Palacio’s highly anticipated new … don’t miss R.J. Palacio’s highly anticipated new novel, Pony, available September 2021!
I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.
August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. Beginning from Auggie’s point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope.
R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Love, love, love this book!!!! While it’s a young adult novel, it touches on so many issues we all face or have faced. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. And if you have a child in 4th – 7th grade, great book to read together.
Great story about how people judge others by their looks. Coming of age story that my daughter and I read at the same time and then saw the movie. Book was better. My mom also loved that book.
Wonder was my favorite book in grade school/middle school. It teaches you so many important lessons that EVERY KID needs to learn and show. It is a story about Auggie, a boy with a facial difference. He accepts it and tries to fit into a new school for the first time. Bullies, bullies, bullies is what wants him to cry and leave school forever. …
I think this book helps in understanding people with visual characteristics that are different than the norm. They are people with feelings and needs just like everyone else. This book with its sequels show how different people reacted to the same circumstances but through different eyes. I think kids should read this book. Also a good read aloud …
Excellent book on teaching children about kindness. Great reminders for adults as well.
I really like the book but how can I read it its my first day on this website and it doesn’t tell me how to read the book
I’ve read this book twice. I love R.J. Palacio’s excellent description of his young characters. He does a marvelous job of bringing them to life.
I love nonfiction stories and this one was incredibly powerful. I believe books like this should be recommended to everyone because it demonstrates compassion, love, and acceptance. The world is missing too much of this lately and books like this seem to inspire people to feel.
This book is so wonderful and touching, however sometimes a little hard to read.
Its concept seeing August also through different eyes of people who are touching and changing his life works just great.
August wins you right over with his funny and smart personality and makes you want to hug him all the time. His story touches your heart with …

I recommend this book for everyone, but especially for middle school students. It tells the story of Auggie, a child with an unusual genetic package that presents unusual facial features. This kid has a great sense of humor, a supportive family, and eventually makes a couple of good friends. First, though, he undergoes surgeries, stares, and …
This book is very inspirational and intriguing. I recommend this book to anyone at the age of 10 and older:) It is a great book. The author is R. J. Palacio
Collection of characters in many ways reflects the human condition. Sometimes the “good guys” make self serving choices and sometimes the “bad guys” aren’t always bad. Great story with great characters.
I have really enjoyed reading this book with my students. It really inspired them to try hard and overcome obstacles. Many of them have special needs and relate to the characters in the book.
It was inspiring. Interaction between characters – both friends and foes – very believable. Although billed as a young adult book it would be a great read for adults as well. My group of friends having read the book range from ages 40’s – 70’s.
This is a nice quick little inspirational book. It is perfect for kids going into middle school to read on their own or for a bedtime story for the younger kids who aren’t yet reading on their own yet. I think everyone should read this and take a minute to relearn the art of kindness.
Loved it. I’ve convinced many people to read this book.
I just love it especially Via’s part, was not expecting that… 5 STARS its honestly amazing.
This book is truly moving and inspirational! Auggie is a ten year old boy with a facial difference. The book shows how he takes on his life with different looks! There is also a movie, and it is very good! I would absolutely recommend, to anyone any age!
Lovely Characters.
