Aaron Masters never let himself dream of a mate of his own. With the birthrate problem the People had been experiencing these past few generations, he knew it wasn’t likely. But that was before he first inhaled Lyla’s intoxicating scent. The only problem? She’s human. And forbidden.Lyla James is getting things all set up. After a disaster of a marriage, and the unreasonable expectations of her … expectations of her family, being far away from everyone else is exactly where she wants to be. The only problem? It’s lonely.

The promise of what this series will be is really starting to come out in this second book. I was a bit hesitant after the first, but I’m glad I decided to carry on with it. The flow in the author’s writing is definitely much improved and the transitions between couples in Wolf’s Promise went much more smoothly throughout this book. I found myself much more easily connecting with Aaron and Lyla and much more pulled into their story.
These two had, in my opinion, a deeper connection even from the beginning than the previous couple. While there was definitely some back and forth and bumps in the road Aaron and Lyla still had the kind of chemistry that kept pulling them together in a way that really hooks you. While this did flow much more smoothly in their story there were still some moments that just felt a bit, I guess disconnected is the best word, from everything else. But I’m still invested and have many questions I can’t wait to see answered in future books!
I love all of the excitement and intrigue in this the second book of the series. While there are still loads of questions we at least get an idea of what’s happening with the women and shoring up for the big battle they are expecting from the old pack. Layla and Aaron’s bonding is nothing like Cray’s and a lot less confrontational than those two who are hot and ready but with Elizabeth so they can’t compare. There are kidnappings and fights and bonding of friendships between the ladies. Layla has a lot to work out with her magic but is quickly made useful with her skills. It’s a great read that will have you turning the pages to get to the end. But don’t stop here because it’s not over and yeah you need to read the books in order. There are still a lot of loose ends so more excitement and action is on the horizon and I can’t wait.
Wolf’s Promise is the second book in “The Rabbit River Saga” and it is beautifully written with a fantastic storyline and great characters!! This is the story of Aaron and Lyla!! Aaron Masters is not a complicated man. Pack – and the alpha – have always come first. Strong, capable and loyal to the core, he never minded being second. That is until he meets Lyla, she is off limits, because she is human, which is against the pack law!! But like Lucas and Clay, he doesn’t care!! Lyla is on the run because she has dangerous secrets of her own!! Having escaped a bad marriage, it’s been a long time since Lyla has been with a man, and even longer since she’s been on a date. But Aaron, with his strong looks and boyish charm, is irresistible. Should they have listened to the warning signals? But it doesn’t matter because, like it or not, there’s no turning back for either of them. It’s exciting and romantic and exciting. I can hardly wait to read the next book. It’s exciting without being creepy. There are violent parts that are dramatic but not gory. I loved the interaction between the characters, the love, loyalty, respect. But this is not just their story, the other pack members are also woven into the story and that’s why I recommend reading book 1 first!! This book is sexy, exciting with twists, add some humorous moments, which made me laugh a lot!! I highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily received this book free for an honest review.
p.s. I think I like the new cover better than this one.
I am really enjoying this series! Wolf’s Promise is Book 2 in the Rabbit River Saga and picks up where book 1 (Moonerise Over Rabbit River) leaves off.
I love that all the same main characters are in this book but the focus is on a different member of the pack and a new character is introduced which brings another layer of mystery and drama to the series.
Throughout the series there is one main storyline but each book is bringing in a separate smaller plot that intertwines with the overall mystery. It keeps the reader guessing as to what is happening and how it is going to end.
Thankfully Book 3 (Checkmate) is already out so I don’t have to wait to see what happens next!
Wolf’s Promise is the second Book in The Rabbit River Saga by Elyce de Reefe. I am really liking this series and how you get various points of views. You dont just get the love story between Aaron and Lyla…you get to see the pack evolving, the relationship between Elizabeth and Cray, and then the slowly burning bond between Lucas and Mari. All the characters get to tell their story but by bit and it’s really got me hooked and anxious for more.
This book has action, magic, drama, humor, and romance. It all comes together to tell story that grips you and holds on. Now… just to wait for more.
