The king who refuses to be king
Oh my goodness! Another five star review from this author. With each book, I fall more in love with these Shifter Kings from Nashville. These guys get hit with a whammy when they meet their queens. They lose the resistance to fate and fall over the top in love with their mates. I am so ecstatic that Wolf has found his HEA. He is a deep soul and only this woman could be the one who would heal him. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Wolf and Sera are an unlikely match. Virtually impossible considering their respective positions. But the fates have a different plan. Somehow they are mates. No give aways here but you will have to read to the end to find out. Fantastically creative ending! Bravo Author Gunn!!
Wolf is determined he will not be the next wolf king. He has 30 days to find his mate. He wants to marry a human woman so that he doesn’t have to be wolf king. Seraphina is a sea witch who is destined to be the sea queen. She doesn’t want to be the queen. She has been avoiding her aunt who was meant to train her in her new duties and powers but Sera has been avoiding her calls.
Wolf is called to rescue people who have been caught in a mud slide on the other side of his mountain. Sera is stuck on the side of that mountain in that very same mud slide. Wolf rescues Sera and all he can think about is the red haired, freckle faced girl he pulled off the mountain. Suddenly he has to have her shelter in his house for the night. They cant fight their attraction to each other and have some steamy moments.
Wolf realises he loves Sera and she is his mate. But his time to choose his mate is almost up before he can no longer be wolf king. Sera faces her challenges of no magic for two days and then goes through the trial she cant not go through and comes out on the other side as the queen of the ocean. She and wolf will rule the ocean together as king and queen. This short story was well written and kept you interested from the start to the end. I quite enjoyed reading it.

a Wolf and his witch
I put off reading this book because, in the previous ones, I wasn’t that sold on Wolf, and really didn’t care for Sera. I wanted to read Poison’s story though so I finally convinced myself to read this, and I am glad I did. I loved their story, how they met, how they fell in love, and even how Wolf managed to woo Sera back afterwards.
Since Lion’s story we have known Wolf didn’t want to become king but I thought he would change his mind once he met his queen. Wolf has met his match in Sera. She is supposed to be the Queen of the Sea Witches but she doesn’t want it knowing she has to rule without a king by her side for the first 57 years. Can these two best their destinies and not rule?
One thing I loved here was that it had memorable characters. Between a complicated relationship between Seraphina and her magic and Wolf and his role as King, both individual complications added interest to this short story in a way that felt real and just difficult enough to make their outcome that much more awesome. I really couldn’t have predicted the ending at all and it was perfection for the couple and their most heartfelt desires. Giving us compelling characters, despite the push and pull that generally annoys me, made this story fit right in with the series. The steam was absolutely there and the relationship had its share of ups and downs with secrets, but they made it out the other end with so much strength and determination to make things work so they could fulfill their roles in a brand new way for their world.
Fantastic Story!
What a fantastic, steamy and totally sweet love story. Wolf is intense, growly and completely sexy. Sera is tough, fierce and a fighter for what she wants. These two were definitely made for each other. I loved their interactions and all of their steamy moments. When they first noticed and touched each other it was explosive. And every interaction after was filled with love and longing. I absolutely loved every bit of this story.
Great writing and great world building. I hope to read more stories from this author in the future.
Absolutely fantastic! A well written emotionally deep romance. The storyline is flawless, funny, witty, enjoyable, and very interesting. The story flows smoothly and moves along at a brisk pace with a few ups and downs and a mix of emotions on every page. The chemistry between them is intense and their love scenes are beautifully written and HOT!

Every thirty years a King is chosen to lead the pack and then has thirty days to find his mate and future Queen. Wolf is the chosen one and but he doesn’t want to be King so he hides out in the mountains hoping to get through the thirty days. Sera is a sea witch without powers and is supposed to be Queen. Two interesting characters neither want to reign but both are destined to lead. This was my second book by this author and I am loving this series. The writing is great and the characters are intriguing.
Duty to family/country or self? Why not a third option? Wolf having a raving pity party of one! Sera in a life death situation and still retains her perspective. Wolf a wolf shifter, would be King but doesn’t want the position. Sera, a witch who lost her powers, destined to be Queen, very reluctant. Both suffer from tragic losses which they carry like rucksacks. They feel that instant ‘pull’ and both fight it. This is a really nice story. Information dump in the first chapter! Welcome, but no time to sort it out. The ending left me with a lot of questions. I feel I should have read the previous stories to get a better perspective. I liked Wolf and Sera a lot. The other characters sounded like a fun group of people. What does being King or Queen mean exactly? I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
