Baseball player. Single dad. Hot mess. No woman has ever tamed him… until now.Everyone knows Ryan Riggs—everyone who follows minor league baseball, that is. He’s the player with the hair-trigger temper, the bad shoulder, and the smoking hot looks. He’s also a single dad in need of a nanny—which makes him my new boss.Simple. Except for one thing: We had a one-night stand five years ago. We’re … one-night stand five years ago.
We’re trying to be professional. But it was one of the best nights of my life, and the more I work with him, the more I’m thinking about a repeat.
He’s battling his demons, and I might be the only one who can help him win.
He’s impossible.
He’s unforgettable.
He’s unwinnable.
Looks like I have my work cut out for me.

These Riggs boys keep getting sexier and sexier. This is Ryan and Kate’s story. Ryan is the Bad Boy of Baseball and Kate is kind of lost on what she wants to do. Her cousin gets her a job being Ryan’s nanny. When they see each other, they both remember a night five years ago they had together. Ryan wants Kate, but is trying to keep his distance from her. The attraction towards each other is just as strong as five years ago. Ryan is going through a hard time with an injury and Kate is trying to figure out what she really wants to do. This is a great story of second chances. They end up crossing the professional line. Will they have a relationship or will other things come in the way? I loved Kate’s connection she had with Dylan. He is such a smart, little boy. With romance, there comes some drama. I love the youngest Riggs brother and can’t wait for Dex’s story.
The Riggs brothers just continue to get sexier and sexier
I’m finding fewer and fewer contemporary romances that hold my attention. I seem to be drifting back to my first love of all things sci-fi or fantasy, along with a not-so-secret addiction to dark reads. However I’ve enjoyed this author’s work before and, having read about Ryan in the previous two books of the series, was curious to know his story.
I thought I might have to force myself to get through this book, I was happily very mistaken. I loved Ryan and Kate’s story of two lost souls struggling to find their way. This is quite a slow-burn romance, with the relationship developing over a believable time period. I totally bought into their connection and the chemistry they had.
Work Me Up is really well written, the plot is kept fairly simple, allowing the author to concentrate on word building and developing complex and real characters. I felt the emotion in this story, my heart ached for Ryan and Kate and rejoiced in their love. There is passion, angst and conflict but not an unnecessary or annoying amount, just enough to add depth to the story.
I fell in love with Luke, cheated on him with Jace but have dumped both of them for Ryan (and the ever gorgeous Dylan). I’m just wondering if Dex will blow them all out of the water, I can’t wait for his story as I know it will be special.
If you’ve not read a Julie Kriss book before then I can honestly tell you that you’re missing out. Whilst this can be read as a stand alone I do think you’d enjoy it more if you read all 3 books in order. And I do highly recommend not just this but all the books in the series.
