#1 New York Times BestsellerIn 1989, Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. World Without End is its equally irresistible sequel—set two hundred years after The Pillars of the Earth and three hundred years after the … of the Earth and three hundred years after the Kingsbridge prequel, The Evening and the Morning.
World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroads of new ideas—about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human race—the Black Death.
Three years in the writing and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, World Without End is a “well-researched, beautifully detailed portrait of the late Middle Ages” (The Washington Post) that once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

As good as his fabulous others. Our modern Michener.
Not as good as Pillars, somewhat disappointing.
Terrific and true to the historical time period.
Ken Follet is a master story teller, with authentic characters mixed in with actual events and places. This is a history lesson with some fascinating characters thrown in for extra. This is part of a 3 book trilogy that is a must read.
Have read two of the trilogy. My favorite books in years. Historical fiction at its best!
Took awhile to finish but what a great book!!!!
Awesome!
A great story that includes lots of history.
This series is incredible. Couldn’t put it down, although, it seems daunting at first.
Learned a lot! And nicely written.
Another great book by Ken Follet
Lots of characters, some a bit stereotypical, but all loose ends neatly tied at the end.
Very interesting historical perspective. Loved every minute
Though I read this book a few years ago, I thought that this was a brilliant, outstanding book. Characters well defined, progressed you through many years & many different plots.. Would highly recommend this book as well as all the books written by Ken Follett…
Fictional but by a seasoned author who knows how to write fiction and non-fiction and strike a good balance. The work is monumental.
Love most anything from Ken Follett, but this was such a good read. I’ve read it twice now!
Boring book. Couldn’t get into it and finally gave up. A waste of money.
This, and its predecessor Pillars of the Earth, are two of the most amazing books I’ve ever read. They are definitely up there at the very top of my favorites list.
This book is on my 10 best books I have ever read list. Great writing, interesting story lines.
Terrific sequel to one of my favorites – Pillars of the Earth.
