#1 New York Times BestsellerIn 1989, Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. World Without End is its equally irresistible sequel—set two hundred years after The Pillars of the Earth and three hundred years after the … of the Earth and three hundred years after the Kingsbridge prequel, The Evening and the Morning.
World Without End takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of The Pillars of the Earth. The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroads of new ideas—about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human race—the Black Death.
Three years in the writing and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, World Without End is a “well-researched, beautifully detailed portrait of the late Middle Ages” (The Washington Post) that once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.

Kept my interest thru out
LOVE EVERYTHING THIS AUTHOR HAS WRITTEN.
Awesome author; well- researched and wonderful characters
Really must read in order
A couple of scenes were almost word for word of some from Pillars of The Earth, its prequel by 200 or 300 years.
I loved this book. It is the second in Follett’s Pillars of The Earth series and I read it out of order, but it is fully a stand-alone story. It takes place in fourteenth century England and the Church (pre-reformation) is in complete and corrupt control of society. It tells the story of the people of Kingsbridge as their lives are devastated by the black plague. I will be reading the first (Pillars of the Earth) the third (A Column of Fire) installments of this series
A little predictable. I felt some characters were mirror copies from Pillars.
Great historical ead
Love a good thick book with great characters
This is a sequel to “Pillars of the Earth” and the two books are two of my all-time favorite books. “World Without End” continues the story of the building of the Cathedral and the characters involved with it. Both books are long, but when you finish, you wish there was more. Highly recommend.
I loved Pillars of the Earth, so looked forward to this one. I did enjoy parts of it, but it should be renamed “Book Without End”. This story could have been told in half the pages, in my opinion. Just as the story seemed to come to logical conclusion, another twist occurred causing another 50 pages. Once or twice, this is entertaining, but it happened again and again. Too much for me.
Great
Could not put it down. One of my all time favorite reads.
Loved it!
Great learned a lot of history as well as a good fictional story
