Journalist Brooke Castle is broke, jobless, and pushing the big 30. Determined to turn her life around in the new year, she escapes to a remote mountain cabin for a self-improvement retreat. But her plans of quiet solitude are shattered when a booking error forces her to share the cabin with sexy – and grumpy – bookstore owner Sam Donovan.Though Brooke has always been rather fascinated by Sam, … rather fascinated by Sam, he’s bad-tempered and has a past shrouded in mystery. When a sudden snowstorm prevents them from leaving, they discover the cabin is much too small for their undeniably hot desire.
Sam has spent the past year fighting his attraction to the perky, inquisitive Brooke. With his need for privacy, the last thing he wants is a relationship with a reporter. But trapped in the cabin with this romance-loving beauty, he can’t resist her warm smile and sunny disposition.
Sam and Brooke spend a hot, secretive weekend together, but what happens when these snowbound lovers are forced to return to real life?

This is the fourth book in the series and it just made me fall in love with series even more. I couldn’t put this book down. I’m going to warn you now this book is book hangover worthy one. Plan plenty of time to dive into this one because you’ll be mad if you get interrupted. I was so lost in the pages of this one and I truly didn’t come up for air until I was done. I loved Brooke and Sam. They were so perfect for one another. This book had me hooked right off the bat, but then the snowbound in an isolated cabin had me sold. I liked how Brooke brought out a different side to Sam even a romantic one he did’t even think he had in him. Big romantic gestures were mentioned in Sam’s schooling of romance, but that man pulled out a few himself that are very swoon worthy. This book has plenty heart and feels. It also had me laughing along the way. I can’t recommend this one enough!!
This series is phenomenal! Words of Love, the 4th installment of the love stories of Bliss Cove, tells the story of Bliss Cove’s bookstore owner, Sam Donovan and the romantic lover, Brooke Castle. Although, of course, both of them have always held a secret interest in the other from afar, it took being stranded together in a country cabin during a snowstorm to really be able to feel, taste, and fully experience their attraction for one another. Sam, who truly doesn’t believe in romance or commitment to one individual, is met with pink unicorns and fairy dust ultra romantic Brooke, who longed for her One True Love and the Big Romantic Gesture (BRG). This attraction was off-the-chart hot, quick, and goose-bumpy. How Brooke turned Sam 200% into a total romantic for his One True Love, is a beautiful, witty, special, and full-circle story. Ms Lindsey has done it again with another installment in this series! I especially loved the little nod to another romance series of alter-ego author Nina Lane, “Sweet Dreams.” If you haven’t begun reading this Bliss Cove series, you can start with this one, work backwards while awaiting a new installment!!!
Wow, I can honestly say I was surprised about this book. I always wondered about Sam the book shop owner.
I loved Brooke and Sam together, they may of started as fun and learning. But you knew it was going to be more.
Nina Lindsey did another amazing job.
Oh how I love going back to Bliss Cove! I really loved this couple, Sam and Brooke. He was a broody and mysterious. Brooke moved back to Bliss Cove after some stumbles in her life. They find themselves stranded in a cabin due to a snowstorm. Is there anything cuter than a blanket fort? She figures out Sam’s secret and offers to help him. The chemistry is there from the beginning, before they both admit it. Just a great read all around. I hope there will be more Bliss Cove books because Nina Lindsey certainly knows how to pull you into the story from page one, I adore her!
Last November I read the third book in the ‘Bliss Cove’ series and I was convinced I’d found my favorite hero in Grant, but I think I may have been wrong, because I had not yet read Sam’s book.
Sam is now my very favorite ‘Bliss Cove’ series hero (I have a weakness for seemingly broody heroes who have a secret softness for the heroine). In ‘Words of Love’ we get to read Brooke and Sam’s story and it’s a lovely one.
Sam is the aforementioned broody bookstore owner and Brooke is the romantic and eternally optimist “sunny side up” reporter trying to restart her life after suffering some major disappointments. Both are looking for a bit of quiet when they rent a remote cottage only to find out they’ve rented the same cottage by mistake, and then of course there was a major snowstorm that prevent either from leaving (one of my favorite tropes). After they get stuck together and alone, they have some hot and heavy sessions in a blanket fort (I will never look at blanket forts the same again).
Sam and Brooke are both convinced they could not possibly have a relationship outside of the cottage and blanket fort of secrets as they have entirely different beliefs when it comes to love. Sam doesn’t believe in it and Brooke most certainly does. Obviously, they are very wrong and we get to see them attempt to fool themselves into believing they’re dating to help each other out (I won’t say why this “dating of convenience” happened as it would be a plot spoiler) and not because they are obviously falling in love with one another. They face a few bumps along the road to their HEA, but they get it together just in time. Also, we get glimpses of past favorite couples and the lovely residents of Bliss Cove.
I loved this book and I am hoping for more in this series, because I am a greedy reader.
Nothing better than an opposites attract story when the characters realize they may have more in common than they believed. Sam has secrets and needs to keep Brooke at a distance but their attraction is too much and they give in. I loved reading their growth and when they come to the realization they may be able to have more, especially for Sam. The story is intriguing with an air of mystery, passion, and some comedy that had me smiling the whole time reading.
4.5-Stars
There’s nothing quite like getting hooked on a book from the word go. And this is what happened to me in the first story I read in the Bliss Cove series, the beauty being each one can be read as a standalone. Firstly, I have to say that the author’s writing is impeccable. She’s made her characters come alive in a quiet seaside town where everybody’s eager to know everyone’s business, and created convincingly lifelike personalities. The storyline’s narrative flow felt natural, was easy to read and although it’s low on angst, I didn’t miss the drama.
‘In other words, he was like a thundercloud to her rainbow.’
I just love discouragingly tetchy heroes with a chip on their shoulders, and Sam Donavan is of no exception. He’s quite an enigma, a poor conversationalist, keeping himself to himself. But how could he not be aware of the girl who goes about her life with a ‘sunny side up’ spring in her step day in, day out? Trouble is, he isn’t one for breaking the ice and Brooke Castle not making the first move I found understandable. The spin on the town’s activities which Brooke takes a hearty interest in is really well conveyed, but why Sam doesn’t make an effort when he could is a conundrum of sorts. Obviously, the only way to find out how he ticked was to keep on reading!
“Have you always been a glass half-full kind of person?”
Brooke’s had more than her fair share of ups and downs but still looks on the bright side. Lindsey nailed her character. I loved her fighting spirit to move on, look for solutions and not rely on a family member who’d helped her out in the past. It was time to plan for the future and what better way than to escape to a remote cabin in the mountains. However, she’ll be in for a surprise or three!
“I’ve never been a person who needs to be alone much, but a place like this makes me see the appeal of solitude.”
I couldn’t help but root for Sam. Discovering his secret…well, my first thought was here we have a guy who’s got more emotional baggage than he knows how to cope with. I truly believed that he needed someone like Brooke and even though they’re so unalike, they do have an interest in common. At the very least, all I wanted was for them to become friends and if he opened up to her, maybe she could help him.
“This is the granddaddy of all secrets, Sam.”
Brooke believes in ‘the one’. Sam hasn’t got a romantic bone in his body. This slow-burn character-driven romance’s steaminess is set in one of the cosiest places you can imagine. Lol, I’d be game to do what Brooke did with blankets if I didn’t think hubs would roll his eyes!
“At least I know what it feels like to be in love. Maybe that’s a part of your problem right there. You’ve never been in love…”
I really enjoyed watching Sam coming into his own and Brooke opening her eyes to a truth to close for comfort. Now then, I’m not a huge fan of third-person narration; nonetheless, Lindsey has skillfully woven witty banter and intelligent dialogue into a romance that is well-worth reading. Bravo!
“Surrendering is like giving up. Throwing in the towel. We should win love. Achieve it. We should fall in love with being in love.”
Words of Love may just be my favorite thus far in the Bliss Cove series. Nina Lindsey gives us the kind of slow-burn romance I can’t help but fall hard for, as the mysterious book shop owner in Sam finds himself stranded with the wonderful local reporter that is Brooke, in a cabin deep in the woods. Oh these two. No one has been able to figure out why Sam is often gruff and closed off. And perhaps he just needed someone like the delightful woman in Brooke to break through his walls.
Their unexpected days together as they wait out a winter storm is full of surprises. The way Lindsey takes her time in allowing Sam to begin to open himself up is simply beautiful. Brooke takes baby steps with him, enticing him with moments she has gleaned from her childhood and it’s just a matter of time before he finds himself wanting more from this incredible person.
The chemistry is palpable as they find a rhythm together during these secluded days and nights and huge secrets are revealed. I liked Brooke and her easy nature, even when she was questioning her own choices and what might lie ahead for her career-wise. She is a nurturer and never forced Sam for any more than he could give. Even despite the fact that she has harbored a crush on him for a long while.
The small town of Bliss Cove is ever-present and full of a necessary levity as Sam tries to figure out how to navigate a new life for himself and finds that he is a different person after his time with Brooke. They both have a bit of self-discovery to manage and one only hopes it can be done together.
Well worth your time, this entire series is heartwarming and full of joy. Words of Love is my new favorite and it will be yours too.
5 stars all the way!
