$13.27That’s the balance left between my checking and savings accounts. It’s all gone–the nest egg I’d saved is sitting in some off shore bank account with someone else’s name on itI lost my job due to downsizing. I lost my money in a dumb credit card scam. And now rent is due and my fridge is depressingly empty.Thank God for my best friend, Charlie. She’s hooked me up with a gig as personal … with a gig as personal assistant in her father’s publishing agency. If it wasn’t for her, I’d probably wind up living in my car eating the leather off the steering wheel.
Funny thing is, my biggest conundrum is no longer where my meal will come from. Mr. Miller is ridiculously sexy and I can’t stop picturing my best friend’s dad and new boss in very unprofessional ways.
The even bigger problem? I think Mr. Miller might be thinking of me the same way
Words I Shouldn’t Say is a standalone as part of a series. It is best to read in order, but not necessary. This book is intended for mature readers, 18+.

OH MY GOSH!!!! I freaking loved this book so much!!! Like SO MUCH!!! Audrey Ravine has done it again!
Lili and Troy have known each other for years, cause they have one person that they love so much in common. Charlie. Charlie who is Lili’s bestie from freshman year in college. Charlie who is Troy’s daughter. Yep, you read that right!!
Yes Troy is more than double her age, but age is just a number. You also can’t help who you fall in love with either. Lili is torn as she doesn’t want to lose her best friend, but she also doesn’t want to lose the first man she’s ever loved.
They both try to keep it quiet at first, and while trying to figure out a way to break the news to Charlie, an accident happens. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I actually gasped out loud!
Troy finds out that creepy Greg caused some issues and he’s dealt with accordingly.
They both find that they have to explain themselves to Lili’s parents when they return in a hurry from their trip in Europe due to the accident.
18 months later, things have progressed, and everyone has accepted the relationship.
So many twists and turns, and I LOVED IT!
Some of my fave quotes:
1. How am I going to be able to get through working with the man that fuels my wet panties?
2. The man is freakin’ sex on two legs.
3. “Keep your tits on, I’m getting out now.” – LOL!!!
4. Then at lunch, he pressed against my chin to bring my eyes to his, and I think I may have creamed my pants with the gesture. – I would have too Lili!
5. “First, we don’t fuck.” – Ohhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyy goooossshhhhhh
6. I knew from the moment you stepped into my office that you would be my undoing. – CUE SWOON MOMENT!
“I know I should let you walk out this door. I know I should let you walk away from me. But, I can’t bring myself to let you go. I need to taste you again.”
“I should say I don’t want that, but it would be a lie.”
Let me start by saying, this is not my favorite trope. I’m not a big fan of stories where the main female character hooks up with her BFF’s dad. It’s just weird to me. It’s not the age gap – I’m fine with an age gap story. The whole relationship dynamic just makes it all feel, somehow, wrong and disastrous. Now that I’ve said that, I did like this story overall.
Lili White is in a pickle. Scammed out of her savings and downsized out of her job, she’s on the cusp of becoming homeless, or at the very least, couching it with friends. When her best friend, Charlotte, arranges for her father to find a position for Lili in his company, it’s an answer to her prayers. But, there’s one problem – she has crushed on Charlie’s dad since she first met him. He’s been fodder for many of her fantasies, and now she’ll be working directly with him. Could it be possible that her fantasies will become reality? If they cross that line, what will that do to her friendship with Charlie? If she has to choose, she won’t be able to. A life without either of them isn’t acceptable.
Troy Miller isn’t looking forward to this. Hiring his daughter’s best friend, Lili, to be his personal assistant wasn’t a good idea. From what he remembers of her, Lili was a shy, dowdy, bumbling kid. This has disaster written all over it. But, when she walks in his office, the kid he remembers is no where to be seen, and in her place, a beautiful, smart, and sexy woman. She draws him to her on every level. He knows he shouldn’t act on it, but he can’t stay away. How long can they keep this up before it all blows up and he loses everything? He’s about to find out.
As I said earlier, this trope is not one of my favorites, and as such, may have swayed my review a bit. But, I did enjoy the story. Troy came off as quite the jerk at times, overly mercurial, and sometimes he was just down right mean to Lili, but he eventually realized it and made up for it. Lili seemed to me to be a little weak in putting up with it all, but she did eventually find her spine.
There was no doubt these two loved each other and had a shared concern for Charlotte. But, regardless of how many times they both said they shouldn’t, they still did. Thankfully, it all worked out for the best.
