Rachel Bennett is a SWAT werewolf that is being hounded by nightmares after a vicious attack left her with PTSD. Knox Lawson is a former Navy SEAL who needs Rachel’s help because he turning into a werewolf. He once hunted their kind, so Rachel isn’t sure she can trust him but having him around keeps the nightmares – and the monster creating them – away.
This is one OMG, Amazing SWAT story that really gets the blood pumping. First the chemistry between Rachel and Knox is off the charts and readers can easily recognize that this couple belongs together but with what’s happening around them, who each of them are and what they are, the relationship is quite complicated with intense emotions flowing from every page right alongside the scorching heat of their desire.
Second, the plot is fast paced, non-stop intense nail biting suspense and excitement that has readers bounding in their seats with adrenaline. Readers can’t take their eyes off Rachel and Knox as her PTSD gets worse and with some super surprising twists her issues become way more complicated adding some fascinating and unique elements to this story. And let’s not forget the SWAT team has a history with Knox that could have this budding relationship ending in disaster and that’s not all folks. That high-profile protection detail has majorly stunning twists that adds lots of danger and thrills to the story as well. SO VERY EXCITING!
If you think this is just another werewolf story then think again…it’s so much more. Rachel’s nightmares after her attack are taking over her life. I was actually scared to keep reading, don’t we all hate clowns. Knox is he a bad guy or just confused. Plenty of mystery and action in this one. If you love Alpha males, kick arse women, danger and sizzle then this book is for you.
This story was great with a little bit of romance and a whole lot of action. Rachel used to be a cop but an attack by a clown made her look at life differently so now she does security with a group like her. When Knox was shot in the leg saving Rachel he became obsessed with her, yes she is beautiful but he knows it’s something else. Rachel along with her teammates get security duty guarding a ADA and her daughter and with a private security company who Knox works for. When he asks her for help dealing with his becoming a wolf they have to keep it on the down low because as a former hunter her pack wasn’t going to like that. Rachel has nightmares since the attack of the clown but lately they are getting worse and Knox seems to be the only one who can settle her. The ADA and her daughter are narrowly missing being killed so someone has got to be a leak and Rachel’s nightmares are becoming worse. This story deals with a lot of things going on but it flows effortlessly making for a edge of your seat ending.

OMG! This book has the creepiest bad guy I’ve read in a long time turning this romantic suspense into a psychological thriller. I truly adored Rachel. She takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Knox is perfect as the searcher finding home in her arms. Poor Diego I hope he finds his “One” soon. This book is a non-stop thrill ride from the first page to the last.
Wolf Rebel is Knox and Rachel’s story. This is a well written, fast paced storyline. It has many twists and turns in this suspenseful thriller. Lots of action and suspense. I like Knox and Rachel together…they have an unusual way they come together. This is more action and suspense than romance. The whole clown thing was super creepy! Well written and worth your time.
(4.5) I am loving the new little bits that Paige Tyler is throwing out there to keep this series fresh. This can be read as a stand alone, do don’t let that hold you back, but I say go for the whole enchilada and read the series. Rachel, ex cop, werewolf has a bad case of PTSD. Knox, was a hunter. WAS, its ok, he is no more, and he knew that was wrong. Knox is now a newbie werewolf, in fact so new we get to be there as he learns the ropes so to speak. Just the fact that we have a hunter (ok – ex) and a werewolf is a new take. Makes me sit up and pay attention. This is taking place amid trying to protect a DA and her family. We have an ex cop werewolf with bad PTSD, ex hunter newbie werewolf trying to learn the ropes and they are trying to protect a family where gang, cartel are trying to take them down! Whoosh just that is enough to ratchet up the suspense. That’s not all, her PTSD… its from a creepy clown, more so than just a clown, there is a reason behind the clown and I had to go google and look it up. (Sorry no spoilers) The DA…well there is something behind the scenes there too and on top of all of this, Rachel is trying to keep the pack from knowing Knox was a hunter! Phew one wild ride. Thank you Paige Tyler, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Net Galley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are freely given and were unsolicited.
SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #10, I had been anticipating this one and it did not disappoint. This can be read as a standalone but the entire series is worth the read.
Rachel is still relatively new to the whole wolf thing, she still has nightmares about the event that activated her wolf DNA, it would give me nightmares too. They were getting better but ever since L.A. (the events in the last book) they have gotten worse and Rachel is afraid she’s losing her mind because now she’s started to see and hear things. It doesn’t help that every so often she gets a delectable scent in the air that’s gone as quickly as it appears.
Knox is known to make impulsive decisions, like joining the Navy, becoming a SEAL, leaving the Navy but his last impulsive decision put in hip deep in trouble by joining The Hunters. He believed their scare tactics it wasn’t until his first mission with them that he regretted his rash decision because in the end he ended up as one of werewolves. He saved one by taking a bullet meant for her, she could have killed him but she let him go. He saw her again in L.A. and knew that if there was anyone her could talk to about what happened to him it would be her.
Two things happen in this book, aside from the smokin’ hot romance between Rachel and Knox, The SWAT is put on protection duty of the DA whose life is being threatened because her most recent case. Her husband has also hired a private firm to handle security so SWAT will be working side by side with them bring together Rachel and Knox. Thankfully no one else knows about Knox being a former Hunter but Rachel and one other, but he isn’t there right now. The other thing is that Rachel thinks she is losing her mind the crazed man who tried to kill her keeps appearing keeps talking to her. She agrees to help Knox learn who to be a wolf bringing them in even closer contact with each other, they feel safe with each other, trusting each other came easily. Knox knows about what happened and he wants to help but how can you protect someone from their own mind.
Overall, it is a great read. I loved Rachel and Knox. There aren’t very many more of these guys left so I hope that means Tyler’s introduction to the FBI special unit will lead to a spin-off series.
What is a former hunter now turned werewolf to do when he’s attracted and stalking a female on the Dallas SWAT team? Get himself chased down by Rachel Bennett when he can’t stay away. This book is another in Paige’s wonderful SWAT series that introduces a new spirit creature and builds the world even bigger. The possibile stories she gave us clues in the story are huge. I just love it.
Rachel Bennett, one of the 2 female werewolves in Dallas’ SWAT team, is thinking she’s losing her mind. She’s seeing shadows and smelling things her teammates aren’t. On top of that she can’t sleep because her PTSD nightmares have returned in force. She’s exhausted. After waking from another terrifying dream she finally makes out a figure in the shadows while cooling off on her balcony one night. She chases him down and find it’s the same guy she couldn’t take down when the hunters raided the wedding. He’s Knox Lawson and he’s become one of them from the injuries in the raid. He just can’t stay away from her for some reason and he knows she has answers to how to deal with what is happening to him. We the readers know the are the ONE for each other, mates destined to be together, and she agrees to help him out. He explains he fell into being a hunter without understanding the situation and during the raid he took a bullet for her. He never killed a werewolf and tried to get out at every opportunity after he learned the deal with the hunters. He’s now working for Direct Action Private Security that gets hired to protect Jennifer Lloyd who is prosecuting Anton Marshall who rebuilt Walter Hardy’s crime syndicate that SWAT took down. SWAT is asked to also aid in Lloyd’s security by the new Chief.
Oh I loved how these two seek to protect Jennifer Lloyd and her 16 year old daughter Adalynn. Somehow husband Conrad never seems to need protection. As surprise ambushes happen we see how well Rachel and Knox work together and seek what the heck is really going on. Knox also has a calming influence over Rachel’s terror when visited by visions of the clown that attacked her, the event that flipped on the change. We get introduced to a new paranormal creature, a nacht-mahr that’s tormenting Rachel. It was a feast for my imagination on this adventure reading the crafting of this story. I loved every minutes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
WOLF REBEL by Paige Tyler is a well-written paranormal romantic suspense novel and is the tenth novel in the Special Wolf Alpha Team series. It worked fine as a standalone novel even though there are some references to events that took place in prior books.
Our initial protagonist, Rachel Bennett, was a police officer in Tennessee when she was badly injured and is now suffering from nightmares and PTSD. After the initial scene, the rest of the story takes place in Texas where she is a member of a Dallas police department SWAT werewolf team. Her team is assigned to protect an Assistant District Attorney and her family during a trial. Former Navy SEAL Knox Lawson seeks help from Rachel when he finds out he is turning into a werewolf.
This is a paranormal take on the enemies to lovers’ scenario that has been popular recently.
However, most of the book is focused around the suspense/thriller side, not the romance side. The story grabbed my attention in the prologue and it never let up. There are a lot of characters in the book, but I did not have any trouble keeping them separate. Rachel is a strong, but seriously troubled, female lead.
Overall, it was action-packed, engaging, suspenseful, sinister and compulsively readable. It has one very steamy scene in it. Additionally, it contains an underlying serious theme around PTSD. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to my friends that enjoy this genre.
Many thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Paige Tyler for a digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
Rachel was a cop in Tennessee when she goes on a call to a local cemetery. She finds a girl cut up and tries to get her out but is attacked by a man dressed as a clown. When she almost dies, that’s when the wolf DNA kicked in and she turned. Now she lives in Texas, part of a pack, and a member of the S.W.A.T team. She has been having nightmares, seeing things, and smelling strange smells. Knox is a former SEAL turned who got involved with hunters. They are people that what to kill all werewolves. When they group crashes a pack mates reception, Rachel is about to be shot but Knox steps in the way and gets shot in the leg. When he turns into a wolf, he finds Rachel to get her to help him. Knox is working at a security company and they are hired to protect a D. A prosecuting a horrible man. Rachel’s team is also hired and she gets paired up with Knox. Will they have to give each other up when her pack finds out he was a hunter or will they forgive him?
I freaking loved this story! Plenty of action and mystery. A little loving and romance. I do believe this is my favorite in this series. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
This was another fun one from Paige Tyler. As with the other SWAT books, this one follows a couple of wolves as they discover their soulmates. Rachel has been on the SWAT team for a little bit and Knox is a newly turned wolf. They are both working through some things but end up helping each other. There’s lots of action and sexy bedroom scenes. Always a good time.
I find it interesting that the further along in the series, the author introduces in other supernatural/paranormal things beyond just werewolves. It looks like she is starting a spin-off series with the STAT group that has been a part of a couple of books.
Wolf Rebel (SWAT, #10) by Paige Tyler.. I love this series and this book did not disappoint .. It has everything intrigue, horror, supernatural, so many twists and turns, tears, love and plenty of steam all to get us to a very HEA.
Wow, this one is so different from the rest of the series and just as good. I felt the PTSD angle was tastefully depicted. Racheal and Knox are an example of loving supportive couple that will do anything for the other. I found this book to be an exciting rollercoaster complete with twists and turns. I loved it.
What I love most about this series is that it doesn’t take half of the book to get to the origin story of how the characters were “turned”. Because that is one of the first things we learn about them, we’re able to concentrate on the story line without the mystery of how they became a werewolf.
In this addition to the series, the focus is on Knox and Rachel. I like how Rachel’s character had all the power in this story. Even though she was going through some very intense and mentally draining things, she set the pace for the relationship with Knox. Yes, he’s an Alpha, but knew that he needed her to help him navigate his new normal. It made for a different dynamic than in some of the previous books.
The book is fast paced and such an easy read. The last few chapters are extremely exciting and you won’t be able to put it down. Can’t wait for more in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book from NetGalley
4 1/2 stars
I really loved this story. What a great series this has been so far! Rachel & Knox are absolutely wonderful characters. I love a well done paranormal story line and this truly is that. This is romantic, suspenseful and intense, everything I want in a paranormal romance. Hope this series doesn’t end anytime soon.
The tenth book in this wonderful series and a great addition to the story of the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) team of Dallas. This is Rachel Bennet’s story
We have met her in previous books and even the incident that is the catalyst for this book When the SWAT compound was attacked by hunters during a wedding. She gets a chance to shoot one of the hunters but for some reason she cannot pull the trigger and she hasn’t been able to get over the guilt since. When she assigned to protect a District Attorney and her family during a trial There are also private contractors working to keep them safe and one of those is former SEAL Knox Lawson. Knox has a past that he isn’t to happy about when he first left the Seals he got drawn into a group of hunters not realising exactly what they where. He suffered a catastrophic injury on one of the missions with the hunters and now he is starting to turn into a werewolf can Rachel help him What is the connection between these two and can they deny it. As danger grows for the DA and the danger is much closer than thy think Knox and Rachel will also fight a growing attraction to one another Can two damaged people actually find salvation in one another
This is the 10th book in the SWAT team series and I would absolutely read the previous books before this one or else you will probably be lost as to what is going on. In this one we get Rachel Bennett and Knox Lawson’s story. Rachel was a police officer in TN when she was injured. Now she is on the Texas SWAT team but she has nightmares and PTSD after what happened. Knox is a former Navy SEAL who was also a part of the hunter group that came after the team. Not knowing that werewolves were real, he doesn’t know what is happening to himself or just what he is truly mixed up in. And he seeks out Rachel to ask for her help, not realizing what she truly is to him. Now they have to not only protect themselves and the ones they care about but figure out how to get rid of something no one has any clue about!
I absolutely loved this one! I was wondering how this author would bring about Knox’s redemption and I loved how his story played out in this. He has dealt with a lot of things but he is still trying to stay true to himself and his own values which pits him against the people who should have his back. Rachel thought she was going crazy and when you find out what it really is, it kinda makes you wonder just what else is out there that no one else knows about! These two together are perfect. They know when to back off and when to stand at each other’s side and most of all-they accept each other for who they are. I loved it!
Rachel thought she was going crazy. Knox was obsessed with the wolf that allowed him to escape when he and the hunters attacked the wedding reception. Then they both end up on the same protection detail. Can they trust each other and how will Rachel convince her pack mates that they can trust Knox?
As with the other books in the series, this book reels you in and keeps you wanting to know what will happen next.
