hundred years after the Kingsbridge prequel, The Evening and the Morning.
World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroads of new ideas—about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human race—the Black Death.
Three years in the writing and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, World Without End is a “well-researched, beautifully detailed portrait of the late Middle Ages” (The Washington Post) that once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

Excellent
Exciting series. As I read, I felt like I was right there in the plot!
I loved this series of books. They are well written and the characters and stories are complex and entertaining. I learned a lot about the time period and totally enjoyed every page. I highly recommend Ken Follett.
I called it “Book without End” as it went on forever. Just be prepared. It was a good read, though.
I have read entire series and was so spellbound by everyone of them. Highly recommend.
The was amazing!
Part of a series.
After a 1000 pages, I did not want it to end, it’s so good
Great writing!
Loved it!!
This is in my top five, favorite, historical fiction books. Incredible characters are woven into an unforgettable story of the making of a cathedral. I couldn’t put this book down.
Repeated too much story line from his previous work Pillars of the Earth
The second book of the Kingsbridge Series, continues where Pillars of the Earth left off. Like Pillars, its not a page-turner or easy to read, but a good story.
So well written. The whole series is impossible to put down.
Good story teller
Not great literature
Engrossing
Usually love Ken Follet books. Pillars of the Earth is one of my top 5 ever. World Without End skews the facts a bit and doesn’t develop the characters as well. Good read, but not great.
One of the best books I’ve read.
A must read for historical fiction fans!
Ken Follet at his best creating a word that will fascinate you and have you deeply involved with it’s characters
Loved this book. Love Ken Follets series on how the village of Kingsbridge developed. A very good insight to how western civilization developed in western Europe.
Absolutely an epic story. So interesting and well written of a man’s quest to build a cathedral in England .Spans a lifetime. Wonderful!
