Sometimes a surprise baby can lead to unexpected happy endings.***It started one night in Vegas over a naughty cocktail and dirty banter. Eight months of bedded bliss later, Gilly Nelson says the two words Ezra Baker never saw coming:“I’m pregnant.”Twice-divorced Ezra has always acted first, thought it through later. Except in Gilly he finds an equal; a strong-willed, independent woman who … strong-willed, independent woman who doesn’t need his money or kind heart to get ahead. She just wants him.
Career-focused Gilly never imagined she’d be thirty-five, single and pregnant. Except when Ezra suggests they date rather than just mate, she finds herself wondering whether the man she’s been looking for has been in her bed all along.
If they can survive raging hormones, house renovations, and the realities of childbirth, surely creating a family will be a walk in the park…right?

Working For It is a full-length surprise baby standalone novel that is also the fifth and final book in the bestselling Cook Brothers house flipping rom com series.

This was such a cute read. I really enjoyed it. I love the chemistry between Ezra and Gilly. There were parts that made me laugh out loud and look crazy but I totally enjoyed it.
This is my first book of this author’s, and admittedly I was a bit overwhelmed meeting with so many characters at the beginning of the story. (And I honestly couldn’t say I figured out who was with who at the end of the story since there were fantastic five in the Cook brothers series.) But I found the dialogue hilarious, the characters adorable. It was a great new-parent romance.

I loved Gilly and Ezra’s story a surprise pregnancy friend to lovers story. I loved all of the Cook Brothers characters but these two were special. Ezra had been two failed marriages and wasn’t looking for a third. Gilly was too focused on her career and trying to please her parents she didn’t have time for a relationship or family of her own. The unplanned baby changed everything. I really enjoyed the way they came together to become a couple, not just lovers. This book is hot and steamy, witty, and lots of love with a big extended family. Amazing!!
I was absolutely hooked from the start until the last word.
Great plot that had action and some light hearted parts to it.
The chemistry was good between the characters.
All round it was a fill good read that let you forget all your
problem for a while.
I highly recommend this book.
Ezra and Gillian sure do know how to announce she is pregnant and that just the start of things, they have done everything backwards and now Ezra realises he wants more than just a regular hook up with Gilly and it’s not just because she is carrying his child. The fact you don’t have to have read the other books in the series is great but it does also make you want to read them and meet all the Cook brothers! This is a great read that gives you plenty of laughs as Gilly and Ezra go through plenty of awkward moments, hormonal changes, learning to take a chance, falling in love and seeing what having amazing and funny friends and family can be like. So now I am off to read the other books and love knowing the whole series is out so I can binge read!!! lol

This was an absolutely beautiful story. The characters personalities shined through. The emotional aspect of the story and the strong family bond was fantastic. The storyline was spot on. The ending was absolutely perfect.

Enjoyed this wonderful sexy romance with Gilly and Ezra who have mutual family/friends. They started a eight month “friends with benefits” friendship but when she gets a positive pregnancy test things get complicated fast. Twice divorced Ez immediately proposes marriage and she being the successful lawyer that she is walks out.
Ez knows he has messed up and with two divorces behind him does not want to make a mess of the situation with Gilly so he decides he wants to date her and try to see if they can make a real relationship work.
This is book 5 of a series. I enjoyed the story, it was a quick read but so many other characters from the series made appearances that I felt I was out of the loop and missed over half of the movie. That said, characters were well developed, story and conversations flowed well. I felt there was little conflict overall except between our girl and her parents and that storyline could have had a bit more epilogue to conclude. I definitely would give the author another try but make sure I was not jumping into the middle of the movie, again.

I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.
Loved the dynamics!
What a fabulous book! I loved the chemistry between Ezra and Gillian, and especially the family dynamics. What a great conclusion to this series. Ten out of ten would recommend.
“Working For It by B.J. Harvey was funny and lovely. It had been a while since a rom-com story had me rolling over my bed laughing. Ezra and Gilly’s story was pure bliss. I forgot how funny dating can be! It has his ups and & down but funny anyway. Pregnancy is something to be scare off! The hormonal changes Gilly went through and how she managed it was impressive. Ezra was pure perfection! Lovely how he venture himself on parenthood! After twice divorced trusting isn’t quite his best but Gilly was always there for him and only him. The Cook Brothers are now gone and it’s so sad but I’m so happy with Ezra’s story. I highly highly recommend it.”
I’m not sure I’ve read all of the series, but it did not take away that I didn’t . The story was a wonderful romantic comedy. I really like friends to lover story and I feel this one took even them by surprise. The characters were very likeable and I especially loved Ezra and Gilly who the story was about. Even the other characters were fun to read about. I’m going to go back and read the rest of the series.

This was a fun, entertaining story. I loved Ezra’s drive to be the right person for Gillian. He was so sweet and caring. Gillian was a strong woman, willing to do things on her own, but also very willing to try a relationship with Ezra. They were hot together, and I loved the interactions with all the characters from the previous books, which one does not need to read in order. I still recommend reading them, as this was an engaging series, as well as this book.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Ezra was one of my favourite Cook “brothers” since he was introduced to us. What we learn about him straight from the beginning: Ez, the charming guy, who falls fast but with 2 failed marriages. And I always wandered what’s “his deal”. He seemed like the perfected package: hot charming architect and the banter with Jamie and the Cook clan was always fun & entertaining. And now we know why: he needed Gilly in his life. And even when she was right in his bed he needed a pregnancy to realise they are meant for each other. But oh, when he does, she’s everything to him and then some.
Now, our heroine: Gilly. I couldn’t understand how she’s Barbie’s sister. Being a lawyer working for their awful father I projected her in my mind a bit uptight. But with this book we see what an amazing, sexy & mature person she is. She’s just that woman who knows her worth without needing a man by her side but when he comes along she’s the best version of herself. They just fit and I fricking loved them. What an epic story to end this lovely series <3
I was hooked into this story and couldn’t put it down. I loved Ezra’s story! I laughed and said aww several times while reading. I love him and Gilly together. I have loved reading this series!
Ezra is the best Cook brother from another mother
I don’t know but I think Ezra the unofficial Cook brother beat out the original Cooks. He is honestly the perfect man and any pregnant woman who doesn’t have a man like this is truly missing out.
I know that Axel is still young but I do hope one day we go back and get him and his cousins cause that generation is gonna be TROUBLE.
This one wasn’t my favorite. I loved Ezra but I couldn’t get into Gilly. She annoyed me. I honestly didn’t feel a real connection with her. I felt that she was 35 and she should have acted like a 35 year old. She was a little childish to me. Oh Ezra you melted my heart. Swoon worthy. He is the reason for this being 4. Him and the cook brothers made the book. I hate that I couldn’t like Gilly. I was looking forward to this book and was a little disappointed in the heroine. I need more of the cook brothers in my life. Loved them.
Okay that was brilliant!!!
What a finish to the series!!
Another super witty and fun installment of the Cook brothers.
I loved all the laugh out loud moments and incredibly swoon worthy scenes.
Ezra what a prize he’s been so interesting a character to watch through the series and he didn’t disappoint. I loved how much he wears his heart on his sleeve and always goes with the moment.
Gilly is super smart, mature and confident and quite calm considering.
As a couple they are wonderful I loved seeing their relationship develop through the story.
I really loved all the past characters and seriously Axel again I say needs his own show.
All up this was an incredible journey, funny and sweet. I cannot wait to see what’s next from BJ Harvey and it might be time for a re-read.
ARC received from author for an honest revew
Ezra is the man I have been waiting for. And his and Gilly’s story is all I could have hoped for.
This is the final book in the series, and even though it could be read as a standalone, you will miss a lot of the nuances of relationships of you don’t read the previous books.
Ezra and Gilly’s book begins with a bang and definitely does not go out with a whimper!
I knew that they would be amazing together, it was just a case of how their story would unfold.
Ez is definitely made of boyfriend material. I love the way he is all in, all the time. He has his woman’s back, would do anything for his family. He had me cheering big time.
I think this was the perfect ending to this series – though I wouldn’t say not to some novellas down the track.
Thank you Ms Harvey for giving us the Cooks.
