Here’s the problem: when Rox was hired, she told her smoking-hot boss Cash that she was married, but she’s not. Now, three years later, she’s kind of accidentally living with him, and he’s being a perfect gentleman, dang it.
Everybody in the office said that Cash was a heartbreaker, that he’d bump her and dump her, so Rox decided not to become a statistic. She went out and bought herself some … went out and bought herself some rings of the finest cubic zirconia so that she could work with Cash, who was several inches over six feet tall, emerald-eyed, ripped, gorgeous, his tailored suit clinging to his athletic body, sporting a British accent, and loaded.
It had seemed like such a good idea at the time.
But now, three years later, she and Cash have become friends. They travel together for work often, and they’re the best of buddies. When Rox gets thrown out of her apartment, Cash insists that she come live with him until they can find her a place because that’s what friends do.
Now, even though everyone insists that Cash never goes after married women, something about him has changed. There are little touches, little slips, and Rox is more and more tempted to tell hunky, gorgeous Cash that she never was married.
And then he’ll take her and break her, and then he’ll walk away, and then she’ll lose her job, and she still hasn’t found a place to live.
And yet, every time he looks at her with mischief in his dark green eyes, every time they’re teasing and it somehow turns into tickling, every time she swats at him and somehow ends up in his arms, she wants so much to risk everything.
What’s a working stiff to do when she falls in love with her friend, the boss?

Cash/Rox’s story is only 1 HEA volume which I inhaled! This love story builds slowly but we get both sides and plenty of action so it doesn’t seem long drawn out. Then we get into the danger and passion and the hero’s surprise background and I’m on the edge of my seat and can’t put it down. I’m a huge fan of this author even though I missed the order of Blair Babylon’s books having read and loved Arthur/Gen’s, Wulf/Rae’s, and Xan/Georgie’s series, twice. The intertwining of the characters makes me feel like I know a secret when they show up in each other’s stories.

Fun story with a secret billionaire prince in hiding out in Los Angeles. Definitely twisty and unexpected turns throughout the story that follows paralegal Roxanne Neil and her boss Casimir van Amsberg. The curvy paralegal doesn’t want to become just another girl that Cash ghosts. With potentially ethical conflicts and hidden agendas arising and a growing attraction while in close quarters, the surprises in their journey just keep coming.
As entertainment attorney Cash has slept his way through the office pool of secretaries, admins and partners in the 3 years Rox has worked for him. She uses fake husband to protect her heart. After an unexpected eviction forcing Rox and her three challenged cats to be homeless, Cash sweeps in to help a friend. Can Rox continue to be immune to Cash’s charms while living with him now? Can they both get to the bottom of contract issues for their clients? Can Cash keep Rox safe?
This is book one in Rox and Casimir’s story. I loved this couple so much!Casimir is a lawyer and Rox is his paralegal. Rox started working for him several years ago and in order to do that and save her heart from the guy who ghosts his lovers, she said she was married. The close quarters they work in has them developing feelings for years and things happen that brings everything to a boiling point. Other things are at play, work trouble, dynastic problems, and trust issues. These two have their work cut out for them, but it is an amazing ride. Awesome writing, witty dialogue, and awesome characters.
A fun romance until the explicit sex scenes begin. Unnecessary.
This is the first book in the Runaway Billionaires Series, a Romantic Suspense. Cash and Rox’s story is funny, sexy, and suspenseful. The storyline is action packed, filled with twists and turns. I enjoyed it! Joe Arden did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to Stiff Drink, the next book in the Series.
Likeable characters. I really enjoyed the sizzle between Rox and Cash and also like the secondary characters Arthur and Maxence.
There are so many things I love about this story. First off I listened to this on audio. Joe Arden was amazing to listen to! I love his normal voice but his accents in here were eargasm worthy! Second I love how this story took me on a ride. I never knew what was happening next. Thrilling! Thirdly the names of these characters??? I have never heard some of them before. Casimir and Maxence? I LOVE those!
I don’t want to say much about the story because the blurb gives a sample of it and that is only the beginning. This takes many twists and turns that easily kept me wanting more. The characters are portrayed very vividly in the writing. I can picture them in my mind and hold them close to my heart.
I highly recommend and will be keeping this on my favorites shelf. I mean how could i ever get tired of listening to these BRITISH and Southern accents?
Audio Review: Working Stiff (Runaway Billionaires #1) by: Blair Babylon (author) Joe Arden (narrator)
Babylon had me at hello. Working Stiff refuses to tiptoe around the heart. Rox and Cash stand firm in their passion and drag emotions along for the ride. There is no halfway when it comes to Blair Babylon. Her characters are a force of nature that demand to be noticed. Add in a voice like Joe Arden and there is no doubt that is going to happen. Arden brings a gentlemanly, class to a bad boy with an edge. Be still my beating heart. Babylon and company will steal the heart right out of your chest and leave you wanting more.
5 star Review Working Stiff (Runaway Billionaires #1) by Blair Babylon
AUDIO REVIEW:
Blair Babylon is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is although I have listened to several books by the narrator Joe Arden.
Working Stiff is a hot, steamy and spicy book which I listened to in two sessions. I was totally invested in the story and had a hard time putting it away.
Cash is certainly swoon worthy and I loved the friendship between him and Rox. There is only one type of woman he will not touch and that is a married one.
Having heard the rumours of his love them and leave them attitude, Rox decides to put up a barrier between them by pretending to be married. As his para-legal she has seen the number of women Cash has gone through.
I enjoyed Joe Arden’s narration which was entertaining as he used a variety of voices which were distinctive for each character. He really added another layer to my listening pleasure.
Complications arise when Rox suddenly finds herself in need of a place to stay and Cash offers up his home.
Temptation will test both Cash and Rox’s resolve and it certainly led to some fun times. This book was well written, witty, romantic, suspenseful as well as intriguing and all in all a great book to listen to.
Although my first book by Blair Babylon it will by no means be my last.
Brilliant Story & Audible Listen Captivating & Hot
Working Stiff
Runaway Billionaires, Book 1
By: Blair Babylon
Narrated by: Joe Arden
I loved everything about this book, from Blair Babylon’s wonderful writing style to the storylines and characters she created to Joe Arden’s fabulous narration. There is a lot of story in this book, it is well written and plotted and completely engrossing. Do not let the length of the book scare you off, it goes by very quickly. The characters are complex and well developed, I adored Rox right from the start, she is likable with a great disposition and is easy to relate to. Cash, her smoking hot boss is a player and serial dater who has a reputation with the women in the office, as a love them and leave them type of guy. Rox did not want to fall in that category so she pretended to be married. She has built a good rapport with Cash, they became friends and they work well together. When he finds out she got evicted from her apartment he told her to stay with him. The two become even closer and Cash does not cross the line with married woman he find he is attracted to Rox, Rox is attracted to him but knows he only winds up dumping his woman and is afraid he will break her heart. I loved the chemistry between these two also loved how everything plays out in this book, the drama, angst, action, the great twists and surprises, the mystery and thrilling suspense, the heartfelt moments and the slow burn friends to lovers romance as well as the smoking hot sexy times. Also loved how the author kept me on my toes and had me wondering about a few things. It was great to find out more about Cash, it was great meeting his two friends and then family too. Blair Babylon, thank you for the amazing story, I hope the rest of the series comes out on Audible soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Joe Arden is an amazing narrator and voice artist. He performs the voices of all the characters, giving each their own unique sound and personality. He does a great job with the different accents too. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he projects the characters emotions and passion into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen
Being Dutch I recognizes a lot of the names of our Royal family. Blair Babylon really did her research but did not copy exactly the current family line. I read the book some time ago and I have other books of this series and this writer on my TBR-list.
This is my first book by this author but definitely not the last. Casimir (Cash) is a LA lawyer who is really a Dutch prince but no one knows it and he is notoriously the man who sleeps with all the women and then ghosts them but there are no hurt feelings (go figure). Rox is his paralegal and she is warned on her first day about him and she immediately sets herself up as the “married” coworker so he will not hit on her and she will always be the one to be able to work with him. Little does she know but he has been crushing on her for three years even though she is “married” and when she unexpectedly becomes homeless due to her cats he insists she come stay with him. After a car accident, which she witnesses, she turns into his nurse and protector. Let me say, these two are special and working together and developing not only a friendship but solid feelings before moving on them worked for them. We are left with the mystery of who was trying to kill Casimir but no worries I thoroughly enjoyed this one and recommend it.
Loved this book and this series. Can’t wait for the next one!
Anything by this author will make you want the next book so bad that you don’t even stop to review, just want to keep going. I love how althe books entertwine! It’s like one big engrossing story.
Entertaining and sweet. Great characters and storyline. Though at times it seems they are better as friends and the relationship is forced. The ending feels a bit rushed. But a good story.
Roxanne Neil (Rox) has been working as a paralegal for Casimir Friso van Amsberg (Cash) for three years without incident. And she prides herself on being the only female paralegal who can work in close proximity with him and not end up in his bed. Of course, being nothing like the handsome sexy women Cash goes for, a little on the heavy, voluptuous side, has helped, along with the rings she bought after her first day in the office, which she wears prominently on her left hand so everyone believes she is married. Cash does not hit on or sleep with married women. And though he can be a bit flirtatious with her, she’s never worried about anything more. Besides, she has her own hangups concerning relationships and the use of the “L” word.
Cash is a good attorney who works hard and isn’t afraid to travel to get what he wants to win a contract. He takes Rox with him because he knows she’s married, and there’s no chance of him crossing that line. What she doesn’t know and what he fights is the fact that he carries a torch for her and has since the first day he saw her in the office three years earlier. But, his life is…complicated. He has more secrets than anyone he works with knows. Painful secrets from as far back as his childhood.
But when the two of them discover some odd discrepancies in some of the contracts while one of the senior partners is out on medical leave, things begin to take an odd turn. When a series of events throws them together for an extended length of time, feelings are tested and boundaries pushed. Will the work they have been doing together put them in more danger than either of them knew might happen? And what happens when they spend more time together, talking and getting to know each other? Will his secrets scare her off? And how will he react if he finds out she isn’t really married?
This was such a wonderful and exciting diversion in the author’s Billionaires series’. The main characters were friends and coworkers for a substantial amount of time, so their friendship was important to both of them throughout the situations with which they were faced. Each of the characters had their own underlying vulnerabilities that factored into the difficult positions they found themselves in. The author becomes more brave in her use of sexual vocabulary and soft BDSM in this first in the Runaway Billionaires series which adds another layer to the situational hurdles the couple had to conquer, and I like how fearless she is becoming in her writing. Rox is a strong, independent woman and Cash takes his work seriously but has a funny side. There were moments I laughed out loud at their banter and moments I had to fight back tears. Then, there were the moments I laughed through the tears. I just loved it from beginning to end. And I look forward to seeing what her plans are for the rest of this Billionaire rat pack.
Another fabulous read by author Blair Babylon!! In contrast to her previous works, the plot of “Working Stiff” is a slightly more “sweet” read in comparison to the author’s previously released “slightly more dark and twisty” novels. In saying this though, I am not implying in the least that this book is lacking in any way. It’s not! All of her characters come to life through vivid expression of their hopes and fears. The sex scenes are raw and edgy, dripping with angst for what both Casimir (Cash) and Rox hope will one day exist between them, but at the time currently remains unsaid. From the moment I started to read this book, I simply could not put it down!
The plot of this book progresses a lot like the “edging” that Cash and Rox engaged in while visiting the Devilhouse. A slow, halting telling.. twisting in direction just at the moment the reader starts to feel release that they know exactly where the storyline is headed. The author is brilliant at changing up the plot so that as a reader, you are left wondering where exactly the story is heading. There is never anything predictable about Blair Babylon’s novels and this book lives up to this expectation! The author created not only the main characters Cash and Rox, but also the supporting characters (namely Maxence and Authur) so that they contain many fascinating and diverse layers. Just a hint of backstory was provided to leave the reader primed and eager to read future installments in the “Billionaires in Disguise”/”Runaway Billionaires” series telling Authur and Maxence’s stories. I looking forward to seeing how their stories unfold…
This book is a standalone novel which does not contain a cliffhanger.
Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review Working Stiff is another great read by Blair Babylon . It’s a mix of steamy romance, with suspense, action, and mystery, blended with emotions and humor. She has a great way of developing her characters getting you to want to know more about them and wanting to see them win. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. Will read it again, I’m sure.
I have read quite a few books by this author and I am going to say I think this one is my favorite so far. One thing I love is we hear of others from previous series, which I always love when an author does that.
In this story, we have Casimir aka Cash. Cash lives in California and he is a lawyer in a firm who deals with high players. Rox is his personal assistant and unlike all the other women who work there, she has no pull on Cash or at least she does not realize she does. Cas has always had feelings for Rox but she has a wedding band on so has been off limits. After some major thing happens, Rox ends up staying with Cas and well many things take place for these two. Of which includes a trip to Cas’ real home and a visit with his family. Rox learns many things that no one else knows about. What will happen for this couple? Well grab a copy and get reading it is good.
The story, the plot, the couple and others make this book worth reading.
