The alphas of Hudson River, Sutter Butte and the Yukon packs are the pivots upon which the world of the wolves will change. River Wolf Brett Dalton is the Alpha of Hudson River and since one of his wolves went mad and murdered several members of his pack beneath his nose, he’s isolated himself from his pack mates. The once, easygoing Alpha has become taciturn, remote and unforgiving. The pack … unforgiving. The pack faces the threat of dissolution until Brett’s best friend and Lone Wolf, Luc Danes returns to Hudson River accompanied by Colby, a beautiful young human–or is she? Something about the woman consumes Brett.
Then Colby sees the wolves…and is exposed to a world she can barely imagine. When Luc offers to keep her with him, Brett suddenly rouses at the challenge. Now she will find herself torn between two men–one she cares about and one she could love.
Desert Wolf
Cassius, Alpha of Sutter Butte, leads the most ruthless and dangerous pack in the United States. Sometimes pitiless and cruel, he wants more for his people than a yearly bloodbath as they fight for a new place, a better spot in the pecking order. To change his pack, means to change himself and he will find rebellion on all sides, not the least of which is his own defiant heart.
Sovvan Stark, Omega of Delta Crescent, lives a cherished, life in the center of her pack. While she might hold within her the key to helping the Sutter Butte Alpha, the undertaking could very well kill her.
Snow Wolf
Ranae is the youngest of the Buckleys. Her restlessness and dominant nature affected her every relationship within Willow Bend. When her Alpha and eldest brother ask her to undertake a mission to the Yukon territory, she’s thrilled at the opportunity to be useful. Clashing with the Alpha was the last thing she expected on the dangerous assignment.
The oldest Alpha in the U.S. packs lives a gray existence. The loss of his mate so many decades before wears away at him until he doesn’t give a damn about anything. The problems of the other packs are not his, and he prefers to be left to his isolation. The arrival of the Chief Enforcer annoys him, but it is the wolf traveling with him who wakes the predator in Diesel. The scent of mate clings to her, but she rejects his overtures and challenges him on every level.
War may be coming for the Yukon, but Diesel’s battle is very personal…

River Wolf Book 7
I fell in love with Brett in Wolf Claim, a book that defines the Brett we see in this book. We also got a glimpse of him in Bayou Wolf at the summit of the Alphas. So now I really hate seeing him hiding away, almost like a lone wolf instead of the Alpha. When his friend and lone wolf Luc ends up in a Maine hospital in a coma, he tells the enforcer to bring him to Hudson River for recovery.
Luc in his current state needs to get to Hudson River fast. Instead of waiting for the enforcer, he enlists the aide of Colby, the nursing assistant doing his care.
Colby is a hard-headed, infuriating, caring, big hearted, nursing assistant. She is the only one that seems to be able to ‘calm the beast’ in room 510. He’s angry in pain and he wants to leave. She agrees to take Luc to NY on her way to Florida. With her community service completed, her intention is to start a new life far away.
Colby seems human, but is she? She smells different sometimes, to quote Luc ‘pack but not pack’.
I loved this tale set where I used to live in NY, I could visualize the area as I read. The river, SUNY, all of it. I did a lot of giggling in this one. Colby is a bit of a smart ass and each time Brett gets her to stay as Luc requested is a struggle.
We also see Gillian and Owen from Willow Bend again since Gillian is helping to train the young healer, Travis. Gillian befriends Colby and gives her reasons to stay in Hudson River.
The romance is snarky and hot and one really shouldn’t call an Alpha a dog…
Desert Wolf Book 8
Heather Long has done it again! This tale is woven so intricately it captures you and doesn’t let go until the last word is read and then you want more.
This is a difficult book, but worth every minute. Cassius is a brutal Alpha, he has to be in order to rule. However, he has a vision of what he wants his pack to be and will go to any lengths to achieve it.
With misgivings Serafina, lets her Omega Sovvan decide whether or not she will help Cassius achieve his goal.
There is already unrest with the knowledge of an Omega coming to Sutter Butte, but even Cassius didn’t realize the extent of the hate and brutality that would be shown at her arrival. The action starts right at the beginning and even as they converse, umm, growl at each other you can feel the heat rising between them.
Oh and run they did, as Cassius reveals a side to him no one has ever seen before.
Claire and Tyler, from Willow Bend join in the action, with Mason’s approval. We also see Julian, and all the other Alphas with the exception of Diesel, as they reflect on all the things that have happened in this book.
A fast paced read with plenty of twists, turns, surprises, laughter and tears. As I re-read this series I remember why I love these wolves so very much.
Snow Wolf Book 9
If you’ve been reading this series, you know the Buckley’s are a close knit family and every one of the siblings have Alpha potential. The Triplets, AJ, Ty and Lincoln, have all found their mates. AJ is Mason’s second and mated to turned wolf Vivian. Ty and Claire are finally mated and currently assisting Cassius the Sutter Butte Alpha, and finally Linc is mated to Seraphina the Delta Crescent Alpha. Which brings me to Ranae, she has been somewhat on the outside since her taunting of Claire ended up with her hurting Mason’s mate Alexis.
Sent to train as a hunter she has now reached apprenticeship and has been allowed back into Willow Bend for brief periods of time. Now Mason and AJ have decided that she should be the one to go to the Yukon to ascertain Diesel is still the Alpha and in control. If he is then she is to inform him of the attacks that have occurred at Hudson River and Sutter Butte by Russian wolves.
Julian will be the one escorting her, and she has gathered as much information as she can from the hunters who have gone there before. Not really relishing the primitive conditions they described she embraces the responsibility Mason has entrusted her with.
Julian is not easy to get along with on a good day, and when he takes off for the day in wolf form she is relieved. Hopefully he will find Diesel so she can deliver her messages and go home. Cold showers weren’t cutting it.
Diesel knew immediately that Ranae is his mate, the one whose scent taunted him while in Willow Bend.
In spite of the warning the Yukon pack gets hit, the damages several wolves dead, some injured and everyone in their outlying basecamp gone.
With vengeance on his mind Diesel still works on convincing Ranae she’s the only one for him. Things do fall into place for her after they fight together against a Russian wolf, a lieutenant of the Volchitsa, a roving band, claiming land where they could any way they could.
All Diesel has to do is find the pack behind this invasion, destroy it and claim his mate.
A trip to Russia was planned and Diesel is blindsided by Ranae as he gets joined by the pack seconds. Etienne from Delta Crescent, Luc from Hudson River and Trask from Sutter Butte, Julian the head of the enforcers and of course his potential mate, Ranae from Willow Bend.
Not only do we get to know and love Ranae and Diesel, but we learn some very interesting things about Julian and the Yukon.
Plenty of action and drama, combined with the mating dance of Ranae and Diesel make this a book you won’t be able to put down.
