Ronnie Nelson likes to be chased.Jaxon Cook loves a challenge.Ronnie wants a man who pulls out all the stops.Jax doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants.Seems like a match made in heaven. Until an unexpected development—of the ‘call me Professor Cook’ variety—makes their attraction-and what they did last Saturday night-a lot more forbidden. Now, committing a work violation has become a forgone … a work violation has become a forgone conclusion and the chase just became a lot more complicated.
Lucky for Ronnie, Jax loves breaking the rules.
Lucky for Jax, Ronnie does too.

I’m sitting here with a huge smile on my face because Jax and Ronnie stoke my heart on this second installment of this series. I loved them both in the first book and seeing them get their HEA in a sweet and amazing way really has me happy. The author did such amazing job with the progression of their romance. It wasn’t too fast and it wasn’t too slow. It was them to the core and I loved it. I want to say so much about this book because not only am I in love with Jax and Ronnie but the whole Cook family and all the characters that take part. The banter between all the characters was something that had me looking crazy for because I laughed so hard many time. I can’t wait for the next book. 5 star #2OCCJD
We first meet Jax and Ronnie in Work in Progress. They’ve known each other for a year, but we don’t get to see any of that in this book, so there’s no build up. This made it difficult for me to connect. There should be sexual tension and I’m not feeling it. I did enjoy the banter between Jax and Ronnie. There is potential for drama, but it ends up being anticlimactic. Although I never connected, I did like all the characters. This was a light, humorous story.
WORK VIOLATION is Book 2 in the “Cook County” series but can be read as a stand-alone. I do think it would be a richer reading experience if you read Book 1 first. There are characters and story threads that flow into this story from book 1 which was just as fantastic.
Loved this story. It has all of the elements of a classic rom-com (which is totally my jam). “I know if I don’t kiss him, he’s going to continue to be a ‘huge what if.” The back and forth between the two main characters is witty and colorful and the dual POV is the perfect way for this story to be told.
This was a story I read it one sitting because I just didn’t want to put it down. I recommend this story, this series and this author.
The perfect sexy teacher romance. I loved the romcom twist to this naughty teacher genre. I have to admit I tend to not pickup those kind of books but this was an entirely new experience. I loved the plot and the writing was perfection. You can’t help but fall in love with this family. I can see so many books for this series in the future and I can’t wait to get my hands on them.
This was a solid enjoyable read. It’s a rom-com with a little drama thrown in and overall a nice easy read. I really loved Ronnie and Jax together. They have fab chemistry together and their banter is spot on and really made me chuckle throughout. I have to say that I am enjoying this series and look forward to the next Cook Brother to hit my kindle!
Ronnie wanted to live her life the way she wanted and that is what she was going to do. Jax was immediately drawn to Ronnie but didn’t want to act on it. Ronnie and Jax did this song and dance especially when he found out she was in his class. Will Ronnie and Jax have a chance after different issues arise?
I thought this book was a great read. I really enjoyed Jax and Ronnie’s characters. I loved how Ronnie was a spitfire and how Jax was strong but he was also a gentleman. I loving seeing how their relationship developed over time. Of course I loved the funny moments with Ax. He is just so cute!!!
Work Violation showcases BJ Harvey’s talent for writing the very best in rom-coms. Once more we are treated to a carefully-crafted love story featuring another of the handsome Cook brothers and the woman who fits perfectly in his heart and his life. Jax Cook is a professor by day and is part of the house-flipping team by night and weekends and his world is happily turned on its head by the feisty Ronnie Nelson, who finds her way into one of his classes. She being the bestie of his future sister-in-law sets the stage for some of the best banter I’ve ever read, usually contained within flirty texts that are both sharp and wildly sexy.
Although these two have danced around each other for the better part of a year, when they finally get down and dirty, they seriously made my e-reader smoke with each turn of the page. And yet, Harvey somehow can take the most passionate of scenes and turn it around quickly with a wicked kind of humor only she can deliver. Let’s just say that the elder Cooks often provide the comic relief along with the rest of this crazy yet very loving family, keeping this book light and full of pure joy.
Jax and Ronnie take their precarious situation as teacher and student seriously but find a way to make it all work without any ethical issues ensuing. It was fun to watch as they navigate through their professional part of their lives all the while they were falling hard and fast for the other. Theirs is an easy kind of romance to embrace and I loved every minute of this well-written story. Oh and the irresistible Axel again is the ultimate scene-stealer as his affection for Ronnie puts Jax on notice with adorable results.
A great addition to the Cook County series, you can’t get a better rom-com than what you find in Work Violation. BJ Harvey has clearly found her groove with her writing hitting a new level of excellence with each new book in this series. I look forward to twin brother Bryant’s book next and all the mayhem that will undoubtedly ensue when another Cook brother falls in love.
Really well done, I happily give Work Violation a solid 5 stars!
Another Cook brother down and is it just me or do these Cook brothers get hotter with each book! The story of Jax & Ronnie was a year in the making… and what a story it was! The two of them danced around each other & watched from afar until the pull was too strong… BJ has given us again another fabulous romcom with so many great characters and hilarious banter between all the side characters especially Jax’s mum & dad. You wont be disappointed in this series I believe that the best is yet to come as we meet the rest of the Cook’s!
You know you’re in for a great read when a BJ Harvey book lands on your kindle and you know you’re in for a fantastic story when you’re sucked in from the first line and there’s a steamy scene within the first 10%!
The queen of rom coms has given us book two in the County County series and is jam packed full of witty one liners, on point banter and an addictive storyline.
Jax and Ronnie were on fire and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this read. Amazing!!
I’m loving this series……
It’s just fun to dive into a book without all the drama and be able to laugh and just flip through the pages and enjoy a sexy fun read. And that’s what BJ Harvey is giving us with this series.
Jax and Ronnie’s story was fun, flirty and oh so sexy. The banter was so fun and the chemistry was off the charts. And the relationship Jax has with his family will have you laughing out loud.
I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.
What can I say about this book to explain how much I loved it?
I’ve already read it 3 times.
I’ve claimed Jax as my very own.
I would totally turn for Ronnie.
This book grabbed me from the very first page and I happily went along for the ride right to the very end.
It is laugh out loud funny, smokin’ hot and so swoony my heart could hardly take it.
The Cook County series keeps getting better with every brother that finds his true love.
Whelp, it’s obvious these Cook brothers are all going to just grab your heart and run with it. And Jax, well he has proven to be quite swoon worthy . He’s the whole package, sexy, charming, funny, and just filled with so much heart. He’s had his eye on Ronnie, April’s best friend, for a year, but didn’t do anything because he didn’t want to potentially “rock the boat”. Turns out, Ronnie, a vivacious, strong willed, intelligent woman who just decided to change her career & life, has her eye on Jax too. Needless to say, this leads to quite an interesting back and forth if you will, game on so to speak. But boy was it an awesome ride. I loved Jamie. I really loved Jaxon . Can’t wait to see what the next brother has in store for us!!!
I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review. Great addition to the series! I was so excited for Ronnie and Jax’s story after the first book and it didn’t disappoint. This series is great I love all the characters. The story line was good, romance/steaminess off the charts!!! Awesome read. I need me own Jax he was sweet, sexy and ticked all the boxes. Ronnie is strong, sassy, funny and smart!!! Great read!!
I have been hearing so much positive feedback about this Cook County series that I could not wait to get my greedy hands on Work Violation. When it landed on my kindle, I could not wipe the giant smile off my face if you paid me. I mean, seriously. BJ Harvey is mega talented and look at that gorgeous cover. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
Story Line: Jaxon Cook is one of the twin Cook brothers whom we meet in book 1 (All books in this series are stand alone, so you don’t have to read Work In Progress first, just fyi) Jax is a part time professor, as well as involved with his brothers and their construction business. Ronnie is April’s (book 1) best friend. She and Jax have met prior to this book, however, they don’t truly interact until now. And now? All bets are off. Work Violation is the perfect blend of humor, lust and just the right amount of heat. Ronnie and Jax bring us an amazing teacher/student trope, with a sprinkle of best friend’s friends vibes and a dash of rom com. Okay, more than a dash, but it sounded cuter that way. You will laugh at the way Jax and Ronnie interact with her other. You will fall in love with not only these two, but the Cook family as well. BJ has created a world so vivid, I wish I lived next to that big pink Barbie dream house. Yes, that’s right. There’s a barbie dream house in this book and trust me, you will love it as much as I did. Because that dream house is so much more than just another renovation project. It’s the beginning of Ronnie and Jax’s road to forever. And even though the road isn’t smooth sailing from start to finish, it’s exactly what these two love birds deserve.
Interaction: I think the conversations between Ronnie and Jax are some of the best I’ve ever read. A single conversation can hold so much value. And for our main characters, they don’t waste a single moment. Each time they talk, text, or are in the same vicinity as one another, they somehow manage to interact in the sweetest, sexiest and funniest ways. Their nicknames for one another had me rolling with laughter, but secretly loving the pet names hard core. The best thing about Ronnie and Jax is how well their lives mesh. There isn’t any awkwardness. There isn’t any misunderstandings. They just click. There is an underlying understanding between them that was both refreshing and realistic. Trust was huge and I give these two mad props for showing us what it’s like to be in a real adult relationship. No BS. Just real love.
Laundry: I’m not sure if I was expecting a rom com to make me laugh immediately following a laundry scene, but I did. And it was amazing. I was blushing crimson right along with Ronnie, yet adoring how this scene was set up and how it rolled out. What I truly wasn’t expecting was how long Jax was willing to chase Ronnie. I thought I would get antsy for the good stuff, but it worked so well with the story line that a little delayed gratification was zero problem at all for me. Because, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. And it is so good. So, so good.
Depth: Ronnie’s character has to be one of my favorite heroine rolls of all time. I related to her more than I can express in this review. Ronnie’s family is less than supportive of her career change/back to college path. They’re all about appearances and doing what is best for your family and not necessarily yourself. I felt this so deeply. But Ronnie is a fighter and she found her perfect match with Jax. Because he is willing to fight for her too. There is a particular scene that comes to mind regarding her family that I will forever adore Jax for. He showed us that real men will not only stand up for their women, but they will do so with respect and grace. Oh, and as for that drama that is inevitable with student/teacher romances? Amazing. I had an inkling that something would get thrown down, and I was not disappointed. Before y’all start freaking out that something tragic happens, just relax. Sit back, turn on Barbie Girl by Aqua and enjoy this fantastic romance read.
Work Violation is book two in the Cook Brothers series. I really liked it, it was a great read. Jax Cook was swoony, sexy and sweet. Ronnie was sweet and sassy. I loved Jax and Ronnie together. They had amazing chemistry and were just perfect for each other. Looking forward to reading more in this series!
I enjoyed book one in this series, Work In Progress, with Jamie Cook and eagerly looked forward to reading about his brother Jax. These Cook brothers are so dreamy but fun too.
I absolutely adored the fantastic humour in this story. At times I found it hard to catch my breath from laughing so hard. For example—“You don’t have an almost eight-year-old thinking his new house must be haunted because he heard moaning last night.” Axel steals the show again with his innocent brand of humour and absolute honesty.
Veronica Nelson is a strong, sassy and intelligent lead character who knows her own mind, something I admire. Jaxson is a talented photographer, supportive brother and caring man, even if he was slightly delusional to start. Together they have a chemistry that is so hot it’s off the charts but more a depth of caring that is strong and true. A special mention must go to Mr & Mrs Cook, they are terrific parents, I want to be them when I grow up.
I was thoroughly entertained by this beautiful love story and recommend it to everyone.
4.5 Cranky Stars
Veronica “Ronnie” Nelson gave up a lucrative career and took a chance on something she has always wanted to do. She is done with pleasing her parents and started taking courses for graphic arts with a side study of photography. Life is better than good but now how does she get Jaxon Cook in her bed? She knows he notices her and vice versa the girl is sending signals out loud and clear but Jax just finds excuses to run. Until one night at a party and liquor is flowing, they collide. This is the beginning of Jax and Ronnie. She never told him she was in his class so imagine his surprise. Ronnie always being one step ahead of everything, already filed a document with the college about their non fraternization policy claiming she was in a relationship with Jax and now it’s go time. She will use her wiles and her smart mouth to hook this handsome man.
Jaxon Cook has always noticed Ronnie. From the first day he caught her and April and Aprils ex mother in law sitting on their porch watching him and his brothers. When he learns that his older brother is pursuing April, he puts Ronnie on the back burner not wanting to cause problems. Things are going good in his life. He has an adjunct professor position at the same college as his twin Bryant, his photography career is taking off and he’s helping his brothers with their house flipping business. He keeps making excuses for dodging Ronnie but when Bryant lights a fire under his butt he makes the leap. He isn’t expecting her in his class, and he knows then and there that Ronnie is who he wants in his life. He goes after her slow and steady. He dates her and treats her like a gentleman everything is perfect.
I have loved Jaxon since the last book. He just seems like a fun guy to be around and well I wish I could be as ballsy as Ronnie yet she’s very vulnerable. They are a good match. This book isn’t just the sprint to the finish line of sex and falling in love there is a conniving little witch in his class. The sexy times are steamy and their dirty talk will make your kindle fog up. I just loved everything about Jax and Ronnie. That Vegas trip and the mess they made April wear was hilarious. I can’t wait for the next story while I’m excited for Bryant I think I want Cohens story the most. He is a mystery. I will be going to Amazon to track down more of BJ Harveys work.
I liked Ronnie right from the beginning when we were introduced to her in the first book. I knew she will be hard work for the guy who tempts to tame her in order to have her. And she didn’t disappoint! What makes me even happier is that she was meant for Jax. Actually the begging part where he’s avoiding her like crazy it’s quiet funny, coming from a guy who is used with the ladies’ attention. I wished we had a bit more of that. But once they give in to their desires the real chase begins because if there’s something Ronnie Nelson likes from a man is a good chasing. And to be fair with a man like Jax doing it I can’t really blame her. Lovely family with all the Cook brothers and their extended family that grows and grows from one book to another. Can’t wait to read the next one!
I absolutely love this story and Jaxon & Ronnie!! They are both such amazing characters and Ms. Harvey made it so easy to fall in love with them! Their chemistry is perfect! Jax is totally swoonworthy and Ronnie never stood a chance at winning “the chase” as they called it, not they she wanted to. After one night of passion, they agree to take things slow because of other circumstances that soon come to light. Ronnie is finally doing what she wants to do with her career and life m, including seeing Jax. I love that she doesn’t let her family drag her down and I love how Jax stands up to them. Jaxon’s family is great and so supportive while also providing tons of comic relief! I can’t wait for more of their stories! Ronnie and Jax know at the end of this there is only one acceptable outcome. I love how their relationship develops with it’s slow burn because their ability to fall in love relied more on getting to know each other and spending time together. But once they finally do take that final step together, there are fireworks!! This is such a fun, sweet, funny, sexy and steamy story that will definitely keep you wanting more from Cook County especially after the teaser chapter for Bryant’s book!
5 star Review Work Violation (Cook County #2) by B.J. Harvey
The second book in B.J. Harvey’s latest series was just as good as the first one and if you haven’t had a chance to read Work In Progress do yourselves a favour and one click that one then do the same for Work Violation.
I loved Ronnie and Jax when they were introduced in the first book, and all this book has done has made me fall even more in love with the Cook family. This series is a great example at RomCom writing at it’s finest; there is nothing that I did not enjoy about this book. From the first to the last page I was all in with Jax and Ronnie.
Ronnie has fought against her families smothering and is now pursuing the career of her dreams, leaving behind her life as a high powered lawyer. For Jax, he has js become part of the renovations team led by his brother Jamie, whilst teaching some courses.
When Ronnie and Jax first met, the sparks were immediate and yet they have both done their best over the last 12 months to avoid each other and keep their desires under control. All that changes at Jamie and April’s engagement party and what transpires was such an entertaining read that I couldn’t put it down
Work Violation is a laugh out loud romantic comedy with lots of heart and family who love and support one another and those they love with every part of their being. It made me feel good book and I could not wipe the smile off my face whilst reading. Not only was it romantic but the steaminess at times was smoking hot.
What a fabulous book and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
