This is the first book in a new series by this author and I hope to read many more of this one! I Love all her books but I really enjoyed this one a lot. Jestine is on an assignment in London investigating a kidnaping when her team is attacked and killed. She is the only survivor and calls in for help. Jake Huang and his new pack of werewolves are called in to help. Not knowing if she can trust this new Team she has to come to grips with her doubts and her feelings for him or chance getting everyone killed. Wonderful world building and the characters are very believable .If you like paranormal books and Operative team books you will love this one.
An Absolutely Amazing Paranormal Suspense Romance .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Wolf Under Fire . I really enjoyed reading this Fantastic Story . It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat with pulse pounding suspense and intrigue . The characters are a fabulous collection of individuals each team member has their own unique skills and abilities . This is such a well written story . It kept me captivated from start to finish . Special Agent Jake Huang is lead agent for his FBI/CIA Special Threat Assessment team (STAT ) . Jake is also a werewolf he and his team are sent to London when two Agents had their throats ripped out by an unknown creature . They must help the lone team mate Jestina Ridley on a case of a kidnapping where the security guards also had their throats ripped out . Jake is taken from the moment he sees a picture of Senior Field Agent
and new team member Jestina (Jes) . Little do the know it’s gonna get intense very fast . This story is Action packed and absolutely brilliant .
I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
Having read 5 of the books in Paige Tyler’s previous SWAT series, I was already pretty familiar with her world of werewolves, however, I do think this new series can stand alone and that a new reader would have no problem jumping in here. That said, I did find the book a bit more chaotic than her SWAT series. I think that was because there was a lot to establish up front, a whole new team composed of both werewolves and humans, a new agency (the STAT group), new supernatural creatures, and a host of new locations as this series will be more international in scope than the SWAT series which was mainly set in Dallas. The plot also seemed to be filled with action, maybe just a touch too much so, but it was fast-paced and exciting. Jake was wonderful as the alpha and leader of this new team, determined to meld them together into a “pack”. Jestina was initially a bit hostile as she was accustomed to fighting rogue werewolves and didn’t think much of supernaturals in general, but she softened as she got to know and started to trust the rest of the team. And of course, it turned out that she was Jake”s “one”, his soulmate, so she didn’t fight her attraction to him for long. I’ll be looking forward to more stories in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Action, adventure and love! Wolf Under Fire (STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team #1) by Paige Tyler is a spin-off of her successful SWAT series which is phenomenal. In this new series the STAT team is a hybrid mix of folks that are aware of the supernatural and when necessary take down dangerous supernatural offenders. This is a terrific team and I look forward to future adventures with them all.
2.5/5 stars!
I was looking forward to this book, but was disappointed at some points of the story. Firstly, the heroine made some comments that irked me near the beginning, even though her tune changed later in the story. A minor point that I wasn’t particularly fond of was when the hero didn’t feel like a leader until said mission was in progress. Lastly, I didn’t feel that the transition from acquaintance to lovers wasn’t smooth in my eyes.
The best parts of this book included the comprehensive werewolf pack aspect that Ms. Tyler is known for. I also liked the set of characters that encompass as the team or “pack” of this story. Even though some parts were predictable, I found the overall plot enjoyable and the set of supernatural beings intriguing.
Though this particular book was not my favorite of Ms. Tyler’s books, I will read future additions from this series because of the general plot and Ms. Tyler’s writing. I do think there are some characters that needs their own books in the future.
**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.**
Non stop action, some mystery and our awesome werewolves 🙂 This one seems pretty hard hitting with explosive (no pun intended) action, graphic at times, but as they (well most) are werewolves it seemed a necessity to help explain all they can keep on taking, and keep on ticking. Jake is chosen as the leader of this STAT team and works with a human Jes who is aware of supernaturals and distrusts them. Understandable. The new team has Caleb, an Omega, Harley also an Alpha female werewolf, Forest a Human and Misty who is human and a technopath! (Read the book) They are overseas searching for what they thought was one child, and prince how was an asset that has turned rouge. We meet a new supernatural, but no one is sure what kind. This was a pretty rough and ready on the go action. Softened with some humor and “THE ONE” relationship with Jess and Jake. I enjoyed this book, but I have to admit I had to take a few breaths a long the way. Thank you #Netgalley #Paige tyler # SourcebooksCasablanca for the arc! I freely volunteer my unsolicited opinions. I recommend this to all who love paranormal, suspense, urban fantasy, military.
5 stars
Jestina is part of STAT, Special Threat Assessment Team, they look for paranormal signatures and put a stop to them. She was in London looking for a kidnapped girl, when her team is ambushed and she’s the only one to live. Her boss sends her new team out to assist. Jake is a former SEAL and now is Alpha of this new STAT team. He’s a werewolf who turned after surviving a helicopter crash. He is guardian of twin eighteen year old girls and they’ve just moved to D.C. Jes isn’t too happy about working with the werewolves but something about Jake draws her in. Jake knows she’s THE ONE, his soul mate, but can he convince her to take a chance on them?
OMG!!! Excellent story with suspense that will have you at the edge of your seat. I freaking loved this story. The characters are interesting and the story is non stop action. With a little bit of romance thrown in. Werewolves, technopath, someone who can get into electronics, and a something strange.
