An iconic figure of the 1960s and ’70s, Pattie Boyd breaks a forty-year silence in Wonderful Tonight, and tells the story of how she found herself bound to two of the most addictive, promiscuous musical geniuses of the twentieth century and became the most famous muse in the history of rock and roll. She met the Beatles in 1964 when she was cast as a schoolgirl in A Hard Day’s Night. Ten days … Night. Ten days later a smitten George Harrison proposed. For twenty-year-old Pattie Boyd, it was the beginning of an unimaginably rich and complex life as she was welcomed into the Beatles inner circle—a circle that included Mick Jagger, Ron Wood, Jeff Beck, and a veritable who’s who of rock musicians. She describes the dynamics of the group, the friendships, the tensions, the musicmaking, and the weird and wonderful memories she has of Paul and Linda, Cynthia and John, Ringo and Maureen, and especially the years with her husband, George. It was a sweet, turbulent life, but one that would take an unexpected turn, starting with a simple note that began “dearest l.” I read it quickly and assumed that it was from some weirdo; I did get fan mail from time to time…. I thought no more about it until that evening when the phone rang. It was Eric [Clapton]. “Did you get my letter?”… And then the penny dropped. “Was that from you?” I said….It was the most passionate letter anyone had ever written me.For the first time Pattie Boyd, former wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton, a high-profile model whose face epitomized the swinging London scene of the 1960s, a woman who inspired Harrison’s song “Something” and Clapton’s anthem “Layla,” has decided to write a book that is rich and raw, funny and heartbreaking—and totally honest and open and breathtaking. Here is the truth, here is what happened, here is the story you’ve been waiting for.

Horrible book about worthless people and their even more worthless lives. Sorry I wasted part of my life reading it.
My expectations were modest for this read. I didn’t expect great literature. I realized there would be some name-dropping and lots of drugs and sex. All true.
But what I didn’t expect was the total lack of believable emotion as Pattie shares what should have been compelling details about her parent’s divorce, her own two failed marriages, and …
Interesting for the most part
An eye into the Beatles, post Beatles, & Clapton years in an easy to read stream of consciousness narrative.
Inside look into the music world of my youth. Doomed people trapped in a small group.
Boring, lots of name dropping.
Fascinating story of a love in the music world….
Wonderful insider look into the early days of the British rock scene & beyond with the fabulous muse Patti Boyd as my guide. Utterly fascinating and well-written. Highly recommend for any fan of the Beatles, especially George Harrison, and Eric Clapton.
I will never view The Beatles in the same way again.
Wonderful insight into the 60’s and time in England. After reading this book you should watch Hard Days Night.
Patti is a unique person in having loved, and been loved, by two such iconic musicians. Her memoir lets you see not only the thrilling and romantic sides of George Harrison and Eric Clapton, but also their selfish and arrogant sides. She inspired great songs, and paid dearly for the honor.
YAWN!!!
If like me you are interested in music and the london music scene in particular you’ll enjoy this book.
I learned many details about George Harrison and Eric Clapton that I didn’t know.
Great book gave good insight to Patti’s life. Enjoyed learning more about the Beatles and Eric Clapton.
Sex drugs and rock n roll runs all through this book. The writing is immature, however, and often confusing, jumping from one event in one time to another event in another time, and then back again. I was truly amazed at how immature and spoiled almost all the characters were.
Good book for those of us who were living life to the fullest in the early 70’s. Relatable
An insight of how wealthy people spend their money and many vacations.
I enjoy reading about rock n roll stars. Patti Boyd is interesting because she was married to two famous players, George Harrison and Eric Clapton. I had hoped that there would be more information or meat to the book, but I was disappointed. It really was like just skimming the surface of each husband. Writing was just ok.
I’ve always wondered about both George and Eric’s muse. She seems to be a lovely and fearless woman. Kudos
