#1 New York Times BestsellerIn 1989, Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. World Without End is its equally irresistible sequel—set two hundred years after The Pillars of the Earth and three hundred years after the … of the Earth and three hundred years after the Kingsbridge prequel, The Evening and the Morning.
World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroads of new ideas—about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human race—the Black Death.
Three years in the writing and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, World Without End is a “well-researched, beautifully detailed portrait of the late Middle Ages” (The Washington Post) that once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

One of the best. I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to get third in series
I’m ready for the third book!!
Loved the book. Ken Follett never disappoints.
Ken Follett is a master at historical fiction. Again history comes alive in this follow-up to Pillars of the Earth. But like many sequels, I don’t think it quite measures up to the first book. However, I still recommend it.
Very engaging and from an engineering perspective very informative. Given the length of the book it is a testimony to the author that he is so engaging that the pages fly. Learned a lot and gained insights into early structural design and mechanical aids.
Like the historical perspective even if it is skewed by the authors own
beliefs, good way to get an understanding of life in those times.
Loved the history & wonderful character development
Ken Follett has again written a wonderful book. Packed full of wonderful characters that you really care about. Could not put the book down. Can’t wait for her new book.
I immediately read book 1 in the series and am impatient for book 3.
One of the best historical fiction books I’ve read. Well researched and well written.
There is nothing I enjoy more than a historical novel; better yet, let it be one of Ken Follets books, trilogies!!!! I have not read a book by this author that wasn’t wonderful and a page turner. Very well researched and lovingly written!!!!!
The whole series is worth reading
Read the whole series. Loved them all!
Excellent part of the trilogy. A monumental work by the author, all three books were excellent reading…..I think historically accurate, also!
Great Historical novel. loved it.
Ken Follet is a excellent story teller.
I was hooked on Ken Follett’s first in this medieval series, “Pillars of the Earth”! He is masterful at weaving together the characters of the church, nobility, merchants, & the poor and making you care about all of their stories. “World Without End” doesn’t disappoint and brings along the plague. The third in this trilogy, “Column of Fire” comes out September 2017. Can’t wait!
This series were fascinating!
Follet has created a piece of history around totally believable characters.
Wonderful, matched with Pillars of the Earth. Historically fascinating.
