An iconic figure of the 1960s and ’70s, Pattie Boyd breaks a forty-year silence in Wonderful Tonight, and tells the story of how she found herself bound to two of the most addictive, promiscuous musical geniuses of the twentieth century and became the most famous muse in the history of rock and roll. She met the Beatles in 1964 when she was cast as a schoolgirl in A Hard Day’s Night. Ten days … Night. Ten days later a smitten George Harrison proposed. For twenty-year-old Pattie Boyd, it was the beginning of an unimaginably rich and complex life as she was welcomed into the Beatles inner circle—a circle that included Mick Jagger, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck, and a veritable who’s who of rock musicians. She describes the dynamics of the group, the friendships, the tensions, the musicmaking, and the weird and wonderful memories she has of Paul and Linda, Cynthia and John, Ringo and Maureen, and especially the years with her husband, George. It was a sweet, turbulent life, but one that would take an unexpected turn, starting with a simple note that began “dearest l.” I read it quickly and assumed that it was from some weirdo; I did get fan mail from time to time…. I thought no more about it until that evening when the phone rang. It was Eric [Clapton]. “Did you get my letter?”… And then the penny dropped. “Was that from you?” I said….It was the most passionate letter anyone had ever written me.For the first time Pattie Boyd, former wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, a high-profile model whose face epitomized the swinging London scene of the 1960s, a woman who inspired Harrison’s song “Something” and Clapton’s anthem “Layla,” has decided to write a book that is rich and raw, funny and heartbreaking—and totally honest and open and breathtaking. Here is the truth, here is what happened, here is the story you’ve been waiting for.

Very superficial and poorly written
The first chapter was incredible with its descriptions of Africa but the rest of the book was completely different. I liked it though and enjoyed Patty’s memoir
If you are a Beatles fan, you should love this book. Written by the first wife of George Harrison . She was also married to Eric Clapton. That alone is enough to make this a wonderful read.
While not the best written, I did enjoy the rock n’ roll history. Thank you to Patty for telling her side of the story and dropping names like nobody’s business!
OKAY but somewhat boring.
Pattie, I love you!!! You have had such an incredible life! Thanks for starting at the beginning, and not just after you came to know so many famous people! Your childhood was so packed with travel and living life with all of it’s ups and downs, feasts and famines and you spared nothing, the details were rich and so far reaching!!! I felt like …
I don’t understand how a woman who experienced first hand so much with rock’s greatest legends could write such a vapid, uninteresting book.
Worth the read just to understand how uninspiring the lives of the rich and famous truly are. I feel sorry for Patty Boyd, George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
Shallow
Great and sometime tragic story of Pattie and her lovers George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
Interesting insight into the very private life of George Harrison through his first wife Patti Boyd’s eyes and George and Patti’s relationship with Eric Clapton.
They were wonderful character because they are/were real people – people from youth that I loved. It was nice to be able lose myself in the past for awhile. Love anything about the Beatles and George being my favorite, I always wondered what happened between him and Pattie. And of course so many of my musical heroes from 60’s & 70’s are included. …
Pattie Boyd is doing an autobiography with The Beatles and Eric Clapton. Clapton started his own autobiography after disputing some of what Boyd wrote. The book is quite good and the info contained is fascinating. A great read and a page turner.
I always hoped she would write an autobiography, due to her talent and also her romances with two of the greatest musicians of my time. The book is full of irony and humor and does not disappoint.
I grew up in the Beatles (George Harrison) and Eric Clapton era, but did not know much anout their personal lives or marriage to Pattie Boyd. This book was very interesting and enlightening. I highly recommend.
A story for the times. Love is never really easy, and yet this book tends to open parts of their lives so that we can peek in and see really they were just a couple with the same hopes and dreams that many of us have. Money is always secondary to love, although it helps. Good Read.
Candid and honest
Looking at the cover, I thought this would be more about George Harrison and Eric Clapton and Patty Boyd’s relationship with them. Instead, it primarily focused on Patty’s life, starting from when she was a little girl. It seemed more like an autobiography of her life. It was quite informative and detailed, if you were interested in her life and …
The last chapter or two felt rushed-like it had to meet deadline.
I learned some things about living in the world of rock n roll.
