#1 New York Times BestsellerIn 1989, Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. World Without End is its equally irresistible sequel—set two hundred years after The Pillars of the Earth and three hundred years after the … of the Earth and three hundred years after the Kingsbridge prequel, The Evening and the Morning.
World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroads of new ideas—about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human race—the Black Death.
Three years in the writing and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, World Without End is a “well-researched, beautifully detailed portrait of the late Middle Ages” (The Washington Post) that once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

Absolutely wonderful! I really enjoy Ken Follet, his characters are amazing and he has a way of pulling us into the story.
Folletts constant need to repeat himself drives me nuts. His books could be one quarter shorter without the repetition.
One of my favorite authors
i am reading this now and really enjoying it
A very well told tale of peasants and aristocrats in the 1300s.
Left me thinking of the people and the place.
Ken Follett at his best…
Excellent Read…..One Of The Best Ever. I’ve read the entire series & enjoyed them all.
I felt like I lived there in the times and I often think of the characters as people I once knew….and wonder how they’re getting on now.
Outstanding book!
This is a historical novel written with great depth. Characters are well developed and the narrative paints a picture quite close to what be believe medieval times were like. The dominance of the Church is a constant and the characters are developed in this environment. Written with skill and authority, this novel will hold your attention.
Loved this whole series
Quite frankly, this book and Pillars of the Earth rank high on my list of best books ever. Every time I now visit cathedrals in Europe, i appreciate more and more what it took to build them.
This is part of the trilogy which began with “Pillars of the Earth”. These are absolutely wonderful books! I learned so much about life during these periods. This book follows “Pillars”and is set 100 years later with the same town and the same families. This book is said to be very accurate historically. I certainly recommend this outstanding book!
I loved this trilogy. I have recommended it to all my friends.
Long and very satisfying!
I enjoy historical novels that transport you back in time.
Not as good as Pillars of the Earth but ties in nicely.
Always a good read if by Follett!
Great book
