An iconic figure of the 1960s and ’70s, Pattie Boyd breaks a forty-year silence in Wonderful Tonight, and tells the story of how she found herself bound to two of the most addictive, promiscuous musical geniuses of the twentieth century and became the most famous muse in the history of rock and roll. She met the Beatles in 1964 when she was cast as a schoolgirl in A Hard Day’s Night. Ten days … Night. Ten days later a smitten George Harrison proposed. For twenty-year-old Pattie Boyd, it was the beginning of an unimaginably rich and complex life as she was welcomed into the Beatles inner circle—a circle that included Mick Jagger, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck, and a veritable who’s who of rock musicians. She describes the dynamics of the group, the friendships, the tensions, the musicmaking, and the weird and wonderful memories she has of Paul and Linda, Cynthia and John, Ringo and Maureen, and especially the years with her husband, George. It was a sweet, turbulent life, but one that would take an unexpected turn, starting with a simple note that began “dearest l.” I read it quickly and assumed that it was from some weirdo; I did get fan mail from time to time…. I thought no more about it until that evening when the phone rang. It was Eric [Clapton]. “Did you get my letter?”… And then the penny dropped. “Was that from you?” I said….It was the most passionate letter anyone had ever written me.For the first time Pattie Boyd, former wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, a high-profile model whose face epitomized the swinging London scene of the 1960s, a woman who inspired Harrison’s song “Something” and Clapton’s anthem “Layla,” has decided to write a book that is rich and raw, funny and heartbreaking—and totally honest and open and breathtaking. Here is the truth, here is what happened, here is the story you’ve been waiting for.

If you like “People” magazine, the writing in this memoir is only slightly worse. No new or interesting insights – maybe on a plane if you’ve run out of other reading…
Pattie Boyd is George Harrison’s first wife and Eric Clapton’s. Pattie tells all with open honesty. If you don’t already you will fall in love with Pattie. Anyone in love with The Beatles and that time period this book is a must read. I recommend this book.
Pattie Boyd had an unusual childhood and went on to marry George Harrison of the Beatles, then Eric Clapton. This is her life. She describes her relationship with both husbands, how they each put her on a pedestal and completely let her down. An amazing look at the 60s, 70s and 80s.
I ENJOYED READING THIS ALOT. COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN. LIFE ISN’T ALWAYS WHAT YOU THINK IT IS FOR SOMEONE ELSE. VERY INFORMATIVE,AND SAD AT TIMES.
Liked it! Behind the scenes of famous Rock Stars and bands
If you’re interested in the Beatles, Eric Clapton and one of the most famous muses of all time (she was the inspiration for such songs as Wonderful Tonight, Something and Layla), then you’ll enjoy this book. Interesting for fans of Harrison and Clapton
Read it a while ago. Great insider view to rock and roll royalty, from Beatle to Clapton and everyone in between. Find out what swinging London in the ’60s was like. Patti Boyd was every bit the celebrity as her famous husbands. Great read!
Ridiculous!!
Poor writing/editing
Kept my interest the first half of the book, then got bored with the drug-alog and the name-dropping.
Writing wasn’t very good
If you like reading about London in the 60’s and classic rocks gods, it’s a great read.
What a hoot to read about these three people (two of whom had a profound effect on my generation)!
I was involved in this era of the 60’s and 70’s. It was interesting to hear Patti”s side of the story.
Moving, heartbreaking, so moving…I loved this book!!! I read it twice back to back then spent hours on UTube with all of its characters and relived the story over and over again as my heart broke.
