Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive sequence began in 2010 with the New York Times bestseller The Way of Kings. Now, the eagerly anticipated Words of Radiance continues the epic story and answers many of your questions.Six years ago, the Assassin in White, a hireling of the inscrutable Parshendi, assassinated the Alethi king on the very night a treaty between men and Parshendi was being … between men and Parshendi was being celebrated. So began the Vengeance Pact among the highprinces of Alethkar and the War of Reckoning against the Parshendi.
Now the Assassin is active again, murdering rulers all over the world of Roshar, using his baffling powers to thwart every bodyguard and elude all pursuers. Among his prime targets is Highprince Dalinar, widely considered the power behind the Alethi throne. His leading role in the war would seem reason enough, but the Assassin’s master has much deeper motives.
Expected by his enemies to die the miserable death of a military slave, Kaladin survived to be given command of the royal bodyguards, a controversial first for a low-status “darkeyes.” Now he must protect the king and Dalinar from every common peril as well as the distinctly uncommon threat of the Assassin, all while secretly struggling to master remarkable new powers that are somehow linked to his honorspren, Syl.
Brilliant but troubled Shallan strives along a parallel path. Despite being broken in ways she refuses to acknowledge, she bears a terrible burden: to somehow prevent the return of the legendary Voidbringers and the civilization-ending Desolation that will follow. The secrets she needs can be found at the Shattered Plains, but just arriving there proves more difficult than she could have imagined.
Meanwhile, at the heart of the Shattered Plains, the Parshendi are making an epochal decision. Hard pressed by years of Alethi attacks, their numbers ever shrinking, they are convinced by their war leader, Eshonai, to risk everything on a desperate gamble with the very supernatural forces they once fled. The possible consequences for Parshendi and humans alike, indeed, for Roshar itself, are as dangerous as they are incalculable.

Easily the worst book in the series. The Way of Kings is the greatest fantasy book in the last 10 years. The sequel was a huge letdown. And this is just a slog. I’m heartbroken.
since he finished the wheel of time series i have been reading his books .the top in his genre .
One of the best series I have read, and I have read hundreds
Excellent sequel to The Way of Kings. Sanderson’s thorough world building and attention to every character arc is a joy. In an age when so many stories are built only to grab your attention and drag you along for as long as they can, Sanderson has mastered the payoff. He makes you glad for the time you invest in his stories, not just by hooking …
This book picks up where The Way of Kings ended without any hesitation. There is no way to read this without having read the first book. The action begins to up as the action turns to the Shattered Plains. Kaladin has new responsibilities and new abilities. Dalinar and his son dabble in politics in an attempt to get the highprinces to unite …
Words of Radiance takes everything from the Way of Kings and expands on the world, the characters, the themes, all of it. Never once did I hit a section where I thought, meh. Add to it the fact that the protagonists have real issues that will strike home with those of us with mental health problems.
Wow, Sanderson does it again! One of my new favorite authors!
Stormlight archive is an amazing series. I promise you will love it
It’s an epic, but it could’ve been cut down by a few hundred pages. It’s an imagination supernova, but in the end, the story is not quite as spectacular as everyone has been raving about and relies on a shitload of convenient special powers. This took too many months to finish.
This is the same review that I gave “Way of Kings”.
I thought Sanderson did a great Job completing the WoT series for Robert Jordan. I have read the first two books in the Stormlight Archive series and have been “The Way of Kings” and “Words of Radiance” and thought they were both extremely good. Anyone interested in epic fantasy stories like …
Wow. Incredible.
Sanderson’s best book!
