Women in Combat is a trenchant examination of how feminism’s war on human nature has led to the unnatural and irrational decision to integrate women into frontline combat positions in every branch of the U.S. military, thereby compromising its purpose and its effectiveness. In his unapologetic, yet often humorous assault upon the ramparts of modern feminism (and its fellow-travelers) Atkins takes … Atkins takes no prisoners. He unsparingly demonstrates that human nature is real, and that any attempt to revolt against nature is doomed to foreordained failure. Human nature, he argues, is not a generic abstraction which can be severed from the masculine / feminine duality: It is woman’s nature to take flight in the face of danger, to protect her offspring, and to assume her responsibility as the heart and soul of the home. When she is obedient to her nature, she is the primary agent of the civilizing process in human society. By contrast, it is man’s nature to stand firm in the face of danger, to protect his family and his people when they are threatened, and, in times of peace, to provide security and shelter for his dependents. True equality can emerge only out of this primordial division of labor, since both masculine and feminine roles, traditionally understood, are equally indispensable to human flourishing.

Women in Combat
I congratulate this superb author – Mark C. Atkins – as much as any I have read and/or reviewed on this subject in my many decades of doing so.
Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advance review copy. This is my honest opinion.
As a Vet, traveling up the road of the Enlisted Ranks, to Warrant Office (W-5), and then the Limited Duty Officer Ranks (LDO’s) for over 25 years – where I served as “An American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. And was prepared to give my life in their defense.” Or as General Patton said, “Make the other poor, dumb bastard – die for his country!”
Bottom line – if I had written about my own – “In the Service of my Country” – adventure, 27 year career, combat area time or insertions and the many and varied command billets I have served in over the course of a quarter decade plus and the observations I made during that time – in the United States Marine Corps Aviation Community – during this “transition” from fighting/killing men to social experimentation implementer with women, females “girls.” And of course the desperate attempt to remove masculinity from our fighting forces – since Rep. Pat Schroeder “hoodwinked” a bunch of wimpy males in the Congress and the Senate of the United States and Military Complex to concede to her lunatic feminist demands and progressive philosophy that the military should “mimic our peaceful society”. I would have taken a similar tact as this.
However Mark Atkins has done a tremendously better job of it than I ever could have and he has hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head and in just a few monumental points, premises and fact laden topics driven it deep within the grain of the balsa wood that makes up the “Alter of Liberalism” and/or the progressive manipulation of our nation.
I have witnessed, in my career, 99% of what Mr. Atkins so eloquently puts forth and asserts in this work and his premises are right on the money. I could give dozens of individual cases of the disruption and degradation that violating this basic founding principles of womanhood, mothers society necessity, family, community and society that once placed and should keep that huge red-line before anyone stepping towards this chaos and intellectually challenged philosophy and politically charged and partisan endeavor.
I have had this book for some time, and usually get quickly through a work of this size. However I continually found myself reading a few pages or a chapter or two and then putting it down to truly ponder the brilliance of this work. I tried to find fault – but upon considerable internal mental pugilistic jousting with this or that concept, point, assertion or statement – and my own experience and/or feelings. I found that I agreed and supported the main and minor points being made. Astoundingly I found that – like so many Trump-ion thoughts, facts, promises, assertions or directives – Mr. Atkins was simply telling it like it really was, without any fluff, or flowery misdirection’s or politically correct stupidity.
In short he was being unabashedly honest and simply putting forth the truth as it is in the real world without the frills of manipulation. Just the FACTS Ma’am – just the Facts!
So as long as I did take to move all the way through this book – I could find no obvious or hidden flaws in this work what-so-ever. And that caused me to take more time to be sure this was really how it moved, affected, informed and impressed me.
To be blatantly hones this is the very best book I have read on this subject with a continuous underlying set of themes like Human Nature, Family, Molding of a Team of different creature into something that is one, with each with talent, gifts, callings and each with flaws, faults and needs for the two person separate sex approach. And when that does not materialize in a society or remain as its customs, totems, expectations and traditions – then the society begins to wither and die. And Mr. Atkins brings this out in clear form, that is easily read, absorbed and understood. Simply put “all of his points are valid”, every one! Every One!
I usually find some fault in these works but in this book none. Only the absence of a postulate factor in our decline – that I see – that he did not mention which I discuss below. I also know and easily realized exactly why this profoundly truthful and tremendous book and essential work for America is not on some bestseller’s list or displayed on Oprah’s Must Read List or in Barnes and Nobles main display! LOL. The reason is because it is steeped in reality, truth, fact and those historical truths both physical and emotional that progressives want to wipe from the face of society and the earth.
I again must commend Mr. Atkins for keeping me engaged in his work and for challenging me to methodically and systematically read, review and evaluate it. For someone whom says he never served in combat – he has a keen insight into the thought processes of the military commander’s (he calls Captain’s) mind.
The only factor that, I may have read past, but think not, or that was left out or not given enough emphasis – is the fact that in war as Atkins informs us the Captain pulls together the best of the best of the best or makes lesser men so – through hard demanding “manly” training and takes them to war. he does this best with an all men force who bond and at sealed in their fate together. This is his calling to protect his country and its way of life. In that endeavor however those “Good Men” sacrifice of themselves and sometime ultimately and do not return. Do this in TOO Many wars, too many conflicts, too much adventurism and what is the result? The loss of thousands or tens of thousands of your nations best men, males, fathers, husbands, breadwinners, stabilizers and influence peddlers on the next and next generations! And what does that leave, breed or do to a society?
It begins to destroy it from within, corrupt it with the loss of so many “Good Men” that would influence other young men and girls and society for the better. This ultimate sacrifice leaves;
1. Bad men behind
2. Unethical men behind
3. Cowards behind
4. Social misfits behind
5. Unscrupulous men behind
6. Broken Homes
7. Unwed – single – widowed Mothers behind
8. Latch Key Kids
9. Scared kids
10. Sometimes Dredges who are left “In Charge” or in power and in influential places
11. Corrupted sheepish politicians or Rhinos
12. And some of those who actually return – are damaged mentally, ethically, physically, emotionally, morally and patriotically – like John McCain has proven to be and then there are John Kerry’s and others.
Mr. Atkins has a powerful work here and I dare you to read it regardless of your leanings. You can agree or disagree but he makes a powerful argument to support his Title and Subtitle. Congratulations on a stellar book Mr. Atkins. For a first attempted at authorship/publishing of this type as indicated. I simply say “Well Done Sir!”
If Thomas Paine had not beaten Mark Atkins to the punch by almost
three centuries, Mr. Atkins could have used Paine’s “Common Sense”
title for his dissertation on women in combat.
With complete disregard to falling chips, Atkins enters the fray of
the feminism movement and the absurd lengths to which it has descended
in recent years. “Women in Combat” is a cool-headed, yet sensible, and
well thought-out contribution to counter what’s left of the continuing
ebb of any common sense in this country.
Atkins distinguishes himself in his effort, not depending just on
emotion as some are prone to do, but in scholarly presentation of
facts, not just opinion. His cause is much enhanced by his being a
skilled wordsmith.
The author is to be congratulated on taking the bull by the horns to
make a valuable contribution to, yes, common sense. In short: If I
were severely wounded on the battlefield, who would I depend on to
pull me back to safety, a 250-pound former linebacker or a 98-pound
former steno? Take a guess.
As a woman who values women in the home and in the workplace as well as men and their contribution to a civilized society, I appreciate Mr. Atkins’ observations about the family and how both women and men are important to a stable culture. Our current culture has been led astray by those who are promoting a feminism that devalues both men and women. Mr. Atkins is not afraid to call them out even though it is not politically correct. He goes on to describe how women in combat will be detrimental to the safety of our country and to those women themselves. Anyone interested in the health and safety of our country and our society will appreciate this honest look at the issue. Mr. Atkins has finally called out “the emperor’s new clothes” for what they are. Thank you Mark Atkins for a well written and readable book.
Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advanced review copy. This is my honest opinion.
This book is beautifully written, and helps to counteract the propaganda we are all being subjected to that there is no difference between the genders in humans. As a researcher of more than 50 years, I know in detail what is behind the propaganda, and what its purposes are in complete detail. The original design of nature includes man and woman as counterparts that enhance each other, each with their own unique beauty and characteristics. I am not suggesting men should be in combat either, they have far better and more creative things to do with their lives than kill each other. The same global rulers that want us to believe the nonsense of gender confusion and that men and women are identical, are also the ones promoting the paradigm, now thousands of years old, that real heroes are great killers. This nonsense has been promoted even in scriptures and very old historical documents. But the fact remains that when physical conflict is unavoidable, men are designed as more expendable to the species, and more designed for deadly combat that women are, this is beyond obvious to any non-brainwashed humans. And Mark Atkins is brave enough to say it. It’s a book that celebrates the differences in the sexes, it does not in any way portray women as any less than men (or vice versa). So I recommend reading this book. But I also hope that in this critical time on Earth we can realize that what humanity needs now is not more killing, but a step up in consciousness. Yes, we must physically fight for defense if necessary, but our real challenge is to regain our original self-awareness so we can see we are all of one family here, and put an end to the need to fight each other. Even a few of us could start that wave of awakening that could make this place Heaven on Earth, instead of the Hell on Earth our current rulers are trying to create.
I also am supposed to remind you the publisher sent me an advance copy to review, but getting the book free does not mean anything I say is less than 100% honest. If I didn’t like the book I would say so. But I think it’s great, and recommend it to you.

(1) You have no actual military or combat experience on which to base your book, (2) your book has no scholarly foundation, and (3) your endorsements and testimonials come from sources who have not actually served side-by- side with women in combat. All of these these things inherently make your work an illegitimate source on the topic… little more than an extended Tweet in paperback form.
